Apr 9, 2025Age of Mythology: Retold is great fun to play, complete with a real “just five more minutes” vibe. It helps that it comes with plenty of ways to play, as well as a wide range of units.

Jan 2, 2025Age of Mythology: Retold is an exemplary update to the classic strategy game, which now also works great on Xbox consoles.

Aug 28, 2024Age of Mythology: Retold is an absolutely successful project with an highly affordable price tag, capable of keeping an RTS enthusiast glued to the controller for days on end, but that can also win over those who are not experts in the genre.

Sep 4, 2024It's clear that Age of Mythology Retold won't reinvent the real-time strategy genre, but the truth is that it will be positioned among the top positions in this theme , I can almost risk saying that, at least on Xbox, it can easily compete for first place on that podium.

Aug 27, 2024Taking all the experience from the Definitive Edition of Age of Empires, they deliver a renewed experience that adds very interesting and challenging mechanics for strategy lovers. It may be a bit lacking in ambition, which is something they could have perhaps considered before getting into a game that will continue to remind us that there was no second part.

Aug 27, 2024The developers have once again done a wonderful job of bringing one of the classic and legendary games from history to the present day. Are you interested in a strategy game with a twist? Are you tired of the human/historical conflicts exhibited in Age of Empires and the like? Then take a look at the mythical world of Age of Mythology: Retold. I think you won’t be disappointed. If they can fix some of the AI problems and balance issues in future patches, Age of Mythology can truly stand among its peers. It might even become the true fan favorite it was always destined to be. Maybe we should ask the gods for their favor and start praying.

Aug 27, 2024Age of Mythology was already a respectable package and Retold adds some additional shine. Like other Age games, it’s got near-endless replay value and is packed to the brim with gameplay and lore (even if some content is locked at release). All up though, this is a promising start and it will likely only get better from here on out with more updates and some expansions planned. If you skipped this one back in the day, or just want to revisit it, Retold is a great modernisation of Microsoft’s RTS classic.

Aug 28, 2024Some RTS remasters have been terrible, chock full of issues. Age of Mythology: Retold is not one of them. Some bumps, like the terrible, lifeless voice acting are hard to get over. I love the idea of being able to play with a controller, and the support is there, it still doesn’t feel right. The campaign is great once you get into it, and there is plenty to keep a single player happy for some time. This one is hard not to recommend to fans of the RTS genre who like to relive a bit of their younger days, but might be a bit to much to chew off for the casual fan.

Aug 27, 2024As a revisit to a game that has solid foundations in the RTS genre, Age of Mythology: Retold does enough to warrant a new release. It gives players spectacular powers and so many ways to play that it’s dizzying. And yet, it’s held back slightly by a lifeless set of campaigns and the minor frustrations of controller play. Of course, if this is your only way to play, you’re going to have fun, but you might find yourself pining for more precision and a bit more polish.
