If you love space and long to explore the cosmos from the comfort of your living room, Starpoint Gemini 2 is a gaming experience like no other.

A significant frame drop issue, flat storyline, and obsolete menus cause vexation, but only because they devalue what is an otherwise splendid adventure.

Starpoint Gemini 2 works really well on Xbox One, and proves it's a fun game, well-balanced and engaging. Still, its story isn't particularly appealing and its gameplay doesn't reach its full potential, leaving room for some improvements.

Starpoint Gemini 2 on Xbox One is not a flawless porting but manages to maintain all its core. It's an uncommon kind of game on console, and thus it's somehow precious, but requires commitment to be satisfactory.

If you’re looking for a deep space opera to release your inner Captain Kirk than Starpoint Gemini 2 is worth the price of admission.

A correct game that, without excel in any aspect, can provide many hours of fun to fans of space simulators and sci-fi if they are seeking an adventure without complications.

Starpoint Gemini 2 is difficult to get into, and I wish the narrative had been more interesting as well. However, the ability to play the game several different ways while reaching out and exploring a beautiful, expansive space helps to make the investment of time worth it. It is great to see a game like this coming to console, as the genre is far better represented on PC.

A very ambitious space simulator, with lots of contents to discover and unlock. Too bad for its messy menus and poor design choices, hurting its managerial aspects and leaving the very straightforward combat sections as the best part of the game.

Starpoint Gemini is not a bad game. It’s not even really an average game, so long as you’re part of the small group that will get the most of it. But it is difficult to enjoy, difficult to learn; in short, it’s a niche title and there are glitches and boredom aplenty. This isn’t a great title by any metric except maybe the most important one: those that love it will be utterly engrossed.

Get beyond the complicated controls and mechanics, and Starpoint Gemini 2 turns out to be a mostly enjoyable voyage across the far reaches of space. The price tag is a little steep given the dated style and presentation of the game, but there's no shortage of content if you're in the market for a steadily-paced and involving space sim.

If you can look past the issues that we've raised in the review, can get past the somewhat steep £28 asking price and like space exploration, Starpoint Gemini 2 might be right up your space lane. It probably isn't going to drag many non-fans in, though.

It’s simple to just say that Starpoint Gemini 2 isn’t for everyone, but there are fundamental issues that really make this game utterly impenetrable. The presentation is generally of a good standard, and though the performance falters at inconvenient moments, it’s how the game deals with teaching players how things work that’s most disappointing. We’ve seen space simulations that work on consoles, but this particular trade isn’t worth what they’re offering.

Since I own Xbox One, I picked it there too, to show support to the team. Now, as I started playing it, I am amazed how much work they have put into this port. Completely new and more intuitive interface, perfectly tailored to suit the Xbox One controller, I just can't stop playing this game again. From the start.

For those who don't know what the game is about, please, just google it, it's been out on the market for more than a year and there are many gameplay and review videos that will give you all the info you need to decide whether you want this or not. For me, it's a bargain and my way to show support for a small indie team (10 people I think) who made this fantastic and complex open space game.
