    Rehydrated chooses to maintain all of the original's flaws, resulting in a very faithful remake that will surely elicit nostalgic memories if you've spent a lot of time with the original Battle for Bikini Bottom, but it will do absolutely nothing for everyone else.

    Battle for Bikini Bottom, despite offering a fair bit of fun, is a testament of antiquated design and, for better or worse, feels entirely like the game you remember from your childhood. There’s certainly a fun afternoon to be had ruining Plankton’s plot to rule Bikini Bottom while spotting the show’s many references with a keen eye, though ultimately Rehydrated is D.O.A.—dry on arrival.

    Rehydrated still feels like the classic version – for better and for worse. The voice actors for SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Mrs. Puff and more help to bring the game to life and, with its wonderful new graphics, Bikini Bottom has never looked better. Due to its issues, though, it isn’t likely to pull in a new wave of players. It barely managed to keep me invested – and I’ve been incredibly excited to get my hands on it. For those who played it as kids, it’s a joy to see it looking so shiny and new, but don’t go in expecting to get too much fun out of it.

    Rehydrated is anything but "Rehydrated." Nostalgic fans may want to check it out and may have a moment or two, but otherwise, most will find that it falls short compared to the giant that is the 2003 version. Fans who want to re-experience the game and can deal with the lackluster graphics may instead want to play the 2003 version. As wild as it sounds, 2003's SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom may just be the superior version.

    SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is a remake of the 2003 3rd Person adventure. A lot of re-releases of game haveSpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is a remake of the 2003 3rd Person adventure. A lot of re-releases of game have come across the Xbox One, some better that others, and most bringing back games we once loved. Sadly a lot 9f them are simply re-skinned ports of the original game. Bakini Bottom is NOT one of those games, as the development team lovingly recreated every aspect of the game here and most all of these changes have been for the better. The character models are super smooth in comparison, and the new models feel more like moving cartoons that the old hard edged models. Though the developers opted out of using the real time shadows for all NPCs, ad replaced them with simple round shadows. The main character has a real time shadow, but this isn't very pretty up close. The rest of the new shadows and lighting for the environment are far nicer tag before. The world boundary was replaced in many places with a less obvious drop that the red dotted line. Rendering distance is greatly increased, and landmarks have been added to the backgrounds. the gameplay hasn't changed much, aside from the cleaner graphics lending to what feels like cleaner control. Overall if you enjouyed the original, or did t get a chance to experience it. Bikini Bottom is back in all of its glory and then some. A Must have for fans!… Full Review »
