Tacoma is a Sci Fi tale of a crew aboard a ship, and the challenges they face. I can tell you right from the start that this game lacks any kind of personality. You're main objective is to find out what happens to the crew, and to obtain an AI. Even after beating the game, and getting all 1000 gamerscore, I can't tell you a single person's name on the crew. You're main objective is to find out what happens to the crew, and to obtain an AI. Even after beating the game, and getting all 1000 gamerscore, I can't tell you a single person's name on the crew. They were that uninteresting. And though there are some interesting plot developments throughout, it just cannot compare to other walking sims like: Oxenfree, Firewatch, What Remains of Edith Finch, etc. Even Gone Home is better, and I'm not the biggest fan of that game either. You go to certain areas of the ship and receive AR logs of what happened in that moment in time. While you watch, you can scrub through the log to find certain crew members bring up their own AR logs so you can read their files, emails, photos, etc. There are some passcodes you'll need to find to open certain doors/lockers to progress. Other than searching out for passcodes, and listening to AR logs, there's just not much to do. And as I've said, the crew themselves, and the overarching plot, just isn't interesting. I can't believe how anticlimactic the ending is. Overall the game just feels pointless, and I was bored through most of it. Unfortunately, the game is prone to crash as well. I only encountered one, but a lot of people have complained about multiple crashes and bugs. The graphics are ok, and the voice acting is good, and as I've said there are some interesting plot points, but other than that this game is wholly unremarkable. I played this game on Gamepass, but other than if you want an easy 10000 gamerscore, I'd skip this game completely, just not worth your time. Expand

This is the worst game I've played in many years. I'm giving it 1 star only because it's original in concept, even if the execution is horrid. You play the part of an investigator of some kind, and you have the ability to replay augmented reality type recreations of scenes in various environments throughout the space station. By doing so you can unlock the secrets about what really happened and why everyone had to mysteriously evacuate.

Now this had the potential to be interesting, but the way it plays out watching these people go about their daily lives is like watching paint dry. They have long drawn-out conversations about nothing, and the few surprises never rise about mild predictable drama. It's like eavesdropping on the teacher's lounge for a couple hours. I found myself fast-forwarding through almost all of it.

A clever and absorbing interactive story set in an expertly built sci-fi world.

Tacoma is a great experience that’s not only wonderfully designed and produced, it’s one that that richly illustrates a side of videogames that’s worthy of further exploration. I would happily recommend it to nearly anyone – the themes and emotions here will resonate.

I may not entirely love where it winds up, but the journey getting to that point is so pitch-perfect, it'd be wrong of me to say it's anything other than a must-play experience for people who enjoy a good walking simulator.
