If you've never set foot in the world of Skyrim then now's the time to get your feet wet. Still one of the best RPGs to date and that's not just nostalgia talking.

Fundamentally, stepping back into Skyrim is like revisiting one of your favorite places as a child. Everything is like you remembered it, except it's been redecorated and modernized.

Skyrim Special Edition brings whatever you want in terms of duration and deeply enjoyable RPG experience, but it could be a much better remaster with more polish.

A valid remaster job, with good visual improvements and tons of new contents due to the added mods support. Owners of the original game are a bit let down due to the lack of a savegame import feature and high price point, but it's definitely recommended to anyone who never played the game so far.

The updated graphics may not feel truly current-gen to Xbox One and PS4 players, but the quality and originality of the game’s mechanics and setting are still a step above the competition.

Xbox One owners will be super pleased –– thanks to Bethesda’s ongoing mod support since the release of Fallout 4, you’ll get access to over 200 mods at the time of writing. PS4 players aren’t so fortunate, and will likely be disappointed by the paltry number choose from –– Sony’s 1GB limit on mod files means that the mods themselves are limited to more cosmetic changes that don’t nearly explore the vast potential that a community driven bank of content provides.

Sure, it’s still awesome in scope and there’s a ton of content in the package, but it only offers minimal visual improvements, dated gameplay, and inexplicable legacy bugs. Unless someone defines their RPG experience by sun rays and water effects, this reissue just doesn’t represent a notable improvement over the original. Still, for those who aren’t yet Dragonborn, this is the best way to become so.

And now console users are gaining access to mods as well. This is imo, an important step in console gaming. As a PC user I would like to apologize for all of the jaded "Supreme master race" PC users who are gonna talk crap. We've been playing modded Skyrim for years and while it's true that the Special Edition doesn't offer anything new to PC users, it's free for anyone who already owns the content included in this version of the game. So there is absolutely no reason for PC users to be spreading any negativity about this remaster. For console users this is an amazing value and certainly worth it. Expand

A really fun game in an exciting universe.
The introduction is a classic, having a dragon appear during your execution. I was pulled into the universe and it’s civil war.
The magic and combat may feel outdated now. But i find it incredibly fun to explore, fight, loot and quest my way around the world. The factions are all fun. The cities are all themed in cool ways.
I would recommend not finishing the main quest straight away, but to play side quests and explore the world so that you really know the world first. The civil war storyline is great, but you will change the fate of cities through it. So I would recommend travelling these cities first and enjoying the world.

In matter of fact, it's my first Elder Scrolls game I've played. The amount of detail and amount of things to do are seemingly endless. I'm thoroughly enjoying my first play through. I can understand the frustration from previous owners, but like I said, this is my first time purchasing and playing Skyrim. Expand

But damn, since its 1st release this RPG is a masterpiece and not a random filling of quests.

There was no reason to make this remaster, Skyrim is not that old and this remaster sucks, it doesn't really improve the game.
