I think this is an amazing concept for a game, but the execution is incredibly poor, at least in Xbox. The controls just kill this game: camera control is poor. You can't delete a lot of pieces you place. The timed "missions" have far too short of time limits, especially given how wonky the controls are. I've gotten stuck in the "toy box" before, where I couldn't select any pieces.I think this is an amazing concept for a game, but the execution is incredibly poor, at least in Xbox. Passengers don't get out at the stops in Free Play mode, and there's no obvious way to make them disembark from your train. Great concept, but it lacks A LOT of polish, to the point that it's unplayable, in my opinion. I give it a 2 because if it were playable, it would be a really fun sandbox game. Expand

Overall, it was a fun game for what it is. It is a basic train builder, with fairly simple controls and a huge canvas for you to take creative control over. For the low price of $19.99 USD, you can play the game as you wish, and you will have the chance to relive moments from building the train tracks from your youth.

People who love making model worlds (specifically with trains) and kids will likely get more out of this than I did. The ability to remap controls would go a long way with me though and I would jump back in to give it another shake, if for nothing else it brings back some nostalgia of playing with wooden Thomas the Tank Engine toys. While my score may reflect my current opinion on the game, Tracks is on Game Pass and it is extremely family friendly so there’s nothing to lose with trying it out.

There’s no real way to measure the length of time you’ll spend playing this. It’s all based around your personal desire to build and create your own masterpiece. Want easy achievements? Then you’ll be happy to know it has them. While it wasn’t something I could spend any more than a few hours tinkering around with, I can admire the possibilities for others. It has a great theme, extremely child-friendly, and the wooden tracks look excellent. As a whole, it’s a nice package that will either bore you or open up your imagination and give you countless hours of joy.
