The game was fun while it lasted. Once I finished the first map, I haven't been very inclined to play more. i do have a slight interest in the latest mode added though.

The game is 0 points. Because it bothers you very quickly, it does not make sense, there is little content, stupid enemies, stupid tasks. But the price tag is like a good AA game. Lags at first on consoles. Another trash from Microsoft.

The amount of negative reviews is downright BS. Everyone holding this 30 dollar game to the standards of full priced AAA studios. Ridiculous. SoD2 improved on every aspect of its predecessor. Period.

Its not perfect for sure but critics and users scoring it lower than the first game are just ignorant.

Right away, I noticed that the studio did not try to get brazen and repair something that wasn't broken; which was the core gameplay. You still run communities, scavenge and handle the undead the same, but there have been some welcome changes like improvements to combat and overall map design. Personally, I like that they played it safe and improved on what worked.
The added co-op only seems to make the game easier, which to me seemed annoying. You'd figure, the more non-AI players you have, the harder the game gets; requiring you to work together to survive.

All I got, was players handing buttloads of supplies, high powered weapons and ammo. (Which is nice, but really kills the whole point of survival.) Personally, I prefer AI to normal players for this type game *shrugs* Although, there is a lot of untapped potential for multiplayer in a game like this.

Then there are the bad things. Bugs are still bad and quest still have disappearing NPCs. Thankfully, the developers did give us a quick fix, know as the "stuck" command. Yep, you can radio to have you or car unstuck if you glitch. (Provided zombies are stomping your ass, while doing this. Which they will.) Also, you can't play this game for longer that 3 hours. After that, you will get bored and frustrated (provided you aren't surviving well, which happens A LOT) Granted, this one doesn't really stack the odds against you as bad as playing SoD1's Breakdown DLC.

Questing is pointless, save for gaining new survivors, who also seem to have less personality than it's predecessor. In regards to questing, the game falls flat. Had they added a story section to each region, it would've given the scavenging and expanding, a sense of purpose.

State of Decay 2 truly is improvement in terms of core gameplay, but leaves you feeling hollow with its lack of a good story and hordes of game bugs. Killing zombies and building yourself to survive it all is still fun, but that is where its at.

Which is a shame, because the developer could've done so much more. Maybe its because M$ didn't throw enough checks at them for a good quality QA team and writers. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a ton of improvement from this tiny studio, but there was a lot of potential to be had, considering that Microsoft had so few 1st party titles to carry their system.

I'll still play it, but if your not a fan of the game, this will be a pass.

The big change for me was that with every save you create you get a different set of characters and a different map meaning if you want to start over it doesn’t feel like boring and monotonous. But after a few hours no matter the save it starts to feel just that boring and monotonous, it feels as if you’re doing the same thing over and over and by the end of it I wasn’t doing things because I wanted to but because I don’t want things to get any worse for my play session hoping it would mean I could do some more things that I wanted to do but that never happened, and after a few hours of the same style of missions you just begin to pray for some time to do what you want to do.
However, the implementation of multiplayer may combat this issue with friends making it more fun, however I did not play any of the multiplayer and from what I’ve seen it’s not entirely a smooth experience. This is why I haven’t used the multiplayer to inform my score since I see both positives and negatives and without playing it I can’t assess which creates a stronger feeling of enjoyment or distain.
Another issue is the glitches, they’re bountiful. It’s not uncommon to run into something that is obviously unintentional and it destroys the sense of emersion that is essential for a game designed to give you the chance to act as if you’re apart of this zombie apocalypse.
Overall, I don’t regret my choice to play the game but I don’t think I would care too much if I missed it entirely. Once again a Xbox semi-exclusive doesn’t compare to the games like Detroit, God of War & Spiderman (from what we’ve seen it seems set to be an instant classic).

State of Decay 2 has a lot going for it if you're into the genre - it's both extremely frustrating and very addicting. For as ambitious as it's scope you can't help but notice they only slapped one coat of paint on it at times, but i generally don't complain too much about slight technical glitches if the core gameplay mechanic is solid. For as ambitious as it's scope you can't help but notice they only slapped one coat of paint on it at times, but i generally don't complain too much about slight technical glitches if the core gameplay mechanic is solid. Where I would call it's level of resource management rather overwhelming and meticulous, if you press through it you'll eventually see the logic of its ways.

This game is mostly run-of-the-mill fetch questing in an open world environment. You set up a base and then fortify it with other random survivors you find on the map. It does a good job of covering what would be considered necessary basics in the zombie apocalypse in a very general sense that becomes more natural to you through trial and error.

It's really a low-impact game, and doesn't require a lot of twitchy focus to have a good time - that being said the name of the game is BE PREPARED. If you run out looking for supplies without some of your own, things may turn sour pretty quickly and you'll find your character out of stamina limping away from a car that got glitched on a guard rail - cursing the 4 rucksacks you've squirreled away in the trunk as you save your last burst of dodge power to avoid that flashing dot directly behind you on your radar for a thousand yards or so back to your home base or outpost.

As you use different characters in your community you level up their general stats and this happens pretty quickly, so you get a lot of rewarding feedback from the game regularly that keeps you trekking forward.

I really recommend playing the game more in shorter bursts of an hour or so - after a while constantly calling in on the network to find food because none of your survivors knows how to garden and can't learn a new skill can get tiring, and you may end up losing one of your favorite community members. for good. Honestly your first playthru of this game will be more of a warmup for your next better-planned community, but that mostly depends on how excited you are about getting it better the next time around or moving to a different game.

In closing - there are LOTS of glitches, they will frustrate you a lot at times - you will lose resources and seemingly not be able to finish side quests for no reason without direction. That being said, I like smashing in zombies and managing statistics in video games. I feel the scope and general feeling of reward from taking care of your end times community makes most of these complaints minimal in the grand scheme of open world games today. I'm sure i'll eventually lose interest in it's repetitiveness like I have all other games that follow similar layouts - but I'm definitely enjoying it for the time being and have already gotten my money's worth out of this budget title. Recommended!

pretty good sequel to the first game it improves on every aspect of the first state of decay if you can get past the online issues and glitches and a slightly choppy frame rate it is a good game it can be difficult some times and a difficulty option would be great and the limited co-op needs more and the draw distance is terrible sadly the game just needs support and it will be fine.

For a survivalist game bugs and glitches are the worse thing to encounter. Because every action has real consequences and if your game is bugging out like this one does on a steady basis and new ones forming as if the bugs are AI your frustration overcomes the simplest tasks and its like the bugs are mutating as the game progresses. I.ve never seen anything like it in all my life. You can think of this game as GTA (similar open world, driving, and shooting gameplay) meets Sims (community management, base building, resource management) meets survival zombie game. Your characters permanently die once they are dead but you can recruit new ones. You upgrade a lot of different aspects of your gameplay, from upgrading each individual's stats to giving them perks, to upgrading your base's buildings, resource upkeep, upgrading regular vehicles to armored cars, etc. nearly every aspect of your control you can upgrade which is what I liked. Once you beat the game you can take three of your survivors and start a new community. Depending on which type of character was your leader when you beat it the first time, you unlock a special perk that adds onto your new community with up to four different perks. So you can beat this game 4 times. There are 3 different open world maps you can navigate and every character is different than the last. There are some issues that need to be ironed out like some bugs but if you go into Settings and switch to Offline so that nobody can join your game you will see way less bugs, at least from my experience I rarely run into any issues in Offline mode. If you liked the first State of Decay I think you would like this but it plays out more similarly to the Breakout DLC in SOD1, where it's just an open world map with little story, opposed to the main campaign. With the Ultimate Edition you will get some item unlocks that will be included with purchase but way more in a DLC pack coming later. There is also a completely different campaign DLC that will be released in the future also in the Ultimate Edition pack. All in all, I love these games but there are not for everybody and things can get really hairy, your community can just start dying, people can leave your community, etc. if you're not on top of things but once you get a good grasp on the cake it becomes much more manageable. The looting and RPG mechanics are top notch and the fun factor is 10x better than God of War 4. The graphics on pc and the X are not that bad at all. In fact outside of some soupy textures here and there the game actually looks really good. IMO this game is more of a single player game. The multiplayer would be the part I take points away. I dont like how you cant run through the game with friends and have everything save together. This "helping out" crap is probably the most stupid idea I have ever seen in a game. They need to take note from games like Dying Light. I also think that now that they have been fully acquired by MS the graphics moving forward in future games will look like Dying Light games.

I do feel Xbox games have been unfairly reviewed this entire gen. Whether it be pixels to bugs most reviewers are leaving fun factor out of their reviews and that's BS. This game is incredibly fun and addicting! Over 2 million people bought it a week after it released and every time I am in my local Walmart there aren't any copies available.

But certain aspects of the game have completely ruined it in my opinion. First, fuel runs out in vehicles way too fast. Every vehicle in the game must literally use gallons per mile instead of getting miles per gallon. Second, all zombies should have been just the basic zombie. The developers' obsession with "boss level" enemies/zombies just makes the game too difficult and frustrating at times and ruins the game, especially when all deaths are final and permanent. And the fact that all weapons, melee and firearm, take damage every time they are used is insane. I broke a crowbar after using it against regular zombies maybe a dozen times. In real life, I could hit concrete as hard as I can with a crowbar all day every day and never ever break it. And a pistol I used in the game broke, didn't just run out of ammo, but broke, after only a couple dozen shots. If this game did not have Feral or Juggernaut zombies, guns never wore out, jammed, or broke, ammo was more plentiful, certain melee weapons like crowbars, aluminum and steel bats, and machetes never broke, fuel consumption in vehicles was more realistic for scale distances, vehicles could be repaired automatically when parked in a reserved space at your base if you had a community member with a mechanic skill, and it offered the kind of auto aim option seen in GTA V and GTA Online for non-scoped weapons, and allowed you to look through the scope and zoom in when using a scoped weapon, and you didn't keep getting asked to cover random npcs from other communities in suicide missions, and you didn't need a gardening skill to grow food in a garden, and home base was completely secure with no zombies ever able to get into your base, then this could have been a great game. Especially if it also offered easy ways to upgrade vehicles in the game without requiring a vehicle workshop that I seem unable to even add to my base in spite of having a community member with a 5-star mechanic skill, and a special kit that seems unobtainable. Deben mejorar la versión de Xbox, urgentemente, asi como mejorar animaciones como por ejemplo las de parkour, que son las mas claras y las que mas verdes he visto.

Absolutely ridiculous that they would release this game in the state that it's in. I might be able to write a decent review on the actual game play, if either me or my brother could actually play the game that we just spent $30 on. Nothing but a waste of time and money, both of which I wish I could get back. Unbelievable. Expand

So I created an account just to review this game.
I'm about 15-20 hours into it and I can say it's got me somewhat hooked. The exploring and finding items is great and the atmosphere of the game is what one would expect from a zombie survival game.

The base building and resource/time managment make the game quite tedious and grindy-which I happen to like.
The graphics aren't as bad as most people are saying. Could they have been better? Sure, but it doesn't really take away from the gameplay.
My issues are with the vehicle physics and the fighting.
The vehicles tend to get stuck in the most ridiculous places and more often than not, while surrounded by zombies. It's extremely frustrating to lose a vehicle because it got stuck in the ground.
Secondly the fighting. The gun fights are something you would expect from a first generation console, ridiculously clunky and awkward. The hand to hand is simply a mashing of X or B then RB+X. Very boring and outdated.
Leveling up skills reminds me of GTA and well implemented.
All in all the game is great except for those small complaints and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a challenge.
Thia is definately not your average fps. This is a challenging survival game that tests your ability to manage a growing community during a post apocalyptic setting and the needs and problems associated with such.

I usually don't reduce games to the graphics, but if a title is advertised as THE exclusive savior of the platform with AAA quality, I simply expect more and not outdated graphics. AAA are games like Horizon Zero Dawn. With an experienced and resourceful developer. Don't get me wrong, I love my Xbox, but with exclusives like this, the platform is doomed. After the desaster around Scalebound and the how-can-we-put-as-little-content-as-possible-in-a-game Sea of Thieves, the platform lacks the AAA exclusive games.
However, this review is about State of Decay 2 and not Xbox as a whole. So why did I return my copy to the store after 15 hours of gameplay? It's the classic problem with "open world" games that are advertised as being diverse in terms of content. The game gets repetitive really quickly and even after a few hours I was not immersed into the game. The reason for this might be the annoying bugs I encountered (indicator why it's not AAA) as well as the already mentioned underwhelming graphics.

I can have fun with titles like Minecraft or games that focus on their art style (Okami). But when being promised a high quality game in 2018, I don't expect 2012 graphics. If you don't believe me, look at footage of this game and then compare it to other "big" titles. The price is not justified for how the game is performing in terms of story, bugs and graphics. It hurts to admit it, but this game damaged the Xbox platform more than it helped.

    Don't buy this game.

    Sincerely, a disappointed Xbox fanboy.

Does it need some polishing? Well of course, because survival games with base management is a tough nut to crack. There are so many factors that this game covers that it can be subtitled as Zombie Apocalypse 101. SOD2 literally covers almost every aspect of how to survive and the priorities one needs to make to survive. One example; do you forage for the much needed food, medicine, or materials needed to improve the morale or state of your current stronghold? Or do you answer the call for help from a stranger to improve ties to some unknown neighbors for trade? Undead Labs really took the time to create a game that shows your decisions do matter and it is those decisions that will affect how long you will last.

    Pros
SOD2 is an improvement on the first installment of this series. The graphics are better, the controls feel smoother and the combat is bloodier and more gruesome. I love improving bladed weapons just to see Zombie arms and heads fly across the screen. Each type of Zombie have a wider range of differences and it doesn't feel like I am looking at the same zombie over and over again.
The level up system and the traits of each character seem more polished and refined with the added bonus of each character is completely random and not every member of your group will level up the same way. I will say this STAY AWAY from Pack rats. Idiots take up an extra bed for their crap.
The community feels more alive. The members will voice their opinions and give encouragement or hatred for almost every decision. Undead Labs also included what I feel to be an natural inclusion to everyday survival which are accidents in the home. Lets face it people screw up and make mistakes and sometimes what you just scrounged around for pays the price.

Love the death feature as well, nothing like a kick in the nuts when you lose your best character to a stray pack of walkers with a feral or bloater in the mix to keep the fear alive.

Cons - The missions do get tedious and monotonous but lets face it not much to do in an apocalyptic setting then scrounge, save people, protect your home and rinse and repeat. At least there are no more siege missions with a Juggernaut showing up while fighting 20 zombies, well not yet anyway.
Driving could use some work and the cars are about as brittle and a wet paper bag. So if and when you find a car, suv, or a van; cherish it and keep some tools handy because it will get dinged up or explode from running over one to many zombies or fences.
Decent outpost can be few and far between and the grind it takes to increase the number is tedious with the favor grind taking a good junk of time where it seems like the commercial showing day 600 doesn't seem like an exaggeration since there is the nice football field base that costs 3500 favor to colonize.

All in all this game is definitely worth a look considering it really put into perspective how life during a zombie apocalypse will be managed and the decisions you make do matter. Yes there are some bugs and room for improvement but nothing to be discouraged about and can easily be fixed with a patch or two. This game is a grind and a half but the end result for both bases and characters is worth it. I have already put in 50+ hours remade 5 communities and lost so many characters and still coming back for more. Enjoy the Zombie Genocide and smash some heads for me, Happy Hunting.

I enjoy the way exploring works and I enjoy that you can help people when you want to, the game doesn't force you to veer away from the main quests but I find my self setting off to do one of the quests only to find a survivor in need of help, or an Ally becomes under attack. Trading is a great system in the game that actually has meaning unlike many other RPG games where you can basically craft or loot your way to victory. Not saying you cant do this on SOD2 of course.

Look I'll be honest, I have given it a 10 purely based on people rating it a 0 for a game that has improved since the early access, but at the same time I am comfortable with that rating as I have truly enjoyed growing my colony and giving them my own little backstories haha.

Please do yourself a favor and give this game a go if you enjoy survival elements, base management, or even 3rd person Action. Caters for a lot of audiences, or go pickup a copy of 7 Days to Die which is a great game too haha

A character creator even a basic one is a staple in games these days... vary rarely do games not have a character creator and tell a decent story. It is sorely needed and one of very few things i thought was missing from SoD. The base building is almost the same... except more options and mods.. it needs better options not more... reinforce fencing, expand area... herp a derp???

Larger bases or expandable bases would have been better... more defense options would have been nice.. not even 5 hours in and im getting sieged by zombie hordes every 30 minutes. all i did was build the basics, pharmacy water catch, watch tower oh and removed garbage and fixed the master bedroom. How is that 2 of 3 bars.

Nothing i/we built makes noise... the lookout tower upgraded to level 2 even..nothing makes noise... its not like we have flood lights thanks to good ol electricity.. one of the mods is a generator adding electricity if you refuel it to an area of your base....

SoD allows to you just grab a vehicle and go... SoD2 you need gas for cars and repair kits...... its very tedious early and a waste of inventory space later. i did not want to micro manage every single aspect of a human being.... breathing... its to much micro managing... food, medicine, ammo, salvage... that was what you needed in SoD, now you need water and electricity, gas and some other bs.. oh and cars are much fewer all carry 5-6 items/sacks.

this game just feels really rushed... Haven't they been working on SoD2 for about 4 years now? Wth happened? the blood plague was just a bad **** idea... it gets a bit ridiculous..

I really really liked SoD but SoD2 is missing too much and is far to buggy. even after the updates i lost a vehicle and got stuck just running on top of a stack of bricks in a truck at the nursery. my character got stuck inside the small (should have been easy to jump over) bricks.

Did they even play test this game at all..... the problems i've had already and i literally just bought an x1s and this game... tempted to return both.

While many of these are great games or fun modes, it gets to the point where they all feel the same. When the original State of Decay was released, it was a mixed bactch of old and new mechanics that worked well, but overall was a flawed experience. The one thing that it got right was death: when your character died, there was no reloading a checkpoint to try again - the character and any of the precious items they were holding were gone. You were then given the option to take over one of the other survivors in your encampment. The settlements were one of the things that made the original unique but was a double-edged sword, as the settlement required so much attention that you rarely had time to go out and explore the game world or scavenge for supplies.pres

All in all, the sequel paints a much prettier landscape to explore, but many of the other lingering issues remain. The settlements in this are almost as annoying as Preston Garvey requesting your assistance with a settlement in Fallout 4. Any time I ventured outside of the base, I was told that it was under attack, often meaning I would have to scramble back to avoid a catastrophic loss, which I experienced early in the game on my initial playthrough. Playing the game in co-op is a nice change, but you are required to stay within a close proximity to the host. Allowing you to have one or two of your comrades stay at the base to keep it safe while you and your optional fourth friend scavenge would have been a more ideal situation, but the opportunity for this was passed up. I'm not sure if co-op was an afterthought, but in addition to this limitation, your character will not gain any progress towards their own game when helping out a friend.

Like I mentioned previously, the visuals have been greatly improved, especially the open world. The outdoor aspects are on par with many of the AAA open world titles on the market today. Sadly, the same cannot be said about the interior spaces, which often appear flat and lifeless. You'll also come across many rooms or garages that are carbon copies of the house you were just in minutes before. Since repetition is a huge part of this game, the zombie models are limited as well, with hoards of the same zombies lingering about. While they move well, the visuals accompanying the head-shots are simply dreadful, with the heads popping as if they were nothing but helium filled balloons. I have played and enjoyed games with visuals this bad, if not worse, but it doesn’t help with immersion.

The general control scheme works well, although the lack of direction in the game world as well as the building mechanics makes this title highly inaccessible. During the opening mission, I spent well over a half hour simply trying to find where in the base to drop off the mission specific item I was sent to retrieve. Much like the original, the story mode consists primarily of never ending fetch quests, or going out to search for other settlements to potentially bring into your own. What do the new settlements want, you ask? You can always expect an assortment of fetch quests. I also found it rather startling that while they asked me to go find food, they didn't care that I stole their food sitting out in their camp - not even a harsh word is said.

While the co-op can be satisfying, the overall package and lack of progression make this feel like a self-published release and far from the standard Microsoft has been known for. After the failed release of Sea of Thieves you'd think they would learn their lesson, but at this point it's easy to see why they have been releasing their mediocre first party games for free via the Game Pass subscription service. If you're like me and are a Game Pass subscriber, it's worth a go for a few hours of entertainment, but I would strongly recommend not paying full retail price for State of Decay 2.

El juego tiene algunas cosas por pulir, sobretodo el multijugador donde resaltan más los bugs. Es un juego en el que tienes algo que hacer siempre. Si pulen los bugs que tiene y mejoran la experiencia en el multi puede mejorar bastante.

No way to pause the game, graphics are okay at best, many glitches and bugs, multiplayer is broken, no real campaign, repetitive game play, no real challenge in combat, not a fun experience with all of this.

How this game runs on X is not acceptable. fps is not stable, it may be 30 but it feels much less most of the time. Screen tearing and this "motion blur" must the most aggressive around. Driving physics horrible. Otherwise playable.

Other than the occasional bug (which happens in most games). I'm finding it hard to find damning faults with the title.

If you liked the first its pretty much the same but with a few tweeks. The graphics have improved and the base building/management has expanded further. Its fairly expensive as games go and you can even try it on gamepass on a trial if you haven't already done so.

All in all the game can be challenging but thats to be expected of any survival game. Death is permanent and so thinking about how to approach situations is important.

I've gotten stuck more time then I can count, including a nasty bug that wouldn't let me move my character in a straight line. State of Decay 2 is an open-world zombie survival simulator that is engaging, despite several bugs and glitches that can break the immersion. Players scavenge for supplies, engage in trade or threats to other communities, maintain & improve your home-base, help out other players via the radio calls, or role-play like iconic survivors from movies and TV to act like a total dickhead during the apocalypse. State of Decay 2 is only $29.99 and delivers far more content than some AAA publishers have done (Sea of Thieves; EA Battlefront; Mass Effect Andromeda; etc.). Here's a quick run-through of the good and bad, as well as some improvement ideas for later on:

    Pros:
-Game-play has improved since the first one; adding a new blood plague to confront as well as hostile survivors.
-Expanded map size: There are now 3 maps to explore in the world of SoD2, but they aren't memorable.
-Base-building has been improved since the first game, but I still wish we could build our bases in a similar way to the Sims franchise.
-4 Player Multiplayer Coop has been introduced, and makes playing with friends fun as hell. Playing with a buddy was fun as hell, since we both acted like Negan from TWD and would straight up go beast mode on any survivors that were a threat to us. It does feel easier to navigate the world with a friend, despite an ~400 yd tether to the host player, which didn't seem like an issue to myself.
-Graphics & sound design are improved, but nothing memorable.
-Combat (especially gun-play) feels smoother and more satisfying with every kill.

    Cons:
-BUGS! In my copy I didn't have stutters or crashes, but I did notice more bugs when playing online. For example, when I went to turn on my flashlight my character model would somehow be blocking my view but when I played solo this issue never occurred. Also I had bugs where door textures would be open, yet there was a closed invisible door I had to freaking open which has gotten quite annoying. I am not surprised this came out buggy since SoD:YOSE still has bugs with shadow effects they didn't bother to fix.
-Lack of story: while the first game had a small sense of a storytelling, this game doesn't feel up to par in storytelling as the first one. After I completed the tutorial I instantly forgot about the story-line of helping one of my survivors who had the blood plague and looking for other survivors out in the world. Story wasn't the strong suite in the first game, so I didn't bother following up in the sequel.
-Online play rewards feel cheap: As I stated playing with a buddy is fun as hell, but I feel like they should've added a radio for transport if you scavenged materials or fuel and you wanted to take it back to your base instead of your friends.

    Improvement Ideas:
-Add great multiplayer benefits, such as loads of ammo and medicine, rather than just Influence.
-Create an online trading market between player communities for supplies.
    -Fix bugs (duh).

Overall I believe, in this title, the game-play design of how to survive was able to triumph over the occasional bugs & glitches. This game improves upon the first one, but bugs and glitches hurt the game for new players and can distance them from playing. Sure if this was a $60 title I would be docking it down points since there are other titles that can give out the bang for a buck (God of War on the PS4, Zelda BOTW on the Nintendo Switch,*Insert X1 Exclusive here*), however this was an indie developer with the backing of a publisher to help broaden their vision of defining zombie-survival. For $30 I think it is a great deal for the value you get here, since they're gonna have updates to improve the game from here on. This title does take steps in the right direction, but hasn't reached its full potential.

*Edit: After playing for an extended period of time, I have unfortunately lowered my score due to technical issues that began to come more consistently, as well as the lack of rewards for beating the Legacy story-line.

    6.5/10 for newcomers
    7/10 for the hardcore fans

The in game character dialogue is absolutely THE worst I have heard in a game since I can remember. You can hear a ton of weird crackling pops and whoever has plugged the audio into the game should be shot, its not hard to know how long a pause at the end of a sentence should be. Id go out here and say it reminds me of the dialogue in Resident evil 1. Hell even the dialogue in some PS3 games was better than this.

The graphics are seriously behind what is expected from a big title nowadays and the map isn't that big. Theres not a lot more to say about that apart from the 'lol enhcnced for xb1x' - you could run this on a PS3 fine if it wasn't optimised by chimps.

This title disappointed me more than Destiny 2, and that alone deserves its own award. I am sick of buying poor but reasonably well marketed titles. And the fact this game took 5 years to make is just embarrassing.

I learned all of this in 30 minutes. I'm never going back.

This game is buggier than a new Bethesda game.

One of my biggest issues is all the invisible walls. It's an open world, so there's literally no rational reason there would be invisible walls all over the place, but there are. It's not like it's empty unreachable areas the walls are keeping you out of either. There are often zombies or supplies on the other side of those walls. You can often find ways around the invisible wall if you go (very) out of your way to do so. Last time I played I crashed my car into an invisible wall. The car got stuck in the wall and I couldn't get it out. I had TONS of resources in that car and I couldn't even access the back to get them out because the back clipped into the ground.

Almost every single part of this game is worse than SoD1. The co-op was why I was excited for this. It really failed to deliver. To be blunt, I'm getting real tired of Microsofts crap. The only "decent" games they've put out are Halo 5 and Gears 4. Neither were particularly "good" but I liked them well enough. After this long line of half hearted or outright cancelled games, my friends and I may be moving back to Playstation 4 as our primary console of play. The state of games on Xbox is just sad right now.

    Bugs. Bugs. Bugs.

Once you load into a game, anything that changes(outposts founded, anything is built, doors that were open before you logged in) will not appear. I played the game for 3 hours before I even knew what the medical center looked like because instead of building it for me, the game preferred to just allow the NPCs to float in the air.

I could not assist any new players because as a visitor in their community I do not have access to a bulk of the menus. It also was not made clear that the store lockers are assigned to the players, not the community. This means that I can hop into others world and essentially steal their loot for my own community, telling them I found scraps instead of being honest about a decent weapon or backpack that I may of actually uncovered.

This game, even with the current bugs is really fun. However as I've continued to play the game and saw no changes to these bugs to the point that I know what causes them and how to remedy them, it's hard to believe this game was released without knowledge that they are in the game. Releasing a product and charging for the product, knowing the product isn't finished or polished beyond a rare occurrence, cannot/should not receive a score greater than 5.

But bugs about and illogical thought put into the mechanics make this game a fuster cluck from the second you leave the tutorial. Weapons are far too brittle and there is no clear way of repairing them (even though there is a facility for that, it does nothing atm.) Broken and damaged weapons state in their state indefinitely. The trend of being unable to stop, dodge, or attack and oncoming zombie yet lingers. And if the weapon brittleness isn't enough to frustrate, LACK OF SPACE MANAGEMENT!!!! When in a storage garage set as a sleeping area, it has enough room to fille it with enough for a true barracks. Six at least some areas are Ten, and yet the designers felt the need to fill this areas with only THREE fracking beds and an underwhelming amount of available Outpost slots. Further more, you have facilities that can stock you with food, gas, and meds, but none for ammunition or materials. OH the imbalance! And even these facilities are lackluster and nearly worthless. Overhaul is needed desperately in this game. State of Decay 2 is fun for the first 30 minutes of game play until all of your efforts to supply your people with insufficient amounts of resources, dealing with an infuriating amount of Mission and needy quests (that prevent significant progress), Randomly Spawning Zombies, and a staggering number of bugs ruins the game for you. Let's just hope that the creators do some SERIOUS work in the first update... and all the ones after that too. Expand

Innovations in State of Decay 2 don´t solve any problems, but rather add some more. The game unnecessarily forces on its multiplayer and feels very impersonal. [Issue#287]

State of Decay 2 is going to be very hit and miss for a number of people. If you can ignore the flaws, there is a fun game to be had when played with a friend. That said, even if you ignore its flaws, you can’t deny that this game was not ready for release.

Generally State of Decay 2 looks more like a remaster of the original game than a true sequel. It just does not expand the formula enough and still contains too many repetitive activities that make you go through the motions for the sake of getting it done. That’s why I recommend playing it in short sessions. I have no doubt that people unfamiliar with the first State of Decay will enjoy the second one much more, as everything will be new to them.
