    Super Dungeon Bros is so focused on the co-op multiplayer that leaves behind all the fun that the single player could have offered.

    Super Dungeon Bros adds some fun and flair to a classic genre by never taking itself too seriously. Pick a rock god and run through level upon level of dungeons in order to wipe out enemies and find all the best loot.

    Super Dungeon Bros has many good points on his side, such the enjoyable cooperative multiplayer and the smart aesthetic, but has also numerous flaws that prevents it to be an overly good dungeon crawler.

    A mildly fun multiplayer experience at best, and a flawed, derivative dungeon crawler at worst. Good for some fun with friends in short bursts, but has a knack for growing old rather quickly, especially when venturing out solo.

    Super Dungeon Bros. is one of those games that is best described as inoffensive. It doesn't do anything wrong, but at the same time it doesn't do anything right, either. It is a perfectly fine multiplayer experience for roughly an hour or so, before things start to get boring and blend together. Single-player is not nearly as enjoyable, and the online player-base is essentially completely dead, but if you can wrangle up a friend (or three), there are certainly worse ways to spend an afternoon.

    Super Dungeon Bros isn't an awful game but it does itself no favours at the same time. If you manage to convince three friends to pick it up it can be fun, otherwise you may find yourself disappointed.

    I'll admit I was looking forward to Super Dungeon Bros before playing. I love the genre, and a caricatured metal mash-up could have been interesting, but the game disappoints on all fronts. I like how much emphasis React put on co-op but it needed more under the hood - more choices for character building, more control, more abilities, just more.

    In theory this is pleasantly presented no-frills coop-action with cartoon visuals. But the technical foundation is not sound enough. Loading times, camera positions, framerate and collision detection are substandard.

    There are good ideas in Super Dungeon Bros, such as the inclusion of challenges, the Call of Duty-esque upgrades, and the team-work centred dungeon-crawling. Where it falls down is at the basics: good, satisfying combat and challenging gameplay.

    Super Dungeon Bros is not the first Games with Gold title this year that seems to have been rushed to release, unfortunately. It's broken in many ways and boring in several others. To the former, those issues can be resolved and the studio at the helm seems intent on doing so, but even if those blemishes are addressed, what shall remain will still be a mostly forgettable freebie that can serve some purpose as a couch co-op game. With better options for sale even in its own genre, it's more likely that SDB will sit in your digital library without a chance of ever actually taking up hard drive space.

It looks a bit like Diablo, but is a bit more simple and focused solely on a "get to the end of the level" type mentality. On a very basic level the game functions as a decent co-op brawler type thing, but it has some very weird gameplay decisions that drag the whole thing down. Most notably bad are the thoroughly unbalanced weapons in the game. As you play the game, you slowly earn enough currency to unlock different weapons that behave differently and offer players different play styles. The problem is that there are huge disadvantages to using some the weapons; for example the crossbows and guns have to be re-loaded in combat which basically makes the game literally impossible to play. Magic wands, on the other hand, let give you ranged attacks with no drawbacks and melee weapons allow you to deal with the constant flow of melee enemies. In this respect, the game feels a bit like Gauntlet; you are going to get hurt a lot, the question is how do you deal with it? The other really poor game design aspect is that the game is virtually unplayable for a single person. The difficulty spikes are quite massive, and only a 2 or 3 player team will be able to get to any decent depth in the dungeon. I'm not sure what would have been so hard to create a proper scaling mechanic (Diablo 2 was doing this over 10 years ago), but there isn't one so if you aren't playing with other people, it's highly doubtful you'll get much further than depth 2 or 3. The grinding to get currency to buy more weapons and such is pretty bad as well.
    Additionally, the game has some weirdly long load times for a game that it so relatively simplistic. Between levels, loading the menu, etc... can take nearly 1-2 minutes which is pretty crazy. I have to wonder if it's attached the game's oddly huge 5 gig size, which suggests some poor optimization and/or compression issues? (for comparison, Skyrim, before DLC, is around 6 gigs) With some fairly minor tweaks, this would be a fun, casual dungeon crawler, but it kinda feels like a chore as it is now.    … Full Review »

Donc, j'en prends bonne note : "ne pas renouveler".

    Donc comme le mois précédent, on a une espèce de petite merde indé programmée avec le moteur préféré des indés, à savoir "Unity", sans doute parce qu'il est gratuit et qu'il n'affiche que 256 couleurs, ce dont le "développeur" indépendant se félicite, car pour garder en effet la "fraîcheur" intacte, il est recommandé de se limiter à une demi-douzaine de couleurs simultanées à l'écran, les plus criardes possibles, merci.

    Alors cela dit, une sorte de "hack and slash" jouable en coopération jusqu'à 4 joueurs, j'ai comme l'impression que ça sent le poisson reconstitué recyclé recongelé... avec des temps de chargement assez éloquents en prime !

    Répétitif et particulièrement con, doté en outre d'un humour décalé de "djeunz" fumeur de moquette quadrizomique, Super Duncon Bros (sup)porte bien haut le flambeau de son caniveau dans lequel il a été boulotté par quelques crevards qui font assurément pitié.    … Full Review »
