As a complement to the TV series, Stranger Things 3: The Game is an interesting title. It has very successful elements, such as its aesthetics and dialogues, but fails in others, such as side quests.

Deep, fun, and wholly entertaining, Stranger Things 3: The Game is a must-have treat that sits remarkably well with its exceptional source material. Despite some hit and miss puzzle work, everything from the combat and the progression framework, right the way through to the world design and its many hidden secrets, collectively put forward a well paced, well balanced adventure that rarely grows tiresome. If you love the show, you’ll love this.

Stranger Things 3: The Game does some things really well and some others not so much. However, it’s a good way of rediscovering the events of the third season.

Stranger Things 3: The Game is an entertaining experience, especially for the fans of the TV Show, and while the first half of it is kind of boring and repetitive, it'll recover in the second half with some good Beat'em Up gameplay.

Stranger things 3: the game is the proper last season of the show adapted to a videogame. A pixel-art projection of everything that the atmosphere created by Netflix manages to evoke.

All in all, it’s a fun throwback, hugely disposable and with a shelf life about as long as people are still talking about Stranger Things. Still, don’t let that stop you from enjoying it. [Issue#181, p.81]

The pacing is generally good, but it feels less punchy than the show. On occasion, things are dragged out more than necessary with a lot of toing and froing.

Even if its pretty straight-forward, Stranger Things 3: The Game is well-made and funny. It’s a well-balanced game focusing on the fans. The other ones may think it is repetitive and lacking strong characters.

Stranger Things 3: The Game delivers a retro-style experience with many different characters and the same story of the Netflix series' last season, but also simple and uninspiring gameplay.

As a big fan of Stranger Things, I found some decent fun to be had with ST3TG. It’s genuinely exciting to take control of these characters we’ve gotten to know over the past three seasons, even as 16-bit renditions of themselves. I also really loved discovering the locations we’ve seen on the show. The fan service on display here might be enough to sell enthusiasts of the show, however, it’s tough to recommend this for anyone who hasn’t seen it.

Stranger Things 3: The Game manages to be 'Before It's Time' past it's time. Set in 1985 following a story congruent the the Netflix Original,Stranger Things 3: The Game manages to be 'Before It's Time' past it's time. Set in 1985 following a story congruent the the Netflix Original, Stranger Things 3, if it were a retro video game. ST3:TG is an overhead 'Beat 'em Up' style game, featuring 12 Characters each with their own unique playstyle and special ability available to play, rendered in glorious 16bit graphic style. Some places in game are only accessible by certain team members, so take note of places you can't pass for later! Find various items in the game, to later use to craft add-ons to make your team tougher. There are always two characters on screen and some of the puzzles and area restriction require you switch in between Characters to pass. Got another controller, and a friend, then trust the AI no longer! Run through the game in Couch Co-op, and lend each other a hand. The game is immensely fun for anyone that loves a good retro-styled Beat 'Em Up whether or not they are a fan of Stranger Things. Also, a word for the fans out there, if you aren't up to date, it plays along side of the real story, so Spoiler Alert! Overall this is a very well made game, and stands tall in it's genre. It's a must for Fans of the series, and a good grab for anyone that likes this style of game. Warning, if you don't watch the series already, this game will make you want to! Full Review »

What could have been a first class game let down so badly by shockingly bad game mechanics at crucial game moments
