Before I begin to write down the review, let me be clear; a 7 is not a bad grade for a video game. It means the video game was good, but there was nothing outstanding about it.

I personally played through the full story and enjoyed what the game had to offer. However, there was nothing about watchdogs that would make me play it again. I had heard about the play as anyone mechanic and was very excited about testing it out, and it is fun; the first 6 hours. After this time period it seems like more of a chore than something special.

I am now playing this game in the Series X, and whilst it looks outstanding with the raytracing, it's not enough for the game to lure me in. I recognize that Ubisoft has made a good game, but the problem with a good game is that nowadays there are too many. And with so many good tittles, it's really the outstanding ones that have moved the standard of what to expect in a video game.

I like watchdogs legion, I just find it forgettable.

It also feels like developing this gimic kept them from creating a great world, engaging side objectives, or interesting missions. Speaking of gimics, the "hacking" from the earlier games is here in full force. Bouncing from camera to camera, or sneaking around with a droid, isn't an overly fun experience. Neither is downloading a key for the hundredth time or performing another silly "rotate the line" puzzle. The foundation is all kinda meh as well. Driving is touchy, melee is miles behind any competent action game, and the shooting is worse then many past generation open world games. Some of the characters have interesting skills that let you approach missions differently. The story is okay. They did an admirable job of implementing the play anyone mechanic. It's a competent open world shooter to spend some time in before Cyberpunk, Assassins Creed, or any of the other big boys show up.

It's Ok. But a mish mash of good and bad,
The gameplay feels more proscriptive than it should. While there are multiple paths to success, there is an obvious best one in most campaign missions.
I hear the same speech too often. The recruit speech is almost the same every time and I've not come across very many variations of accent. There are parkour "lite" things to do in the game, but

I hear the same speech too often. The recruit speech is almost the same every time and I've not come across very many variations of accent.
There are parkour "lite" things to do in the game, but these are done really badly. Some walls or barriers you can climb - others you can't Often there is no logic as to why you can't climb. You scale a 8 foot wall easily, then can't scale the next 7 foot high wall. Why?

The gunplay is ok. The spider bot is overpowered but fun for a while.
Recruiting is a waste of time. I've found no need to change character except where a mission demands I use someone specific - like a construction worker to use one of the large hover pad things. Most missions it really doesn't make much - if any - difference who you use.

The graphics are good but even on a relatively high end PC running from NVME drive, a 8700K running at 4.9 Ghz all cores, 32 gigs of 3200 ram and a 2070 Super card there are stutters as (I think) textures are loaded in.

The politics are ham fisted. Given the "thought and language" police that are everywhere in UK society in the last 10 years at the moment, destroying careers, destroying lives, insisting on increasingly worrying additions to legislation designed to curb freedom - come exclusively from the left wing. It feels like a "bait and switch" to pretend these issues are from the right wing as this game s awkwardly and transparently insists. Mind you left wing fascism is a "thing" these days and maybe that's what this is.
That said it's easy to ignore the messages as although they are everywhere, they are so simplistic and un-nuanced that - when I played - I was soon in a different universe. It was so unlike reality that in my mind it soon wasn't and this was just "random made-up world"

Another ambitious ubisoft game that ends up excelling at absolutely nothing. Firstly, it's the buggiest game i've played in a decade. Nothing to break the game yet, but I cant go half an hour without seeing a bug. NPCs walking into walls, objects stuck in walls flapping around (Just now I saw a windex spray bottle from one of the janitor NPCs stuck in a window and it was glitching out),Another ambitious ubisoft game that ends up excelling at absolutely nothing. NPCs walking into walls, objects stuck in walls flapping around (Just now I saw a windex spray bottle from one of the janitor NPCs stuck in a window and it was glitching out), and many others that are just more of the same old unpolished release from ubisoft.

Next, onto the game itself. On paper the 'Recruit anyone' mechanc seems unique and next-gen, but it gets boring qucikly. After a few hours of playing the game I was already seeing identical looking NPCs (I have 2 people who have the exact same face in my crew already after 10 hours of gameplay) , hearing the same voice actor in different people, seeing duplicate backstories, duplicate perks, and so on. Ubisoft have evidently created a finite number of character traits then just randomly thrown them onto NPCs to give the false appearance of eveyone being unique, but in reality this just means none of the characters have any depth. I don't actually care about anyone in my crew because they've all been downgraded from a well-written, unique person you'd get in a normal game, to a series of random numbers slapped on the same few faces over and over again. I've got 10 potential crew members saved, and 3 of them are identical to someone in my crew, save for a differet pair of glasses or different coloured hat. The voice acting is also completely off - some of the accents are really bad, and since the voices are randomly assigned to characters, people just don't sound like they should. When you're designing a character you have a voice in mind that fits the body, but that goes out of the window with this game. You'll hear tough guards and thugs with the same high pitched, camp voices as young hipster looking characters. You've got rough, strong looking builders with the same posh upper-class English accent as the young-looking gangster on the street corner. Most of the voices don't fit the character at all.

Further, even with permadeath on and the game on hard, it's just too easy so you don't need to bother recruiting people with certain perks because anyone can do a similar job. For example, there's one mission where you have to delete data from a huge server in a building full of Albion guards. I didn't need to recruit an Albion employee to sneak in. I didn't need a super hacker who could skip past certain doors. Regular Joe #4 just ran a spider bot into the room, and ran around the server in circles until the objective was complete and the guards were too stupid to stop my robot. Most of the perks just don't matter at all and the ones that do give a slight benefit can be obtained again easily if your guy dies. Your Albion soldier died, so you can no longer get into the enemy areas in disguise? Walk 10 feet down the road and do the same repetitive quest for the next Albion soldier and recruit them instead. Don't forget to fall asleep as you do it though, because the missions you do to recruit enemies are very repetitive, and after recruiting 4-5 crew members you've already seen it all. They say the same things over and over. Your character, when trying to recruit them, will also say the same things over and over again.

Not to mention the animations are incredibly stiff, characters dont look 'alive' they look like they are just running through scripted motions with no care for their surroundings. The physics are also terrible, run someone over and they just go stiff like a dummy and just fly around with no velocity in the same pose. GTA 4 in 2008 had smoother animations than this.

And finally, the driving still sucks complete arse, it feels more like you're driving an RC car than a real one.

Ultimately the 'recruit anyone' mechanic, which is the only thing unique about this game, whilst nice on paper, falls incredibly flat. Aside from some of the graphical settings like ray tracing, you could mistake this for a game that came out years ago.

The gameplay is generally fine, but the gameplay in watchdogs 2 is also fine, and that game came out 4 years ago, and is 1/4 of the price of this game. The fact this franchise didn't move an inch in 4 years is staggering. So just play watchdogs 2 or buy a month of Uplay+ to play this for a few hours then put it down again, but dont get this game at full price, it's not worth it at all.

It's more of the same Watch Dogs. If you liked 2, then this is the same game, but set in London, with a worse plot/cast of characters, and slightly better gameplay. The procedurally generated characters are OK, but there's no real group dynamic since all the recruits are just "whoever shows up" and they lack any real distinct personalities, unlike Watch Dogs 2.

If you like running around an open world, then this is a nice version of London. If you know the geography of London, then this game will be pretty fun, as it is a more faithful reproduction of it than WD2 was of San Francisco. On the other hand, it is a MUCH smaller total area than TW2. Like probably 1/3th the size (not counting the bay; counting the bay, probably less than 1/10th).

    Does it have soul? No.
Are the graphics good? Yeah, it looks basically like the "lying E3 trailer" version of WatchDogs that they showed us in 2013 or whenever the first one came out. Water effects are quite lovely, especially at night.
Is it worth playing? Only if you're stuck at home in a pandemic and have nothing else to do.

COVID and the delay of Cyberpunk 2077 will probably double this game's sales compared to what it should be.

Would I recommend it? I think only if you like pointless open world games a LOT, or if you kind of like open world games and you live in London, or have lived in London.

Oops, no idea why I rated this zero to start, I meant to give it a 5.

Don´t get me wrong it is possible to recruit anyone from beautiful London ( I get here lately) but it´s not something I want to do. A lot of people owns a car but that is useless because you can always steal a car without any penalty or police chase. And cars are everywhere so a lot of people are useless. Next are seniors that can´t run and take cover. So if you don´t wanna make memes they are useless. So you want to find uniformed people like policeman becouse they reduce time spent in prison. doctors becouse the reduce time spent in hospital. And Albion soldiers. And this is weird. You can recruit an Albion soldier to fight Albion. He can also get into they zones/bases etc. without big suspicion. You still have to watch out but why he would go against his own man? So I used 2 people, spy becouse he had stun **** silenced pistol and cool car. And if there was an Albion I used my traitorous soldier :D. And of course I didn´t feel anything when my spy died. Well i felt angry becouse I had to find another and that´s not simple task.

London is beautiful. Ubisoft did great job that much that I want to go there after this Corona crisis ends. And it really look futuristic thanks to drones and self-driving cars. Nothing else to say, it´s just perfect.

Story is just bad. Like really I have never seen that story would be that predictable. So WD1 story still the best. I don´t want to make any spoiler by accident so that´s it.

Cars are driving like they are weightless. In 1.5 sec you reach top speed and in another 1.5 you stop. Steering is maybe even worse than in WD2. But what Ubi did great once again is how they look. No matter what car it is all of them are beautiful.

Gameplay and missions are well... It´s not very good. Some missions are great and I had fun and and some were awful (mostly recruitment misions xd). I liked the spiderbot parkour inside Big Ben. But missions like go to the other side of London. Hack something there and come back. So 90% of that mission was driving or fast travel trough Underground metro and the rest is actual mission.
Gameplay is fun. From shooting trough spiderbot infiltrating to drone flying.

WD:Legion is great game that is good in graphics and gameplay. but struggles in driving and "play as anyone" mechanic. I think it would be better to make about 20 pre-made characters to play as them. It´s not a bad game, but it´just not what I want to play again like GTA or first WD. Still like other games from Ubi it´s just go there hack/rescue/etc. and done. If there will be another WD it will be hopefully better.

The voice acting is very cringe, english and german. Characters repeat alot just change clothes and hairstyles along with names. The recruitment quests repeat also after doing around 5-10 recruits.
Collecting as always just a pain in the butt, no fun involved.
Car driving is terrible, feels garbage and makes me sick from the camera movement.

Combat is somewhat alright but nothing special. Shooting is weird. Gadgets are somewhat decent but most of them are useless. Stick with the spider drone and silenced pistol and you'll be beyond fine.
Liberating one part of the city uncovers the tech point locations but does not remove the "fog" of the map, also doesn't reveal fast travel points or other collectibles. Kinda sad.

Recruitment quests are okay but if you have to do the same mission on the same locations for the 10th time to recruit some guy you prolly never gonna use anyways makes no sense to me.

Story is okay but i actually enjoyed the WD 1 & 2 Story more.
Glad i didn't pay money for it. I would've been hella mad.

If you wanna kill some time until AC Valhalla drops and you don't feel bad spending 60 bucks on a filler game, then you might wanna grab WD Legion. Otherwise i would suggest to wait for AC or Cyberpunk 2077 to get some good games.

    Cheers

P.S. If you rate this game below 5 or above 8 you should defo get your mind fixed.

Beside the crashes and many bugs, including an audio bug on the Series X version that makes the audio crackle/pop, Watch Dogs Legion is just not a interesting game.

Every playable character in the game, and there are many since you can play as every single person, sounds horrible and acts like a lunatic. The story characters are all uninteresting and their stories end way too quickly.

The game has multiple story lines which kind of feel like a Black Mirror episode. They are sort of appealing but nothing too special.

The gameplay itself might be the most disappointing part of the game. Ubisoft tried something new by letting you play as every character in the city by simply recruiting them. These characters are randomly generated, so most of them have voices that don't fit their face and age. The recruiting missions are all the same. In fact, almost every mission in the game feels the same. Infiltrate a building, hack a computer, finish a puzzle and escape the area. After doing this 15 times, it's just not fun anymore.

I feel like this game is a huge step backwards from the previous games. They got rid of many features and added a few that don't impress me much. Watch Dogs Legion's release date was pushed back by Ubisoft, but I think they should have postponed it again to 2021 because of the many bugs.

This game learned me one thing, and that is to never buy a Watch Dogs game on launch again.

Vraiment dommage. Expand

The game is very entertaining. No doubt for me its one of the best releases for the last years. However it uses so much resources that my xbox series x is running very hot and i need to disable 4k from settings so not to melt my brand new console graphic card and processor while running this game.

Does it have bugs? game breaking bugs? yes, it is enjoyable? Yes! it is not perfect, at all, but it is very enjoyable, i got more hooked than the two previous chapters, was waiting for the online mode to review it but it's being postponed. it is a solid 7.

    Worst Watch Dogs story yet.
Character development is non existent due to the recruitment system. Character progression is good though. Car radio stations kinda suck. Not sure what went on here but it’s definitely a large step back. Rate it 59.

Overall, I think this game is a very good with just some rough edges to buff out. London is a beautiful recreation and the dystopian future seems believable to me; the cars, guns, tech, buildings, etc. all compliment each other. Some buildings are historically old (Big Ben or Buckingham Palace) and some buildings are brand new (high-tech skyscrapers) - this clash of architectural styles results in a very unique and beautiful looking take on London.

The gameplay is not for everyone - it resembles State of Decay in a way, where you can build your own unique roster of characters with different abilities. Personally, I love it and think it gives the game a lot of replay value. You aren't forced to play as any particular character, but you will find some missions easier if you change up your playstyle from time to time - it also just makes it a lot more fun. Permadeath mode is something I haven't tried yet but will definitely use in my second playthrough, and that alone will add a lot of tension to characters you grow attached to. The hacking feels smooth and well-thought out, the gunplay is pretty standard (nothing wrong with it), and the combat is fun enough - I don't see anything inherently wrong with this game's gameplay systems and I commend it for trying new things - it can only improve from here.

Where the game faults are in its story (not unusual for a Ubisoft game), glitches/bugs, and overall awkwardness. I was not interested in the story and I can tell that that's a general consensus among many gamers, but that's okay, because nobody plays Watch Dogs for the story anyways - I bought this game for its unique gameplay systems and that's exactly what I got. Although, I wouldn't be against some better writing. The glitches are pretty bad, understandable for a new game, and it's certainly not as bad as some games at launch, but they're noticeable. My game has frozen about 5 or 6 times already and it's really a drag to have to restart the game over and over again (especially because the loading screens aren't quick). And lastly, the awkwardness does get in the way of immersion sometimes; characters will repeat dialogue lines they've already said, voices might not always match the character, and cutscenes with your characters just seem off. Of course, this makes sense since you can play as literally anyone, but it needs to be mentioned.

Despite the good things I've said about this game, I still think it deserves only a 6/10 because regardless of how unique it is trying to be, the game just seems to be boring once you finish it. There's not much to do and the restricted areas are all pretty cut-and-paste. I don't see this game having much longevity to it, but the story was fun while it lasted.

As a big Watch_Dogs fan I must say, Legion is quite disappointing. Sure, it’s a decent game on its own, but as part of a franchise it’s certainly the weakest. The story took the wrong turn somewhere, dropping the lore and the themes of the first two games completely, plus lots of gameplay features which made the first two games stand out were dropped completely. Uninspiring game. The story and the gameplay don't interest me. The only thing I like is the reproduction of the setting.

However, I was rather apprehensive to purchase it after how bad Watchdogs 2 was. When I made the decision to buy it, I booted it up and was overall impressed with some aspects and dismayed with others. After finally finishing the game, I have come to a consensus on how I feel about the game and each of it's components:

Logistics and Running: The game ran pretty well, which I was surprised about, given how poorly and buggy other next generation games ran on my 7 year old Xbox One. The graphics and visuals were stunning at times and definitely added to the experience

Gameplay: Watchdogs is notorious for it's simple and, at times, mind-numbingly identical gameplay loop. This game attempts to change that but not by very much. You'll still find yourself cycling from three different objectives in different locations, with stealth, hacking, combat, and puzzles sprawled in between. However, I still found the game very fresh and enjoyable. I never felt bored during the campaign and I would have to say that Ubisoft created a very fun and engaging gameplay loop. On top of that, this game's gimmick is the whole "be anybody" mechanic, which introduces a variety of unique scenarios and problems. Each character's abilities and weapons made building your team a welcome and new addition to the game, adding more content and things to grind for. However, the ways to aquire these new operatives boils down to a boring and repetitive loop that can get real old real fast. I believe that the new mechanic is a double edged sword that does more good than harm overall. Finally, the gunplay and hacking is fanominal in this game. The various abiiities and weapons you can get to help out all feel satisfying.

Plot: This is where the game really struggles in my opinion. The setting and backstory, in my opinion, is one of the best parts about the game. I love the idea of a PMC seizing control and liberties from a free Britain after staged terrorist attacks. The modern setting also perfectly intertwines with this narrative, creating various interesting scenarios. However, this is where the praise stops. The characters are all one-dimensional good or or one-dimensional evil. There is no gray area and nobody's motivations or thoughts ever get fleshed out. On top of this, the "be anyone" mechanic is a thorn in the game's side, as you cannot connect to a single character since you are playing as several different people. Also, a nasty byproduct of there being so many possible main characters is that the voice acting is AWFUL. At times I laughed at how bad the line delivery was. The villains all are uninteresting and don't get enough time to be developed. They had a LOT of potential that was sadly wasted and squandered. Bagley, though, was the one character that got any development and I LOVED him. If everyone had the charisma and development of Bagley this game would be an automatic 10/10.

Overall, this game was a nice attempt at a return to form for the Watchdogs series. I am definitely going to buy the next game as I feel that Ubisoft has got themselves back on track. Anxiously awaiting this next release and this was an very enjoyable game that I had plenty of fun with.

This game was good. Its basically a British Version of GTA 5 with a scale replica of London. I loved the plot of the story with the ending being sad (NO SPOILERS). I like this game but there are some flaws to this game. Sometimes when I'm in the menu it will automatically crash. There's also barely in Online Mode. But overall it is an "ok" game

My gripes really stem from the place of being a fan. Anyone entering Watch Dogs: Legion looking for a by the books open world game is going to find a lot to enjoy. There are small puzzles to solve, plenty of collectibles, lots of missions and I would say the shooting and driving are the best this series has ever been. Fans of the series like myself however will be disappointed by the lack of enjoyable characters as well as stand out missions and story beats. With how close Legion is releasing to Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Immortals Fenyx Rising it feels like Watch Dogs: Legion was left to fight for your attention and your money with less money put into development. I would recommend both Watch Dogs 1 & 2 as well as plenty of other Ubisoft experiences from the last few years before Legion at full price.

It’s a convincing facsimile, which makes trying to save it from Albion and its assorted cronies a more compelling task. And Legion’s big gimmick is that you can play as, well, anyone. Construction workers, lawyers, YouTube stars, retired cage fighters, Anarchists, football hooligans. All are served up by Ubisoft’s smart procedurally-generated trick, each with their own look, background and sometimes even voting record.
