Now, i'm a big lego fan. I love building. And i had tons and tons of fun and hours into this game even before i read a review. So i felt compelled to say something nice here, seeing the bad reviews.
The game has it's flaws on console. Limited build cap. Some lag with huge builds. It freezes at least 1 time per evening (but saves are always kept, and it's up and running on my xbox

The game has it's flaws on console. Limited build cap. Some lag with huge builds. It freezes at least 1 time per evening (but saves are always kept, and it's up and running on my xbox series s in no time) . So no gamechanger. Also the game fails to start from the beginning every 1 on 3 times. But this is also managed by starting the game again, and 30 sec later you're in.
The graphics aren't special. The worlds could do with some more stuff. etc
But where the game really shines is the building of stuff. Keep in mind, i love lego, and i didnt had any issues with the limited amount of blocks that some of the people here are talking about. you can turn and tilt blocs. You can adjust every hinge and rotor/axle etc. there are many options in changing the physics in things. We had some good updates with logical blocks. We had the High seas dlc that adds new blocks too. You can make a unique vehicle with only a few dozen blocks. I've seen the wildest creation in the store uploaded by others/ Almost endless possibilities.
So, for the amount of fun i had with building stuff alone this game is a well deserved 8 for me. Warts and all. Don't let the few downsides hold you back to buy this great builder. Cuz even with it's limitation cap in blocks, the builds can still get pretty complicated. Sometimes the possibilities seem endless .. Again. Try it. If you like making vehicles and other stuff with wheels, engines, wings etc etc, This wil give you plenty of decent fun.

Trailmakers is right on the cusp of being something great. There are a lot of tools here, and pieces that can be used to build anything imaginable. The focus is on creativity, and this is for anyone that liked building their own LEGO original creations, rather than following the instructions. If everything about this was as good as the customization, this would be an easy recommendation for just about everyone. Unfortunately, what exactly they let you do with your toys is less exciting, and the "game" part of the game needed a bit more work. It has the feel of building a top of the line, brand new Ferrari, and then only being able to race it around the local supermarket parking lot. With a bit more work, this could've been exceptional, but for now it feels stuck in neutral.
