    The lootboxes are being fixed.

Its a perfect SW game that understands the most important thing about SW : lore.
The maps are source-book perfect (with minor alterations for gameplay)
    The balsters feel great

the only issue is cross-era gameplay

What many dont understand is that :
Chars are FREE you cant buy them.
    No season pass.

It's Starwars enough said, oh and those lootboxes well you don't have to use them. The first game was limited to online only, but Battlefront2 has a campaign that you can play offline. With lots of characters to unlock and maps to explore, Starwars Battlefront 2 is huge fun for anybody especially if they're a Starwars fan.

Once all the pay-to-win things were taken out, this game became amazing. The graphics are stunning, the campaign, while sort, is fun, and the multiplayer is great. The progression system lacks a bit, but it is much better than the 2015 battlefront.

Solo story is fun but very short it's all about the online game. Unlike every other online shooter there is no hiding in a house for 15minutes before you do anything, there is no hoping you find a decent gun, there is no worry of running out of ammo, it's just more full on then any other game. Nearly all the problems that came with launch are gone, loot boxes are gone and replaced with a progression system and this all takes place in beautiful enviroments that are all easily recognisable from the films, best lightsabre fights you will find anywhere when two good players face off. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When the game was launched in 2017, it was an empty shell of blatant and obvious money grabs by EA and DICE to use the Star Wars name to get a quick buck. But, after nearly two years of updates and listening to its players, this game has become the best Star Wars game on the market at the moment. It provides a massive online multiplayer experience that has had its progression system completely redone to that it is not pay to win, but rather play to win. Also it has an offline campaign that’s is cool too so. Expand

It is so fun now and I have put well over a 100 hours in this game. Galactic Assault, conquest and heroes vs villains are the best game modes in the game and its what I put my hours into. As a massive fan of Star Wars, this is a dream come true. You can play all your favorite characters in star wars and use the variety of different blasters and vehicles to defeat your opponents. Boba Fett is my favorite villain just because of the fact that it pisses so many people off. The amount of salt they accumulate in the messages they send to me is so funny and I would definitely recommend a try of Boba Fett. My favorite class is assault along with the specialist at times depending on the map (hoth and crait are the perfect maps to snipe people) which are just so fun to play. Right now in 2021 we can say that it is the best Star Wars game. Its multiplayer is fun and it always makes us with my friends cheer as we were 10 year olds back in the days. You can level up and learn the basics in this mode really well - it’s still multiplayer but only 4vs4 with the rest c- the rest of the teams are made up of AI bots so you can actually rack up kills and level up too. This game takes some learning but there areas many good you tube tip videos - definitely recommend watching some of those. Highly recommend this gorgeous looking star wars game - so much fun. Expand

The multiplayer is ok. Similar to Battlefront one but they've added classes and removed the bonus pick-ups (you know use your score to choose pick-ups). The modes are pretty much as you expect, conquest type, rush type, team death match and spaceship battles..

All in all it's a fun game, especially if you can pick it up on sale.

The game launched with micro-transactions, pay-walls, bugs, and a general disregard for the player, focusing instead on maximizing profits. At launch this game represented the height of industry greed, which is clearly reflected in the user reviews. Now, in 2020, the game has become the example, which all other developers should follow, of how to make things right with the gaming customer. The micro-transaction/ Loot box system is gone from the game in any meaningful way. It used to be that you were required to farm loot boxes to unlock ability cards to make your characters competitive in multiplayer but now all ability cards are unlocked simply by progression with a healthy, not too lengthy, grind to level up each class and hero. It feels like after a short investment of time you can compete with any class/hero/vehicle simply by playing the game rather than by investing real money to buy loot boxes that could potentially give you a chance to earn the cards you wanted to play with. Real money purchases now are only really used to help buy certain skins for troopers and heroes, but keep in mind that these skins can be earned without any purchase simply by achieving in-game milestones to earn credits. The game itself is a large scale battle to capture various objectives or prevent the opposing team from doing so. 2 teams of up to 20 people fight it out using a selection of customizable standard troopers and earn battle points for kills, assists, buffs, and objective play. Once you earn enough battle points, you can cash them in to upgrade yourself to a more capable 'reinforcement' trooper or play as one of the iconic Star Wars heroes. Combat is usually played out in a third person perspective, or optionally a first person view, and feels tight and precise, for the most part. There are large scale battle modes, as mentioned, small player vs. player battle modes, star fighter play modes and hero battle modes. Each of the modes has a different feel, with the main modes feeling close to the Battlefield franchise, the star fighter modes feeling like an excellent space fighter simulation and the heroes vs villains mode feeling like a hectic game of Super Smash Bros. There are other less popular modes including excellent co-op scenarios, a hero showdown/duel mode which has a competitive fighting game vibe, and some fun distraction modes for variety; all of which have different feels and allow the player of ton of variety all within the same game. Visually, the game is absolutely beautiful, start this up on your system and I promise you that you'll be impressed with everything you see. One of the best things that has come out of the public shaming at launch, is a clear desire, from the developers, to make things right. The game has received multiple content updates since launch and has clear game plan for more content through 2020, meaning that there will be new features and gameplay to keep players excited for some time. The best part of he content updates is that everything is free, and many of these new maps, troopers and heroes would have taken substantial resources to create; I'm honestly shocked that they are releasing new content, for free, this far after launch. My gripes with the game are few; there are a few occasionally buggy moments that can bring minor frustrations, some balance issues in the Heroes vs Villains mode, including some pretty nasty stun-locking that can leave you feeling a little demoralized but mainly problems just arise from poor team play and bad tactics. I have confidence that the active development team are still working away to remedy any issues with the game and make an enjoyable experience for the community.

In Summary: disregard all the launch reviews. This game has grown to become one of the best multiplayer shooter experiences available today. There has been a ton of post-launch content with lots more still to come by an active development team. There is so much to do in-game that you can expect hours and hours of enjoyment from very little financial investment. Now that the game is 2 years old, the price has dropped significantly and provides incredible value. Get it.

While I understand that maybe not everyone will come back to this game after everything EA and DICE has done, DICE has helped made the game improved more and it’s so much fun to play so definitely anyone who hasn’t bought the game or hasn’t touched it, pls do give it a try and see how you feel about it now.

At launch, this game was nothing more than disappointing and even more pay to win than the first game.
I think it took somewhere near 4500 hours of grinding or 2100$ to unlock everything in the game.Thankfully, EA removed it and now you get every Hero when playing the game.
The progression system with that was awful, EA removed it. EA even managed to not reward players when buying loot boxes because everything you were getting was crap.Even the editions were pay to win. Thankfully EA removed everything and redeemed themselves after many updates.
The Campaign is not great because after the second mission your character realizes that the Empire is evil and becomes Leia Organas Personal Bodyguard. So basically, they lied to us in the trailers because only the gameplay from the perspective of the Empire was shown.
The Gameplay is better than in Battlefront 1 and every mode is fun with friends.
The Graphics set an impressive standard for Battlefront lll and are really good for a 2017 game.
This Game is 20 Bucks now and It is worth it.

Pretty good campaign, although predictable and tiresome and pretty cringe at times. Really good multiplayer though, with lovely graphics and sound. But it is a bit too difficult and competitive online. So, as a casual player, prepare to get frustrated. But that seems the norm for online games today.

Giving this game a ZERO because of the lootboxes is some serious BS revenge-review crap.

If you don't like the lootboxes, don't buy them. You can play the game without in-game purchases and still have fun. Yes, it's a lame feature, and much of the reason I'm giving it 7 stars instead of 8. The game itself is very well done. The Starfighter PVP is fantastic (and the reason I play).

-The lootcrate system is bad, simply put. Though if they hadn't withdrawn the paid-for currency, it wouldn't have been pay-2-win. Rather, the problem is that it makes the progression system somewhat "grindy". You don't level up for time played - you level up for how lucky you were with the crates.

-The gameplay itself is solid. All of the gunplay and movement feels solid and the modes and maps are very well designed. Combat occurs where you feel like it "should" occur, and the MP is packed with plenty of intensity. You really get the feeling of being in the middle of a Star Wars battle scene.

-The campaign is decent. It tells a somewhat vanilla story - a bit predictable, like every other Star Wars movie ever - but it's clearly a "Star Wars Story". I felt like the protagonist of a Star Wars film. Replayability is a bit debatable, but it's worth the time for at least one playthrough.

-In terms or graphics, the game is beautiful. It brings the Star Wars universe to life in all it's detail and wonder. It's a real kick to be running around the MP maps, and see all the little details of the movies. Even Hoth... a map that typically ends up being bland due to everything being covered in snow/ice... looks beautiful thanks to the subtle details and shading. However, there is some stuttering in some of the "ambient" animations (why is that turbolaser skipping frames like a 90s sidescroller?).

All in all, it's a solid game that improves vastly upon it's predecessor. With the promise of free DLC in the future, I'm confident about my purchase.

Due to the Micro suspensions I have decided to purchase the game, if the Evil Micro’s are reinserted In a way that resembles EA’s previous attempts to ABUSE customers I will promptly boycott the game. Until then the game as it stands after launch day is indeed a great game. Campaign is a lil short and could be better, feels like it’s purpose is to condition people for the MP but is sertainly worth your time and is entertaining, very very well Acted by the beautiful leading lady. The campaign should be experienced by every gaming StarWars fan. THE MP is really well implemented in general and actually feels pretty well balanced , map design and variety keep things feeling fresh as does the variety of game modes. Graphics are stunning, espically on the XBox one X on a good 4K HDR tv.
Sound design is almost perfect, the feel and sound of firing your laser blaster is especially satisfying.

I suggest people who are interested in the game to buy it and rrenjoy it , if the Greedy Micro’s come back in an unfair way , then at that time we should all fully boycott. The biggest improvements come in the combat side of the game. The combat has a lot more variety this time around and everything just feels more fluid. In fact the gameplay on the whole feels more fluid and responsive throughout and the variation in each mode is fantastic and this definitely keeps you coming back for more time and time again. Playing online is without a doubt the best way to enjoy this game and thankfully everything in multiplayer works and holds up really well. I will say though that the progression when playing online feels extremely limited and you only feel that you really progress if you pay for it. I was also disappointed with how long it takes to unlock the most iconic characters in the game, and the amount of grinding needed can be very frustrating. They have however managed to nail the lore in the game extremely well and the best thing is that the story remains interesting and gripping throughout, which in turn makes a good single player campaign even better. The presentation side of the game is very impressive and I must admit that they’ve done a fantastic job here. Visually the game can look absolutely stunning at times, and the sound design is some of the best I’ve ever heard in a game, which is very impressive. At the end of the day the bad press the game has received recently will without a doubt put a lot of people off, but if you look past this and scratch beneath the surface a little bit you will find a very fun and enjoyable game. Don’t get me wrong the game is far from perfect but they have managed to make significant strides and improvements over the last game. If you’re a fan of Star Wars then you will love this game and when it’s all said and done it gets a lot more right than it gets wrong, so in the end it gets a recommendation from me. Expand

To be honest, the game turned out to be not so bad, and such ratings from users on Metacritic are extremely unfair at the moment, but even calling this game ideal is not even a language.

The company in the game is not required at all and is only needed to get acquainted with the many abilities of the game + a couple of heroes + a couple of space fighters. The story itself is extremely secondary and boring. It was especially humiliating to play as Luke Skywalker, who just cut down bugs, it's ridiculous.

The arcade mode is downright dull, including the scenario, which is just for practice for multiplayer. The multiplayer is a little better, but looking at the general situation with class customization, one thing can be understood - the community lost, although it naively thought that it won. There are very few modes active online, there is an imbalance between the forces of Darkness and Light in favor of Darkness, there are few cards, and there is very little variety and tactics in battles. Microtransactions have not been removed from the game, there are two currencies, and cosmetics are not imported + there are no new updates and game support is at a minimum level.

This is not a loss for EA, it is a loss for the community. Although I played for a couple of weeks, I'm fine. For once. Glory to Ukraine!

Star Wars Battlefront 2, is of course the sequel to the online only star wars battlefront, but this time it adds a campaign, and boy is it disappointing…
Before I start, I’m going to make it clear that I’m not a star wars fan…
I’m reviewing this game as a game.. license unattached…
And if you’re not a star wars fan, this 4 and a half hour long campaign is a gigantic waste of your time.
This is easily the most generic garbage I’ve ever suffered through...
IT plays, is delivered, and feels like a 2010 ps3 game…
The campaign tells the story of Iden Versio mostly... though not primarily…
Infact half of the time not at all…
You get a bit of a perspective of the dark side, as shes the commander of the inferno squad
but the game make a huge mistake of following different paths of multiple heroes... characters you know...
minor spoilers, but youll be light sabering it up which was easily my favorite parts of this campaign…
And these great moments are interrupted with space battles that go on way too long and an uninspired least fun of all time linear 3rd person shooting adventure where you can play around with the idea of cards.. As every hero you play in the campaign has their own special moves on a cool down they can use... but as iden you can swap these cards for different grenade tpyes for example... or perk like health regeneration and shield...
I found the campaign to be a great way to introduce the mechanics of the online and for that reason is worth checking out… but nothing more as it’s just a bunch of shoot everything in your way while you get to a checkpoint, and defending positions while an npc interacts with an item… that’s it..
There are a few okay missions here and there… but none of them are ever fun... at all...
Again if you’re not a star wars fan just use it as a tutorial mode and get out of there...
There’s no fun, no meaningful story... theres nothing here…
Though completing the campaign does reward you with credits and loot boxes to give you a little head start online...
Thankfully the online unlike the campaign is fun and is this games saving grace
Online features 5 different modes, the 2 big ones 40 player classic assault which is objective based of defending and attacking positions or items and there’s the 24 player Starfighter assault, which is a bit like classic but in space…
these 2 game modes aren’t really what I enjoy in competitive modes and had me more frustrated with the pay to win feel of the game where players can all have more powerful cards, and again with 40 players running around you’re going to die pretty quickly in this mode if you’re a newbie..
You’re better off building yourself up in the other 3 modes first and coming back to these 2 later
I was afraid I was going to tear this game apart in my review until I played these much smaller game modes there’s blast with is 20 player call of duty style team death match, 16 player strike which is another objective based game mode,
All 4 of these modes you’ll be getting kills and earning points to bring in support from heroes and star craft to clean house and potentially turn the tables in a losing battle…
and then there’s my personal favorite 8 player heroes vs villains… where there is no saving up points..
Everyone starts as a hero character and it’s a game of attacking targets while defending your team mate…
This mode is a blast to me, and by itself changed my overall opinion of this game..
Everyone feels over powered... it’s just a matter of who can use their powers the best...
The controversy of this game comes mostly in the microtransactions which are currently disabled...
But there is a loot crate system where you can buy crates with credits earned in game from clearing challenges and finishing matches… and in these crates are cards, credits, and crafting materials…
Cards are bonuses you can attach to your characters... and this is what makes the game feel pay to win…
Your characters don’t get stronger by you using them.. They only get stronger by luck of the drawn…
Though you are able to craft cards of your choice with the crafting parts you earn and you can increase the power of these cards with these parts... though these are a bit rare
I don’t find these cards to be as big of an issue in smaller modes oddly because I feel youre given more space to rely on your skill as a player…
But in the larger modes youll definitely notice the buffed up players as their cards flash across your screen while theyre killing you over and over again with their upgraded grenades and turrets…
    its annoying..
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a bit of a let down to me, and im not even a star wars fan…
But there is fun to be had here in its online.. Especially in its smaller modes...
I give Star Wars Battlefront 2
    a 6.5/10

    - Microtransactions discouraged me from multiplayer (pay to win)
    - Several issues with performance on Xbox, losing save spots and loading issues. Ending up just restarting the disc everytime.

I will keep this short and sweet. Yes the loot system is still wonky (the system has been fixed to some degree however), yes the story mode is as generic as it gets, and yes it still feels as arcadey as the last EA iteration.

The game is as faithful an adaption to the star wars legacy as any other and the visual aspects of the game are still top notch. Multiplayer wise, the game is a blast IMO. Now is this a title that is going to hook you? Probably not, however it is a serviceable title with FREE updates that are still going as well as a fun multiplayer component that you can breezily hop in and out of.

That's the real problem though for me, there is no hook here other than the faithfulness to the star wars universe. I had hoped the story mode would be engaging, but it is anything but that offering a bland adventure that finds you hopping from one shooting gallery to the next.

Overall, Battlefront 2 isn't the hit EA was surely hoping for however it is still a fun time with barely enough content to pass the time and enough fixes to not call it a complete and utter failure...

The battle points system sounds good but its only good for the above average players who manage to get enough points and use them properly. If you are bad you will never get one, and if you get you will die fast with if because... well, you are bad...
Also on the first pvp matches you will notice being killed by people with 3 top cards while you have we'll... zero. This system is a disgrace for online gaming, should be like Overwatch were all players can get all heroes and the only diference is the player's ability.
Couldn't pass the second map of the campaign (space fight) because i suck at piloting the ships with a controller to the point i barely kill one or two enemy ships till the time runs off. So i can't talk about the campaign.
Arcade mode is a very good idea, a game with divided screen 2019 is most welcome to play with a friend but there are a few maps and the maps are quite small...

I doubt Dice wanted this crap progression system put into the game, they have made a beautiful and fun game, but EA forced this bull on them, the game doesn't deserve all these zero scores, the progression system does, hopefully they change it

I'm reviewing this in 2021 on the Series X.

Pros - Graphics and Star Wars look and feel is fantastic. I can't emphasize how good the intro sequences are when you are blasting rebels in corridors - it feels like you're exactly in the original trilogy. - The sounds of Star Wars is spot on. Voice acting is very good. - The campaign feels like it's very high quality - Smooth 60 fps

    - The sounds of Star Wars is spot on. Voice acting is very good.
    - The campaign feels like it's very high quality
    - Smooth 60 fps gameplay

    Cons:
    - Shooting is not very accessible on console. The reticle is basically a dot, which unless you are very good at the controller, you will end up missing a lot of shots by a hair, even with "aim assist turned on". Every shooter should use Halo controls with big reticles - I don't know why games like this or GTA5 use the smallest dots for as it's bad for people with poor vision as well.

    - Restarting a level after dying has a 5-second delay in single-player, which got really annoying in some hard sequences in the campaign. It keeps asking you to change your cards and weapon loadouts every **** time.

    - Strafing is extremely slow, even if you're not crouching. I have no idea how to dodge in this game at all. Not a clue.

    - You are often vastly outnumbered in the campaign. In a corridor, this is fine because you can funnel enemies in a choke point, but in a forest it kind of sucks because they just surround you and your AI teammates do nothing to cover you.

    - Levels are not built for exploration honestly. There's a lot of dead-ends that are only there for enemies to come out. This makes levels very linear, but you waste a lot of time checking out these alternative paths and they all lead to nothing but dead-ends. In the more open areas, exploring too far off the beaten path just threatens to kill you in 10 seconds. Wonderful EA. Just Wonderful.

I can't even comment on the microtransactions - I haven't even tried multiplayer - but the single-player campaign feels compromised by the multiplayer aspects of the game.

I agree they are damaging the overall experience of the game, and well just not good implementations. The game doesn't deserve scores of 0, 1, 2, and 3 seen frequently on metacritic. Those are score usually reserved for games that are broken and unplayable. The game is functional and from a technical perspective good. The graphics are decent and framerate feels smooth. The thing is the game just isn't all that fun to me. I've played roughly 12-15 hours now and I just can't play the game more than 60-90 minutes at time, sometimes not even that. I just get bored with it. The only game modes I enjoy are Heroes vs Villians and Star Fighter Assault.

I didn't think Battlefront 1 was great but I had high hopes that Battlefront 2 would build upon it and be a fun multiplayer experience. Needless to say I was disappointed. If I had to do it over again I would have waited for a sale to pickup this game. I'd be satisfied paying $30 max for this game, but not $60. Given how EA responds to criticism and negative reviews I have little hope any improvements will be made to this game.

But the credits payout after each match is a foggier mystery than the Caramilk. There isn't really a correlation between how well you did during a game and how much "credits" you earn. You can be average and earn 300 creds; be awesome and earn 400 (!!!) or just plain su ck but since you gained a level, you get 1800 creds.

The only thing that really bothers me are the atrociously long loading screens. Press the wrong button and you're up for a 2 minutes exit mode screen and another 2 minutes to get back in. Same thing if you're thinking about changing game modes. Even if you're not changing game modes, it takes almost 3 to 4 minutes between the end of a scenario and the beginning of the next.

It totally kills the immersion factor. Maybe it runs faster on an Xbox S or X? Not going to bother buying one to check it out..

I definitely would've hated this game a lot more if I played it when they still had loot boxes. As it stands, Battlefront II is just barely not terrible, and it's clear that there was a lot of effort put in by DICE, and the game could've been great if EA didn't rush the game out.

Let's get this out of the way. I bought this game before I knew about the controversy surrounding it. The game is damn good. I beat the campaign and have sunk over 40 hours into multiplayer. It's good. It's not as imbalanced as people think, but the blatant greed from EA forces me to rate this lower than I want to, and would not have bought it if I had known what they were up to.

It'll will never be like the original Battlefront 2. you can play co-op with a friend but only with split-screen. Yes I said that right, only with split screen. You cannot do online co-op. Excuse me for a second but seriously EA, what were you morons thinking when you stupidly forgot to add that option for the co-op part of the game. Next, it takes FOREVER to get good cards for the characters. Not only that, you have to level up each character to a level in order to add an extra card slot to that character. On top of that you have to collect enough scrap in order to upgrade your cards so that you can level them up. So while all that is going on, you are being killed 1,000,000,000,000,000 more times then the player with the already suped up gear, who probably also has been playing this game longer than you or utilizes their superior money skills to get stronger and better gear than you. So yeah, multiplayer sucks. I can say however that visually it is great, it sounds exactly like a Star Wars game should and although it takes forever to level them up and get all the 'good gear' the amount of classes and characters there are is satisfactory. They did a decent job with the story, I wish it was a little longer and not so repetitive towards the end, but overall I was satisfied with it. Overall, it is an enjoyable game for a short period of time, but I wish I didn't buy the game digitally because I'm almost at the point of never playing it again so it's just going to be collecting a lot of that digital dust. Save your money for whatever other game you were thinking about purchasing. Expand

Has improved, but is still mediocre at best. I don't like how matches feel; the smaller matches like Blast are cool but bare-bones, and the bigger ones like conquest are my least favorite; you run for five minutes to where the battle is and immediately die to a ship or sniper or hero across the map, repeating for 20 mins. The campaign is good though.

Battlefront II is fan service and little else; much respect to the craft, the attention to detail and the wealth of content, but sadly it just isn't enough. It's starting to feel as if Star Wars simply isn't a franchise suitable for this type of sprawling, large-scale multiplayer experience. It doesn't have it in its bones, and if DICE can't find a way to make it work, we're fearful nobody can. [Issue#195, p.72]

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will go down as one of the biggest screw ups in video game history. EA and DICE had the easiest job in the world and completely ruined it with the absolutely ridiculous and downright unacceptable progression system for multiplayer. Combine that with the incredibly boring, lazy, and cliche story campaign and you easily have the biggest disappointment of 2017.
