A decent story based on a strong background, which lingers too long explaining and then rushing too fast to a satisfactory end. There are some minor technical issues but nothing too serious. It's relatively short story offers enough choices and side stories to allow several replays.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries Of New York on Xbox One has a great tone encompassed with a solid soundtrack, wonderful visuals and mostly strong narrative design. Unfortunately, this is let down by a weak ending, a game breaking glitch and some fundamental design choices that betray its very nature as a visual novel.

Vampire: the Masquerade - Coteries of New York is a fully interactive Adventure Story. I will be using terminology from White Wolf's World ofVampire: the Masquerade - Coteries of New York is a fully interactive Adventure Story. I will be using terminology from White Wolf's World of Darkness, as the Vampires, or Kindred, have their own words for things. Taking on the role of an abandoned Childe spared from destruction, you learn the intricacies of Kindred society in New York. What and who you were doesn't even matter any longer, as your daytime life has abruptly ended, and a permanent Nightlife has begun. You get to chose from one of three characters, though you make them your own. There is a Toreador, a Brujah, and a Ventrue for you to choose from as you embark on this journey of discovery and politics. Your story starts just like any other vampire's does, with the Embrace and the Hunger. Your Sire is nowhere to be found, and the city's Sheriff has come to investigate, with orders to bring you to the prince, and permission to deliver Final Death. Everything you choose to say can impact the future of your character in this tale of Political (Kindred politics, not Human) Intrigue. Kindred law is absolute, so always be careful how you tread in everything you do. You will be tasked to build a Coterie, or personal circle of influence, in the bustling nightlife of New York City. The game is a collection of Beautiful art, with just enough motion in the background to keep the scenes feeling alive. The Masterfully written script makes you feel like you're in the hands of a superb Storyteller (Vampire's GM) with a long worked story. Easily one of the best V:TM stories I have ever encountered! White Wolf fans rejoice as this one is "Dead" on! Expand
