Despite the game's good presence, the lack of a coherent story makes it far from being considered an outstanding indie.

Truberbrook effortlessly stands out on the merits of its uniquely gorgeous presentation, its stellar voice work, and its overall decent writing. Unfortunately, the whole ordeal religiously falters as far as its core functionality and its puzzle design is concerned. The end result makes for an adventure that seemingly looks like nothing else, but largely plays like a poor imitation of any given point-and-click game worth its salt.

Despite feeling easy there's plenty of creativity in the puzzles and it never made me feel frustrated during my journey. Point-and-click adventures are great, Truberbrook even got my girlfriend to sit with me, and play along even in a 1 player affair we can share in the enjoyment. This along without overly complex problem solving we both felt at home because I often find games in this genre to contain a story that stays interesting from start to finish and Truberbrook definitely does contain a story that stays interesting throughout but this game does also feature a few setbacks along the way. Which may stop it from entering as the best games from within the genre will. Thankfully in the end it gets slightly more right than wrong and without a doubt something it gets extremely right is its art, and overall audio and visual presentation. This added immersiveness is a good save, because it helps offset a level of immersiveness that’s lost due to the game’s few issues we have already discussed. In terms of the gameplay this game features the usual point-and-click formula with plenty of fun and puzzles to solve during the story. Truberbrook isn’t a bad game, it's just priced relatively high for what is at it's core. The difficulty may have been intentionally left easier to appeal to a broader audience. What's here is worth plying especially if you're a fan of the genre. You may just want to wait on a sale to get in at a more competitive price point if this isn't your usual cup of tea. Full Review »
