I'm not going to pretend that Spellspire is a game for everyone: if you're not obsessed with words and spelling, it probably won't speak to you. Luckily, I am obsessed with words and spelling, which means that I've just found my favourite new game.

Overall, Spellspire is a solid time-waster on Vita. If you’re into brain-teasing spelling games you’ll have a fun time, but otherwise some frustrating issues with progression and an overall lack of any particular ‘wow’ factor keep me from recommending it whole-heartedly. At least the small file size means it’s something you can keep on your memory card and dip into every now and again, as that way you might actually end up finishing it one day.

Spellspire, compared to Letter Quest, is of better quality, more dependent on time, deeper upgrades, and doesn't replace the letters you use. It is a lot of fun and worth the price despite not being an original idea. It is a good Vita port and has touch controls. Expand
