    This was an immense *immense* disappointment. Truly staggering how short they fell in my expectations.

    My expectation was nothing more than a modern graphical overhaul of the previous Battlefront titles. Anything more would have been a bonus.     The premise of the game is great. The execution, failure. There is a reason FPS games do not excel for casual gamers on consoles -- the learning curve for aiming at an opponent. There is a lack of precision which can be overcome by practice. If there were an effective offline mode for this game, then that might make this game better.     Awful, just awful. Graphics don't make a game great. Why does everyone love Kotor? Not because of the graphics, tough those are good for that time. No, because of the story and great RPG style gameplay. Everything of this missing in Battlefront!

And I'm serious too. The only thing better is the obvious ones, sound and graphics, but it literally doesn't even go deeper than that. Disgusted that there's "training" for Tie Fighter combat and Speeder combat, but then no actual missions where you do those things. Every "mission" is exactly the same with slightly different graphics. It's just the same boring Unreal Tournament stuffA complete waste of money! I was bored by the second time I played.     Horribly, horribly shallow game-play. Mobility is cumbersome, maps are small, and crammed together. It seems like promotion won over development in terms of money spent, and what another con on gamers. It seems well-made star wars games are more rare than jedi.

    There is a huge lack of content, and the game play just isn't that fun. Lots of people are saying that it's just a Battlefield re-skin, but sadly the game would be better if it was. It feels as if it wants to be both Battlefield and Battlefront, and because of that it fails at being either.

    This game is horrible. The reason why i am giving it such a slow score, is because 5.1 is too damn high for a game that bad. Dice is behind this. They have had this **** module for years and you guys keep on blaming EA. Battlefield 3 was a game that was supposed to remind people if DICE`s previous reputation. It succeded and now they are just spewing out **** games.

    There are not even space battles, or singleplayer (A very weak survival mode, where the aim should be the every single round is much more and more difficult, here from round 7 almost every single round is the same is not singleplayer. And also be honest to yourself: How hard would it be for DICE, to make a Battlefront like single player mode, where you would be able to fight against the computer on the planets chronologically according to the movies, with cutscenes from the movies.), no classes, (why would we work on another classes, they will buy it anyway.), infinite ammo and gernades? What??

    This brings me to the gameplay. I was utterly shocked by it. I won't even speak by the horrible spawning system. So the game is battlefront. They advertise the whole game as a chance to be a part of the star wars universe, and to live the battles. Well, maybe I was wrong, but I never seen for example floating blue PICKUPS in the movies. You want a rocket launcher because we were too lazy to create a demolition class? Go and get a PICKUP. You want to enter a vehicle for a limited time in a battlefront game ? (Even to write this question down was painful to write down) Go and get a PICKUP. Thanks DICE. So.....realistic, like in the movies. I just imagined Admiral Ackbar: "Soldiers. This is a very important battle. We won't provide you weapons or vehicles. There are magical pickups on the battlefield. Just take them, and you will get a vehicle or new weapons for a several ammount of time. Seriously as a Star wars Fan I want to cry.

    Just for the comparision imagine the good old Battlefield 2 and this at the battle of Hoth. In Battlefield 2 troopers were running to the field, while the pilots entered their speeders to battle against the walkers. just like in the movies, you were able to jump in a speeder, and while your buddy was piloting, you needed to aim with the cable launcher.
    Here: Go and shoot. Get a pickup if you are lucky, because the other players want it too.
    Disgusting.

    Okay. But maybe I was wrong. There are still aerial battles. This can turn good. A good old fashioned fight with my favourite x-wing. Then I was utterly shocked that DICE was able to ruin this too. First of all, according to the star wars lore, for example x wings had shields, TIE fighters not, but they were much faster. Here, you can switch on your shield for a few seconds, then you have to wait for a countdown. What??? Also Tie fighters can be fast yeah, if you activate a boost as a SKILL. After that wait for the countdown....
    Also it is like Titenfall in the air. 70% of the enemy vehicles are bots. Why??
    I am not a game developer. But maybe yeah, it is because of the balance (while I am completely sure, that because of the balance the basic theme - x wings - slow with shields, tie fighters - fast with no shields would be enough.) Okay. But making evasive manouvers as a skill, and you need to wait to make evasive manouvers again is totally ridiculous. And again the pick ups. You are fighting with the millenium falcon for five minutes now. Here is it. You can change history. You can kill Han Solo! He needs only a few laser hits, and no more millenium falcon. Then your opponet flies into a big blue pickup, and his ship is suddenly repaired. sigh........ so real. Like in the movies yeah?
    Admiral Ackbar: Pilots! This is a very important battle! But be reminded, you can't make evasive manouvers you have to wait for a countdown, so please die. Also if you are in trouble, just go and get a blue floating pick up. It will magically repair your ship.

    This game is a scam for the star wars fans around the world. Don't buy it, especially if you loved the old SW: Battlefront games. November was too good with many other game tittles, don't waste your money on this. Graphics are fine yeah (This is why I give a 1), everything else feels like a cheap free to play shooter with a star wars theme.    … Expand

    This is future that mobile games have brought us. Appealing to a large audience brings with it terrible gameplay- made to appeal to casual gamers and kids. This game is fun for exactly 2 hours. The price is borderline robbery for what you get.

    Graphics are amazing. I can't say I'm bored of the game yet because I can't actually play it enough as the servers are down more than 50% of the time I try to log in. Although not a bug per se this game is essentially unplayable.

    The gameplay doesn't feel even remotely like star wars. If they wanted to create a futuristic shooter with lasers, they didn't need the starwars IP to do it.

    I was bored most of the time playing it. enemies take so many shots to kill. They should take one shot.

    The ship combat is boring and controls like **** Like somebody slapped wings on the brave little toaster.

I mean the game-play is fun for each time you try 1 of the 4 main maps but after you're bored with this there isn't anything to do. The single-player consists of a wave based shooter which isn't a game-mode at all.

    Your $60 investment only gets you only a small portion of what they put into this title. EA expects you to pay an additional $50 for the rest of it. And since it is multiplayer only, you are asked to pay $110 for what is only half a game to begin with. "Multiplayer only" is just EA's "always-on DRM" by another name.

    I mean as a 5$ GC demo it may work, but 70$ for that?

The lines on the tie fighter were clipping bad. There were places on the maps that looked like they were glitching out. I might be able to look past that if this wasn't the main selling point for most was the graphics. Now game play. I get into a squadron game and die each spawn as soon as I reach the main group. Never a lock warning until the damn missile hit me. There was no balance. Take into account the game is basically a Re-shell of Battlefield 3 with no single player. While they have something that is supposed to single player it is poor excuse. So the main reason I bought this game isn't fun. I swear they changed something in the graphics because it looks like **** compared to what I saw in the trial. Almost like a bait an switch tactic. Don't waste your money on this game. The 4 DLC packs that aren't included but cost almost as much as the game? So they shipped half a game.… Expand

    Two generations after the launch of the most impressive Starwars video game title. It was a lackluster experience. It does not rely on vehicular combat at all. Plus vehicles are random and thus team strategy. Even with friends is null and void from this. There is little to no option for loadout customization and the default blaster is pretty much the best weapon I thought. I was bored of the game after about a total of 13 hours. For a multiplayer only game. This was not good. Now I have to say that if you drop the $120.00 and get the DLC later down the road that maybe this game will provide enough content to stay fun and diverse for a bit longer. But that's too much money for one game. In my personal opinion. I honestly believe the servers will be dead in 4 months or so.

    Pros:
    > Excellent graphics.
    > Unique sound design.

    Cons:
    > Extremely repetitive game modes.
    > Imbalanced gameplay based on game mode.
    > Item drops/Vehicle switching/Special characters are completely random.
    > Lagging servers.
    > No Galactic Conquest.
    > No loadouts.
    > Horrible flying controls.
    > No space battles.
    > No prequel era.
    > Unnecessary token system for appealing to the casual masses.
    > Deluxe Edition.
    > AT-AT on rails.
    > No campaign.
    > No destructible environments.
    > Maximum PVP count is only 40.
    > Lack of player choice, preventing cohesive team strategies.
    > Meager launch content.
    > Will feel generic and boring after a few weeks.
    > Doesn't feel like a true Star Wars: Battlefront game.
    > Most likely will have dozens of planned overpriced DLC.
    > Published by EA.

    It's games like this that make me worry about the direction of Star Wars. Disney is planning a movie every year, but with the rejection of the EU the Star Wars universe is empty and they seem to be going for a flashy cash grab. The brand is strong enough to hold up for a while but they're killing the golden goose here.

    Very repetitive game, I was bored within half an hour but I tried to give it a chance and played for about 8 hours without having any fun. They seem to have literally picked the worst mechanics they could find, slapped on a couple Star Wars skins and made one map which switches from snow to rocks and called it a day. Most disappointing game of the year for sure, quite possibly of my life.

A straight 0, because asking for 60 bucks for 25% of a game is an insult and asking another 50 for another 25% is mocking gamers. Goodbye EA , this one hit the nail in the coffin.

    No AI - really was the biggest failure of this game. EA's ego is that great they decided to remove bots and turn battlefront into another run of the mill competitive shooter. Bot support was the CORNERSTONE which made the original titles great. If you didn't play online, you could just create a game with bots and have a blast.

    Audio - The sounds of the blasters and vehicles may be good but there's one thing I can’t stand. And that’s the 'Murica' dialogue EA infuses into every shooter it makes. They really do like to glorify war and SWBF is no different. You can't go 2 seconds without hearing someone shouting 'IM PINNED DOWN OVER HERE!' or 'MAN DOWN!'/'SUPPRESSING FIRE!’ It’s all just too serious and doesn't fit in with the star wars universe.

    Vehicles - You can no longer just hope into a vehicle, they are power ups. Mind boggling how this ever made it past the drawing board.

    Heroes - Not as many heroes as its predecessors.

    No prequel content - Even if you hated the prequels you can't argue they gave us more vehicles/soldiers/planets to play with. EA cutting them from this game (probably to release as DLC) was woefully wrong to do so.

    I could go on past the 5000 character max with everything that is wrong with this game. But I'm sure you've all been saturated with the pretty visuals / expensive DLC etc people have been noting about. At the end of the day, Battlefront I & II which came out over a decade ago are still more enjoyable than this piece of crap. I've said it before and ill say it again, EA obtaining the IP to SWBF was THE worst thing that could have happened to this series. No more than ever I really do feel for the free radical staff that had their product cancelled during development. It would have been far superior to this.    … Expand

    -Already finished at launch with a $5 price tag

    -Pointless ship battles that entirely involve you flying in circles until you drop dead

    -Nowhere close to finished and still with a $60 price tag

    It's obviously just some cheap, overpriced merchandise to get people excited about the new movie. I will say one thing though, this is the first FPS game Disney has ever made, and they did put some serious work into the graphics. But that is no excuse for them destroying a good series. They had something functional on the table, but instead of working on it, they mutilated and rebooted it into some mess that had potential, but it was too close to the originals so they shot it till it broke and tried remaking it in their spare time without the instructions. But all that came out was a polished vase that had nothing of use on the inside. They then decided to put in some worthless "free content" while the paying content stood ready to ripoff. All in all, don't wast your time or money on this trash, especially if you loved the originals. I got this game for christmas for my pc, but it didn't work because my pc was powerful enough. However, many months later, I got to play it with my second cousin on his xbox. The first 5 minutes were fun, and then it crapped everywhere. No clonewars, no canpaign, noCrushed my dreams. I loved the old battlefront games, battlefront 2 was actually my first game I ever played in my life. I got this game for christmas for my pc, but it didn't work because my pc was powerful enough.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very pretty, but a failure in the fundamentals of FPS games.

    Firstly, the loading screens. I spent as much time in loading screens as I did in actual gameplay. - Fail

    Next, spawning. In the larger games you either spawn way too far from the action, run for over a minute to get there only to be taken out instantly. Other times you spawn too close to the action or right in an enemy's sight, instantly being killed. And this can happen 5 or 6 time in a row. - Extremely frustrating.

    Balance: The rebels have no ground vehicles. This gives a major advantage to the imperials as they have the AT-ST. Luke Skywalker is way too fast and impossible to hit and Bossk had infrared which allows him to see any enemy from anywhere. OP heroes.

    Radar is pointless. The range is very obscure and enemies right next to you do not show up.

    Terrain....So I'm running, and running, and running, and running some more. Suddenly I'm just running in place. What's that? a small stick on the ground. Oh look! I'm dead.

    No singleplayer mode. This makes the game pointless for anyone with poor internet. and Frustrating for anyone who might want a break from such competitive multiplayer.

    Terrible matchmaking. Often skill levels are either way in your teams favour or way in the other team's.

    I will give credit to the graphics. They are absolutely beautiful. But that's about the only positive thing I can say about this game.    … Expand

    Bought this two years after launch for $30, still don't feel like it was worth it. The DLC exclusive maps have very little population and DLC exclusive weapons are by far and away completely overpowered compared to base game weapons. Its almost like people who paid more were given every advantage possible.

    The issue is that this game plays it safe and doesn't offer anything new in its core shooting gameplay. It ignores progress made in the genre and that's most upsetting. Casual players will have a blast but it really isn't for the rest of us in my opinion.

    Multiplayer shooter designed primarily for Star Wars fans. Simpler than its genre competitors it is, but it’s open to players of all kinds - at the same time it is not for everyone because of that “anyone can play” approach. [Issue #259]

    As close as you'll get to getting your childhood back. Dig through the incredible production values and you'll find a serviceable shooter, but one with a potentially terminal lack of content. [Jan 2016, p.73]
