    The combat is amazing! Maybe some of the best you will ever get at this gen, also just wait for the final battle to knock your socks off!

    worth it and glad to play this game again. so much memories and nostalgia within this spin off game in the series.

    Me gustaría empezar mi periplo por Metacritc reseñando un juego que lo veía como una de las grandes decepciones del año pero aquí ha acabadoMe gustaría empezar mi periplo por Metacritc reseñando un juego que lo veía como una de las grandes decepciones del año pero aquí ha acabado siendo una de las sorpresas del año, precuela del primer FF donde cuenta una buena historia con personajes que no son los más carismáticos de la saga pero si caen bien, el giro final no lo esperás, el combate contra los jefes es brutal, muchos trajes y armas para los protagonistas y un decente árbol de habilidades que le dan ese componente estratégico, la jugabilidad es muy buena tirando a lo Final Fantasy 15, gran banda sonora, el modo Kaos que le da un Plus extra además de misiones secundarias y un multijugador qué garantizan horas y horas… Expand

It's a brutal FF with graphic violence, gore, and enemy executions. The multiple references to FF1 (at least the Dawn & Soul version of GBA) with the map, the script, the names, the locations, the dialogues, the prophecy, the villains (The 4 elemental demons Litch, Marilith, Kraken, Tiamat and Garland/Chaos), Princess Sara, Astos the elf prince, the Levi stone, Cornelia, Elfeim, Mount Kolts... even some references to Chronodia, everyone is there, everyone was invited. The skill tree and the way to unlock jobs more similar to an MMORPG

    The bad
    The graphics are not consistent (there are spectacular and well-designed parts and others on the side that are poorly done or the textures are very basic). The more “realistic” character designs are more generic and look like something out of a Neverwinter, Bless Unleashed or FFXIV type MMORPG. Dungeons are very dark not only in the light sense but also in the dark sense. Just because you don't see the mini map but actually the dungeons are interconnected corridors (and here they don't make drama like with FFXIII). Cities exist but they are anecdotal. The story is told with flashbacks and events as a mission (before the adventure there is a chat menu to talk with villagers and guards about mission topics and certain impressions of the trip and sometimes they give clues. You have to level a lot, the dungeons they have a minimum party level to deal with (so you will have to go over and over and over and over and over the same dungeon from top to bottom and left to right doing side quests to level up and go to the next dungeon). If you omit this number and enter with a lower level, it is certain that you will die many times and you will be frustrated. The plot/script is anecdotal coming from a game that improves the plot of the NES FF1 that is non-existent and from a bygone era of videogames where this item was non-existent, even taking the GBA FF1 Down and Soul script as a reference, but there are many freedoms, coincidences, conveniences and plot-twists that take you out of the story.

    The Meh!:
    Jack alias "Mr Revenge against chaos" only thinks about that and apparently he has nothing better to do, his Line-motive is sad, I don't believe that this violent and hateful guy is destined to be "the Warrior of the Light” of the FF1 or the one that appears in Dissidia, because of his hatred he seems more like a Warrior of Darkness. It bothers me a lot that the industry is moved by fads, impulses to imitate what others are doing and cheap clichés, so what could have been an FF1 Remake, remains in one more "Soul Like" of the lot set in the world of FF1 with his characters and wearing sneakers shoes    … Expand

Fanboys of dark souls are a big problem with this game as well saying the combat is good but they fail to realize this isn't their franchise. This isn't dark souls. This is our game. They defend it being a dark souls game with their fighting mechanics as an excuse to (get good) but it is so hypocritical because if this was their series of games they would be pissed if their game turned into an ff like game. Let's see how they would feel if we turned Elden ring into an ff game. I feel like I gave this review a good score for how I feel and other true ff fans would feel. It is a bad review because this is an ff game and not dark souls. It could have been great if they focused more on the performance and RPG and made it into an ff game and not dark souls.… Expand

    Game is good until you get to endgame. If you want access to the DLCs it forces you to play and farm at the hardest difficulty which is WAYGame is good until you get to endgame. I am a big fan of souls games and completed all of them up to at least NG+++, every one of them. I have no problems with punishing gameplay. But SoP is bad on tuning difficulty and forcing you to play at higher diff for the DLCs is just plain disrespectful.… Expand
