  • Summary: The clock has stopped around the turn of the 19th century, and humankind has prematurely blown itself to bits. The remaining scraps are huddling in caves beneath the surface, and steam-powered robots have taken over the Wild West.

Steamworld Dig is all about exploring the great underground unknown, and all about the promise of something cool and mysterious waiting for you if you'll just dig a little deeper. The Xbox One version of the game may not bring anything new to the table, but that doesn't make it any less worthwhile if you haven't already played it.

Steamworld Dig is a simple game that capitalizes on a simple concept and uses it to its advantage.

A great twist on a genre almost as old as gaming itself, SteamWorld Dig gives platforming an injection of life and spirit that stands out from the crowd in this age of blockbuster gaming. It's worth playing for many reasons, but the fresh way it handles platforming is reason enough itself.

This is one platform game that should not be missed.

SteamWorld Dig's ramshackle caverns are a threat to traverse, and while Rusty's underground excursion is over a little too quickly, there are plenty of distractions to be found on the way. [Issue#127, p.84]

The exploration is awesome. The upgrade system is awesome. The game was just awesome. Its available on damn-near every platform and if you haven’t played it yet you definitely should.

An absorbing gameplay, thanks to a very well crafted advancement system, makes SteamWorld Dig a worthwile game even if it could have done a bit more on the variety front.

    Pros:
    - Cool powers and upgrades added as you progress
    - I had a lot of fun just digging through and making paths
    - Final boss was pretty tight

    Cons:
    - Almost wish there was more platforming
    - Wish there was more bosses as well
    - The very beginning (before warps were introduced) I didn't understand (or missed) how to get upgraded and started that you had to return to the surface a couple times

The main cons being the necessity to go back way too much in the first 2/3 of the game, making it a bit frustrating, but once again, the upgrades make it more fluid along the run. Expand

This Game !!!! it took me back to when my love for gaming started with dig dug in the 90’s. The 2D platform works great.

You actually have to think about your moves; if you don’t then life is made a lot harder for you trying to play this game.

It’s one of them games were you find yourself addicted, Very easily and quickly. The start of the game starts a little hard work and slow, but once you start picking the correct tools and perks you’re soon on your way.

Compared to top platform games it does somewhat sit behind them, but if your wanting to work your mind and have a little fun then BUY THIS GAME.
