Should you drop in on the tower of Spellspire, then you’ll no doubt enjoy what 10tons have created. It’s good fun, it’s hugely addictive and it comes with enough content to have you still playing some months down the line.

Last year one of those Letterquest games came out and it was an absolute joy. I figured this game would be the same but alas, there are some issues.

After you spell words, the letters stay the same. You never get new letters so that by the time you reach the end of a level, you are fretting over trying to make new words. So many times I was killed because I couldn't think of a new word in time. It gets to the point where you hope for a grouping that includes an "E" and an "S". And honestly...if you don't get that, you can just back out and restart the level hoping for a better letter assortment. Thank goodness the load times are super fast.
    .
When in the inventory screen and it shows you your options for cloak, hat, wand, etc...., it doesn't indicate which ones are actually equipped. You have to click on the actual item to confirm it from the pop-up.

By level 30 to 40, you start to encounter enemies that cannot be defeated unless you have huge funds for upgrades, which is impossible even after obtaining max money/rewards, or if you swap out your equipment to match the enemy's weaknesses. The game becomes an exercize in switching between screens and playing with inventory and upgrades...and there is no way to reset your upgrades. You may find that you fully upgraded a piece of equipment and then don't have enough to buy the piece that could actually help you defeat your enemy.
    .
The play formula becomes tiring after 20 to 40 levels. I cannot imaging finishing all 100 levels.
    .
I would suggest only buying this game if its $2 to $4 on sale.
