Tracks – The Train Set Game on Xbox One is a game for the creators and the builders of worlds. It’s a game where you could happily lose a hundred hours making a multi-piece railway line that twists and turns around a kitchen table like an award-winning piece of architecture.

Overall, it was a fun game for what it is. It is a basic train builder, with fairly simple controls and a huge canvas for you to take creative control over. For the low price of $19.99 USD, you can play the game as you wish, and you will have the chance to relive moments from building the train tracks from your youth.

This an experience that makes no demands, and expects nothing from you except peaceful, meditative creativity. It's total lack of meaningful progression won't be for everyone, but if you've been hammering at some stressful shooter all night, we recommend that you boot up a quick session of Tracks before bed to settle your nerves.

Being able to jump straight in to everything right from the start is a huge bonus, and being free of limitations – at least in terms of how far a toy village can go, of course – is a breath of fresh air.

You can't delete a lot of pieces you place. The timed "missions" have far too short of time limits, especially given how wonky the controls are. I've gotten stuck in the "toy box" before, where I couldn't select any pieces. Passengers don't get out at the stops in Free Play mode, and there's no obvious way to make them disembark from your train. Great concept, but it lacks A LOT of polish, to the point that it's unplayable, in my opinion. I give it a 2 because if it were playable, it would be a really fun sandbox game. Full Review »
