Can anyone tell me why on earth is this user score so low? Been playing this over 15 hours and while not perfect, it's nice game.

Uninspiring game. The story and the gameplay don't interest me. The only thing I like is the reproduction of the setting.

While I do wish that the recruitment mechanic brought a more personal taste, where I feel like I have my own team and its members interact in their own unique way, I'm still impressed with the variety of characters the developers were able to include.

I understand that this is the first entry to try something like this, and I'm very excited to see where it goes next. After all, Ubisoft does have a history of expanding on their concepts as the series progresses.

Expand

However, I was rather apprehensive to purchase it after how bad Watchdogs 2 was. When I made the decision to buy it, I booted it up and was overall impressed with some aspects and dismayed with others. After finally finishing the game, I have come to a consensus on how I feel about the game and each of it's components:

Logistics and Running: The game ran pretty well, which I was surprised about, given how poorly and buggy other next generation games ran on my 7 year old Xbox One. The graphics and visuals were stunning at times and definitely added to the experience

Gameplay: Watchdogs is notorious for it's simple and, at times, mind-numbingly identical gameplay loop. This game attempts to change that but not by very much. You'll still find yourself cycling from three different objectives in different locations, with stealth, hacking, combat, and puzzles sprawled in between. However, I still found the game very fresh and enjoyable. I never felt bored during the campaign and I would have to say that Ubisoft created a very fun and engaging gameplay loop. On top of that, this game's gimmick is the whole "be anybody" mechanic, which introduces a variety of unique scenarios and problems. Each character's abilities and weapons made building your team a welcome and new addition to the game, adding more content and things to grind for. However, the ways to aquire these new operatives boils down to a boring and repetitive loop that can get real old real fast. I believe that the new mechanic is a double edged sword that does more good than harm overall. Finally, the gunplay and hacking is fanominal in this game. The various abiiities and weapons you can get to help out all feel satisfying.

Plot: This is where the game really struggles in my opinion. The setting and backstory, in my opinion, is one of the best parts about the game. I love the idea of a PMC seizing control and liberties from a free Britain after staged terrorist attacks. The modern setting also perfectly intertwines with this narrative, creating various interesting scenarios. However, this is where the praise stops. The characters are all one-dimensional good or or one-dimensional evil. There is no gray area and nobody's motivations or thoughts ever get fleshed out. On top of this, the "be anyone" mechanic is a thorn in the game's side, as you cannot connect to a single character since you are playing as several different people. Also, a nasty byproduct of there being so many possible main characters is that the voice acting is AWFUL. At times I laughed at how bad the line delivery was. The villains all are uninteresting and don't get enough time to be developed. They had a LOT of potential that was sadly wasted and squandered. Bagley, though, was the one character that got any development and I LOVED him. If everyone had the charisma and development of Bagley this game would be an automatic 10/10.

Overall, this game was a nice attempt at a return to form for the Watchdogs series. I am definitely going to buy the next game as I feel that Ubisoft has got themselves back on track. Anxiously awaiting this next release and this was an very enjoyable game that I had plenty of fun with.

Hm...It's not an easy because looking on the buildings, roads, driver's line and some of elements graphics, sure WD2 is under some levels, but Ubisoft first, didn't create 1:1 of London so why game's producer didn't make a London in futuristic theme or even SCI-FI? I don't understand a self-car driving because it's a game and fun is the most important, I think. The second, see on the graphics that Ubisoft made a decision go to easy way. Important: if you earlier played a WD2, don't waste money for WD Legion or maybe you will try that games. I did it and after 2 days sent a request of money refund. Unfortunately... Expand

Just more of the same from Ubisoft. Another open world sandbox with collectibles, liberating districts, and an uninteresting story. After playing as different characters, the only differences are some very minor bonuses (Such as access to a drone, a specific starting weapon or 10% off at clothing stores.) or some different dialogue. The AI seems to have trouble using their weapons to kill the player, because they will instead try to circle around them to gain some type of tactical advantage, but then stop short of doing anything with it.

It's not like the game is inherently awful or broken. It's just so painfully generic. This is the same game as all Assassin's creed games and Far Cry 2-5. Watch Dogs: Legion even has the stock "Comedy" character, who, while somewhat entertaining, just seems like a character that needed to be added because they needed to check off the "Humor" box.

It's a perfectly functional game. And if you're looking for another Ubi-sandbox game, then this will keep you busy. But you could also play any other modern open-world sandbox game, and probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

In short, the experience of dealing with Ubisoft's completely broken user registration and data theft has so burned me that I'll never find out whether this game is half as fun as it looks.

My gripes really stem from the place of being a fan. Anyone entering Watch Dogs: Legion looking for a by the books open world game is going to find a lot to enjoy. There are small puzzles to solve, plenty of collectibles, lots of missions and I would say the shooting and driving are the best this series has ever been. Fans of the series like myself however will be disappointed by the lack of enjoyable characters as well as stand out missions and story beats. With how close Legion is releasing to Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Immortals Fenyx Rising it feels like Watch Dogs: Legion was left to fight for your attention and your money with less money put into development. I would recommend both Watch Dogs 1 & 2 as well as plenty of other Ubisoft experiences from the last few years before Legion at full price.

It’s a convincing facsimile, which makes trying to save it from Albion and its assorted cronies a more compelling task. And Legion’s big gimmick is that you can play as, well, anyone. Construction workers, lawyers, YouTube stars, retired cage fighters, Anarchists, football hooligans. All are served up by Ubisoft’s smart procedurally-generated trick, each with their own look, background and sometimes even voting record.
