    Yes these games are products of their time, but I adore seeing them return in 2018. For those that have fond memories these are a no-brainer. My one gripe is that the price of $20 feels a bit much. I would have liked to see them both bundled for that price. Still I can’t stay away. Returning to Turok feels so good. Now if only we could get a remaster of Shadow of Oblivion, or even better, a brand new game in the franchise.

    Though a few aspects of the Turok series' design haven't aged well since original release, these two games nevertheless deliver on an incredibly fun and satisfying experience that all fans of casual shooters should try out.

    Turok boasts an impressive variety of enemies, weaponry, and puzzles. This version of Turok doesn’t come without its problems, but many of these issues are merely a product of its age. The price-tag is set too high in my opinion, but if you enjoy chaotic old-school FPS gameplay, it’s easy to overlook. Night Dive’s remastered work is remarkable, the game looks much better and performs much better throughout.

One of the stand out games of 1997 for me was Turok and I enjoyed it very much, so when I learnt that they were remastering it for Xbox One I was excited to say the least. Thankfully they’ve done Turok justice with the remaster and whilst it has a few niggling problems I enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane. The gameplay is as fun as ever and the classic FPS style is evident from the get go. I remember however back in the day that it was quite difficult and it feels more difficult now so expect a few frustrating moments every now and then. Something that really drew me in when it came to the original was the level design, and thankfully it’s as good as ever in the remaster and I would go as far to say that it has even more variety this time around. The controls that are present in the game also feel better this time around and I was surprised by how fluid and responsive they felt throughout. My biggest gripe with the original Turok was the lack of content and unfortunately the same applies here. I would have definitely liked to have had a little more because it does feel a little on the short side. I will say though that the content that is here is very fun and enjoyable and the best thing is that it doesn’t really have any technical issues. I must admit that this did surprise me because I did think it would suffer with a few issues here and there, but thankfully it’s pretty much flawless most of the time. The presentation side of the game is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand you have the sound design which is excellent and you can definitely tell that some improvements have gone in here. On the other hand though the visuals don’t seem to have improved that much and I was definitely hoping for a bit more here. At the end of the day Night Dive Studios have without a doubt done a very good job with the remaster of Turok and if you’ve played it before this remaster will make you enjoy it again whilst also bringing back fond memories. It’s not perfect but nor was the original and that’s kind of what gives the game its charm and if you’ve never played it before then I recommend you give it a try because it’s a classic that holds up really well in the modern era.… Full Review »

    If you were a fan of the original N64 game, there is nothing but perfection here. The controls adapt well to the Xbox controller. TheIf you were a fan of the original N64 game, there is nothing but perfection here. The controls adapt well to the Xbox controller. The gameplay besides a boot in graphics is identical. Sound and animation is spot on. I played an hour on the N64 version before picking up the Xbox One version and besides the graphic overhaul it identical. The new graphics are nothing special, and only show the age of the game. But as a huge fan of the original, this is all I could ask for.… Full Review »
