    Volgarr the Viking feels like the perfect action game, or at least as close to perfection for a side-scrolling action game as there has ever been.

    Volgarr the Viking is an amazing accomplishment. Its developers have taken the skeleton of a classic title and transformed it into the greatest game the 80s never produced.

    Volgarr the Viking is, beneath it all, a very lovely game. Just don't be surprised if it takes you a while to realise it.

    Unapologetically rugged retro-romp where every inch of progress is cause to break out the celebration cake. Not for the faint of heart, but in the short term, it's a pleasing challenge for the faint of wallet.

    Very addicting game, it does feel like an old "good times" game, so if you like the genre you're going to enjoy it. My only complaint is with the way too limited number of checkpoints, which forces you to replay half a level if you lose against the final monster. If you're getting it for free with Games with Gold, it's definitely worth a shot!… Full Review »

This game isn't very forgiving because you're supposed to complete it in one sitting, but it is a lot of fun if you put in the effort.
