    Underwhelming RPG elements and character customisation, poor loading times and a map screen that now seems to have a mind of its own do hold back the game from being something great. Those with a penchant for a tightly woven narrative and tactical thinking will enjoy the experience, but it is difficult to overlook some of the more glaringly obvious problems.

    The Dwarves is a good game which is elevated by its story more than its gameplay. It’s complex and the unique visual design of the characters and the great voice acting make the experience. Unfortunately, the performance problems detract from the package even after the recent update. The problem with the flickering markers on the map is another major annoyance.

    The Dwarves boasts a strong story that's taken from a bestselling novel, and it generally honors that lineage with a cast of likable and ably voiced characters. It's a good foundation, but unfortunately it's not strong enough to make up for the deficiencies of its gameplay, which include unfulfilling RPG elements and a stubborn camera.

    I loved the diversity of characters and their abilities in battle. There are some truly interesting mechanics at play here. The bottom line though, is that it is rarely fun to engage in combat. I got frustrated at the useless AI, and starting over battles constantly was a real drag. The world of The Dwarves is interesting, and maybe with some patches down the road this can become a game I can get behind, as it stands now though, this is a tough sell.

    The only really good part about The Dwarves is the characters and the world they live in. It’s an interesting tale, and one I’d gladly sit through if the combat was improved, load times were decreased, or any of the RPG elements had more depth.

    Great part of the games is its translation from the novel dwarves. Good story line and inresting characters. Although at times it jumps a bit through the book storyline, but hey its a game :) Talking about the game, thats not that good tbh. I like the map and how you are free to choose a path, and stuff that happens in between gives you actually some choices and they will have effect on events later. The combat is an intresting mix and the fights can be hard and unforgiving. Also i am not a big fan of real live action, that you have to pause every couple of seconds. Either make it that you can handle it live with sometimes a break or make a turnbased game. Not what they are using here. The biggest drawback of the game are the long loading times, and if they where sometimes, it wouldnt be a bug deal but there are a lot of them.… Full Review »

Déjà que parfois, de gros studios triple A se cassent les dents sur ce genre si exigeant, alors pensez donc, des branques et des stagiaires qui n'ont aucune idée de qu'ils font, ça ne peut aboutir qu'à des catastrophes industrielles.

    Et en plus, ça pollue le genre, des étrons pareils, ce n'est pas bien, pas bien du tout de démouler n'importe comment de telles infamies vidéo-pas-ludiques. En outre, s'attaquer à la tarte à la crème de la Fantasy, à savoir ces bons vieux nains usés jusqu'à la corde, préjuge déjà du degré de stupidité et d'amateurisme des programmeurs (qui sont des... nains dans leur domaine).

    Ainsi, en matière de clichés et de poncifs, on a tout ce qu'il faut dans "The Dwarves" pour un vrai festin de lieux communs noyés dans un monde générique et une intrigue poussive et remâchée, rabâchée, recrachée en un gloubi-boulga informe qui ferait bondir Casimir d'horreur. Les voix anglaises sont affreuses avec de surcroît la voix de la narratrice qui tombe comme un cheveu sur la soupe lors des dialogues périmés.

    Le système de combat qui hésite entre le haque et slache bourrin et un temps pausé tactique aérien se viande sur les deux tableaux : c'est un mauvais haque et la tactique (?) est inutilisable en raison d'une interface et d'une confusion hors-norme dans les batailles. Batailles qui mettent en oeuvre beaucoup de personnages non-joueurs qui se mettent sur la gueule, juste pour faire "genre"... mais comme dans n'importe quel haque de bas étage en fin de compte.

    Surtout que la technique limitée mais presque correcte doit composer avec des ralentissements lamentables lors de ces batailles -et même en dehors parfois- et des temps de chargement fréquents et longuets.

    La pauvreté des moyens implique de nombreux dialogues qui ne sortent pas de leur boîte, comme on en faisait dans les années 90... et encore. On se fait chier avec ces nabots idiots à un point rarement atteint : c'est niais, banal et convenu, pour ne pas dire totalement ridicule.    … Full Review »
