May 16, 2019While it’s unfortunate you don’t get to play as Brad Pitt, or have much of an overarching narrative tying all the mini campaigns together, World War Z scratches that Left 4 Dead itch that I’ve been craving for a few years now. While it does eventually turn into a grind, facing off against swarms of hundreds of rushing zombies, it never ceases to impress with its technical prowess and core fun of shooting a mass of zombies.
-
May 10, 2019World War Z is lots of fun and easy to pick up and play, despite being a little on the expensive side. It may not have loads of new ideas, but it delivers a solid online PvP experience that doesn’t disappoint, especially on the zombie front. If you’re looking for your first foray into the online shooter genre, this is as good a place as any to start.

May 7, 2019World War Z doesn't hide its intentions. It's not a layered, in-depth survival sim. It doesn't try to be anything it's not. It's built around the horde effect, which it nails. They're like train wrecks: you can't stop watching them—except the train is headed straight for you.
-
May 2, 2019World War Z is a worthy pupil of Left 4 Dead in 2019, but it's hard to beat the master. However, it's a lot of fun and the Z hordes are bestial.
-
Apr 29, 2019It’s actually surprising just how good World War Z is.
-
Apr 23, 2019If games like Payday, Earthfall, and Overkill's The Walking Dead have left you wanting, World War Z should fill the Left 4 Dead-sized hole in your heart in most ways. It doesn't have the memorable characters and borrows all of its special zombies from other games, but it makes up for those problems with great visuals, stunning setpieces, and an addictive progression loop. It's one of 2019's biggest and best surprises.
-
Apr 18, 2019World War Z is the ideal game for those looking for an entertaining, fun and addictive game with which to shoot and overcome almost infinite waves of zombies either alone or with friends.
-
Apr 30, 2019World War Z provides a fun zombie killing experience that should leave fans of the Left 4 Dead titles pretty happy.
-
Apr 24, 2019World War Z is a fine co-op zombie shooter. It doesn’t have the spark that Left 4 Dead had or the customization Killing Floor 2 had, but that didn’t stop me from having fun with the game. At a budget price, it’s a fine game that Left 4 Dead fans can have some good fun in, and seeing the hoard mechanics in play is something to behold. If you have three friends that are looking for a co-op game to plow through, you’ll find a fun on here even with the issues that it presents currently.
-
Apr 23, 2019An interesting game for those who are still waiting for Left 4 Dead 4, but with it's own twists that make this game even more fun. It could have more zombie types, better matchmaking or an interesting multiplayer PvP... But maybe that's too much for a B-class game like this.
-
Apr 21, 2019World War Z offers a fun experience that, despite a few technical issues and some visual blemishes, utilizes its source material rather well. Whilst it would have been nice to see more focus on its story elements, its tense gameplay, its mechanical depth, and its decent variation across the board, largely offset its blatant downsides. Indeed, it barely holds a candle to Left 4 Dead, but, it certainly achieves much of what it set out to accomplish.
-
Apr 29, 2019While it’s an unabashed Left 4 Dead clone that never extends beyond the conservative concepts and budgets that obviously constrained its development, World War Z offers up an enjoyable adventure that at times does a lot with the little it attempts. No matter whether playing the co-op campaign or competitive multiplayer, there’s enough good to the game to make the bad not feel as bad.
-
Apr 19, 2019Though clearly inspired by Left 4 Dead in its mechanics, World War Z plays differently. It doesn't have the same depth, which limits it to a simple way to let off steam, but it can offer some good memories for you and your friends.
-
Apr 29, 2019Outside of the excellent co-op play, World War Z is a mixed bag of issues. With no story to get invested in, the progression system is a total drag and there's little here you haven't seen done better before. However, as long as you have friends willing to join in, this shooter can be an intensely enjoyable time.
-
Apr 23, 2019World War Z has its flaws especially with its throwaway PvPvZ mode and repetitive campaign, but it’s genuinely a pretty fun zombie shooter akin to Left 4 Dead. It’s a fun title to just pick up and play with a few pals when you’re bored or have run out of games to play. It’s even enjoyable solo with AI companions. World War Z is worth a go, then, at least until Back 4 Blood makes its debut.
-
Official Xbox Magazine UKJun 5, 2019Despite the largely one-note action, noticeably low budget, as well as the lack of imagination on show, there’s at least a scrappy charm displayed here that makes this zombie romp just about worthwhile. If you have a few Xbox Live chums who have an undead-annihilating itch to scratch, you could do worse than waging this brain-biting battle [Issue#178, p.78]
-
Apr 29, 2019Contributing significantly to the disappointment are the sound effects - with the guns and explosives sounding particularly underwhelming.
