Just completed my first playthrough of Ryse in 2016 and I loved it. By no means are the gameplay mechanics masterful, because they are repetitive and QTE focused. The same can be said for the linear levels. Despite its flaws, this is a great game that captures the spirit of Rome and has a great story and great acting.

Fantastic xbone exclusive. Best graphics of current gen. (Playing this in 2017). Awesome, fun batman arkham ripped off combat. Great story for history lovers. Short 6 to 7 hour campaign. Really enjoyable gameplay. Microsoft and crytek delivered a bobby dazzler of a game. Highly recommended.

Makes use of the XBox One's capability and as a game its a fun melee combat game with a fun and engaging campaign. Its not for everyone but is something I am enjoying and really love the Romanesque story telling and the voice acting in the campaign is very well done.

Its not an earth shattering innovative game but it does not get repetitive as for me as other as complaining about.

The idea of "buying gold" to get skills in the campaign strikes me as a bit silly and I don't really care for that. Hopefully that is not available for acquiring the multiplayer skills. I look forward to jumping into the multiplayer but that was not my main motivation for purchasing this game.

My main issues have more to do with the XB One and the time it took to DL the patch and then install the game.

The graphics are great, the story is good enough. I am not sure why everyone is saying the game play is boring and repetitive. I find this no more repetitive than any third-person action game. If you like games like Uncharted, you shouldn't really find this boring.

This game is a great start for the next gen Xbox games. This game has the best looking graphics so far from any next gen game including PS4 titles. The sound is good and the VO is pretty darn good. The story does drag a little but really picks up at the end. The fighting is a little repetitive but it did not bother me that much at all.
But be warned this is about a 6 hour game. So rent don't buy.

I don't understand all the hate that this game is receiving....so I will break down the game into a couple areas that people use to rate games:
Story 8- the story was very well done I won't go into specifics because I don't want to spoil it for anyone however if you find ancient Rome to be a subject of interest this will be an enjoyable part of the game
Combat 8- if you were a fan of

Combat 8- if you were a fan of batman games or any of the assassins creed games you will find similarities in the system I do feel that it is a little more difficult that both those games because you do have to get the timing (you cannot just spam block endlessly) of your blocks down to maximize your combo points which you use to upgrade your character, executions vary depending on your unlocks and the position of the characters ,there could have been a few more variations but this is a minor inconvenience and easily overlooked.
Visuals 10- this game looks amazing!!!! definitely the best game I have seen and I have both the xbone and the ps4 if you are picky about which games you play because you have a fixation for games that have to be amazing visually you will love watching the executions and cinematics in this game even the most seasoned gamer would have to agree on this point never have I seen such fine lighting and particle effects even the hair on NPC characters is true to life amazing attention to detail.
Replay 6- this game is short, a friend and I took turns playing and easily beat it on soldier difficulty in 5 hours watching all the cinematics .you are encouraged to play through again on higher difficulties to max out your character and also if you are an achievement hunter, I have not played the multiplayer yet however as I understand it this is also connected with your offline character so you play the campaign to upgrade then go fight in the arena against waves of enemies .
Bottom line: I gave this game an 8 because I really believe that if you have an xbone you should do yourself a favour and play this game, its short and sweet but well worth it to experience what next gen is capable of...besides you can beat it in no time and still get good trade for it while its still new.

The game play does have a few quirks about it, but once you iron those out (or get used to them) it's a lot of fun. Caring it into the co-op with a friend is even better. Hopefully a sequel or another game follows this in a few years, because I would love to see the improvements.

Remember it was publicly announced that this game was a planned 360 game originally, then they changed it mid-development. So seeing what they can do with the goal in mind of being on the XBOX One to start will be awesome.

The sword play and executions are very cool and keep you entertained through what is mechanically a quite repetitive control set, and the sparse opportunities to take control of your legion whilst again simple are very satisfying.

The game is short, however I think this works in it's favour, if this game were 20 hours long it would become dreadfully stale but for a 6-7 hours rompfest it keeps you thoroughly entertained. I feel the reviews suffer from peoples expectations for ryse son of rome and I like many was expecting something with a bit more depth, however the graphics and obvious attention to detail in creating excellently modeled swordplay have left me with an experience to remember.

I think Ryse is perfect for a launch title, especially a 3rd person action game which is normally on sony consoles. The graphics are amazing and showcase the early stages of what the Xbox One can do. The combat is perfect! Yes, you constantly come up to barbarians over and over again but its still fun to pull off your own combos and executions. There's no magic in the game but why would there be? The focus is perfect! Having Marius go berserk for a few seconds is a cool way too off tough enemies. The boss battles can be a pain because when the boss glows red with a heavy attack, there is no way to block nor dodge it. At least I haven't figured it out yet. I started the game the hard level, which I have found to be extremely challenging! I just think this game should have gotten a hard 8. 90% of the negatives on here are all sony fans mad that this game is not on their console. Because we all know if it was, there would be hell to pay for such poor reviews. I like Ryse especially for a launch title. Its my favorite launch title out of both next gen consoles. Sound-wise is great too, voice acting is very natural, music is epic and appropriately atmospheric. Story is not the greatest I've seen but it's not bad either. It's there to keep you moving forward and give you purpose and it does it's job. Combat system can be a bit repetitive but not more-so than in any other game from this genre and it's very meaty and "powerfull". You can feel the impact and momentum behind your strikes and executions (of which there are LOTS but you need to unlock them as you level up) make you feel like a real badass. Don't make the mistake I made where after leveling up I was only improving my attributes at the beginning only to find out much later on that you can unlock new executions as well:).
The game is quite easy so if you want a challenge go for a higher difficulty straight away. It's also not very long (not too short either mind you just slightly below average I'd say) so upping the difficulty will squeeze some more time out of this title. There is multi-player but it's nothing too memorable. You'll play for a couple of hours (a couple more if you have a good buddy with you) and you'll be done with it. It's certainly not a game that will make you come back and play for hours on end.
You have to consider if paying full price for a game you finish in 8-10 (maybe up to 15 if you find multi-player enjoyable) hours is something you can afford. If yes then you will probably have good time with it (I certainly did), but if not you can easily wait for a bargain later on. I bet in 6 months time this will still look just as good and for half the price this already good game should be even better:)

The Ryse reviews are too harsh in my opinion. The game is a little repetitive and the campaign is short, but there's a pretty solid persistence upgrade system and the combat increases in complexity throughout the game. It is similar to the Batman: Arkham games except for the QTE executions. Many enemies you can just attack with combinations of X and Y, sure, but certain enemies you have to "break" their guard first with Y; certain enemies have heavy or quick attacks and you have to "block" with A; "dodge" heavy attacks and roll with B; X is strike; hold X for heavy strike; hold Y for heavy "break" (necessary against more powerful enemies). Tap LT to throw a pila (ranged attack). RB brings up "focus" mode or something which is like every other game's bullet time. There are large enemies that you must dodge and get behind to attack, then other enemies you must block three times in a row before striking, and the list goes on. Boss fights conclude each main level.

All of this is layered on top of "choosing" which category of your character you want to get points in. There are four different categories, which you select with the d-pad. Choices are Health (the better timed the execution, the more health you regain); XP (better time executions more points for upgrades); Focus and Damage, both of which are pretty much pointless I'll admit. But it's still something else to think about during combat and eventaully you get good at performing one execution to restore health, then quickly swapping to XP for your next execution to go buy some upgrades. The last two are pretty much pointless I'll admit that.

As far as the executions, the sheer variety keeps them interesting, especially since they are often contextual based on the environment (kicking a guy off a ledge, using your shield to push a guy into a spike wall, and so on).

And obviously the best part of the game are the graphics, which are as good or better than anything on the other next-gen title right now. Although this is partially due to the fact that the camera is awfully zoomed in so the console doesn't have to render all that much, it is undeniably a stunning game.

Of course it's far from perfect. It breaks immersion when the game has you do a long execution (say, 2 X's and 2 Y's) while barbarians stand around and watch. There's also a series of testudo sequences where you have to guide your men through hails of arrows while counter throwing pilum which aren't that much fun, though they're obviously in there to break up the rest of the combat. And like all the reviews have said, for the variety of enemies, ways to attack, and executions, it can get repetitive. It is also weird that if you press the wrong button during executions, you still complete the execution but get less points. And the campaign is only 8 missions, which lasts 6-8 hours.

If you bought Xbox One and can get Ryse for less than $50, it's probably worth it. I haven't even tried MP yet but have enjoyed SP a great deal. It isn't a genre defining game or anything, but the visuals are there, gameplay is good, and the story is passable as well given strong voice acting and interesting cutscenes.

The combat relies on parrying your opponents then countering with your sword or shield charging and then finishing your foe with the most amazing executions that never gets boring. During these combos, you switch to what you can gain per execution, whether it be health/damage/focus/XP. Combat never got dull for me because the battles were so epic, the scale was huge and just alot of fun.

For a launch game that can showcase what the Xbox One has to offer, this game blew me away. This is what launch games should be about, and a must recommend if you are a fan of Gladiator or 300 or Greek/Roman history.

What Ryse does bring to the table are some truly stunning visuals, repetitive (albeit satisfying) combat, phenomenal voice and mo-cap acting, and a decent (albeit shallow) story.

It should also be noted that this game is rather short, and in that short amount of time, you will find yourself doing much of the same thing throughout (hack, slash, kill, move on, repeat). While combat is mapped basically to six buttons (sword attack, shield attack, block, dodge, execute and focus), the executions really do shine ad do a good job of breaking up the combat. The game does have over 95 execution animations, but you will end up seeing some of the same handful of them throughout your journey. If you can look past it, then you'll find yourself truly able to enjoy what Ryse is all about. There are also a handful of voice commands you can shout at your kinect at specific times, though you can also hold the LB button to make those work as well. Quite frankly the only thing Ryse does EXTREMELY poorly are the sections of the game that you are forced to use a Scorpio (turret mounted crossbow). Fortunately, you only need to use it a few times, but it is worth noting that they are some of the most boring, awkward, and broken parts of the game.

The story is a mixed bag; while the setting does a good job of spicing up the story, there were times where much of what was happening felt forced and ham-fisted. Though the story does do a good job making you REALLY hate the antagonists, which makes the journey all the sweeter. Thankfully, all parts in this game are admirably acted, and all the actors do a great job pulling you in, even if their source material is a bit lackluster.

The game does have a pretty decent multiplayer arena mode as well, but many will be off put by it's OPTIONAL micro transactions. Again, I say OPTIONAL because you can earn all the game has to offer by actually PLAYING the game this is something we are all going to have to get used to, as almost every game will be adopting this business model. Right now it isn't an issue, but when they become MANDATORY, then we can all grab the pitchforks. As for what you actually pay for/earn is currency used to buy packs of gear ala Mass Effect 3.

At the end of the day, this is probably the most graphically impressive title for the XBox One at the moment. When you want to show a friend what graphical capabilities the system can showcase, this would be the title to do it. This game runs at 900p; quite frankly if it ran at 1080p, you wouldn't know the difference. In fact, the same goes for all XB1 games don't let someone tell you there is a big difference between 720p, 900p, or 1080p because they would not be able to tell the difference themselves. They are just blowing smoke up your butt.

Personally, I really did enjoy my time with Ryse. It was short, but sweet, and if it carried on any longer than it did, it could definitely have left me bored. When I was done with the whole thing, it did leave me with a big smile on my face and it definitely makes me look forward to the next few years with my new console. Isn't that what gaming is all about?

It's very similar to old school games like Final Fight or Streets of Rage. You travel around having group fights with enemies that use set patterns of attack. Plus it's well acted and looks gorgeous.

I don't think it deserves the slew of negative reviews; the game clearly has a vision and executes it well, though I think a few small changes would have made that vision a lot more clear, and possibly more fun for some of the haters. For instance, in Batman games, the action speeds up as a combo continues and you enter flow mode; in Ryse, on the other hand, combos continue at the same somewhat plodding pace, interrupted by even slower execution QTEs. And the plethora of currency systems and scores is impossible to fathom, especially in the middle of combat where you end up having no good visual feedback about how well you're performing even though the information is there, it's in words like "Soldier Execution!" which would have worked better as stars or icons or noises or, well, just about anything. The campaign story is well acted I am amazed at how lifelike the performance capture is and feels like a B-movie ripoff mashup of Gladiator (2000) and Clash Of The Titans (1981) which means that compared to most video game stories it's Moby Dick. It's a good game but like others have said its repetitive. The mechanics of the game and the graphics are quality but you just get bored too quickly. I still say it's worth getting at this early stage of the xbox ones cycle. the critic's score would suggest its a really bad game which it isn't, it just doesn't get anywhere near its potential.

I was forced to upgrade my character and executions to progress through the game. The graphics and sound are exceptional. This game is very graphic with brutal executions which brings up another issue I see in most reviews. There are dozens of executions in this game. How reviewers are stating that the same execution occurs over and over is not true. You unlock more executions as you level up. There are multiple single, double, environment and co-op executions with multiple variations. Yes there same arm is hacked off, but wouldn't you hack off the weapon wielding arm of your opponent?
On-line is a solid gaming experience as well that any skill level gamer can dig into. I almost did not pick up this game due to "Expert" review scores and would have missed out on a great game.

You have a few moves: shield hit, heavy shield hit, sword hit, heavy sword hit, roll, dodge, pillum throw and a sort of very well done voice command to order your solders help you in the battlefield. Those are all moves you'll have for your Roman soldier, but I assure you they're enough to have fun fighting against 5 or 6 enemies at the same time.

Bad things I found were: the game is too short (about 7 hours) and you don't have anything more to do but fighting. It would be nice if Crytek did some puzzles or more interaction with the scenary along the game.

I didn't actually see the ending coming, and anyone who played and was paying attention probably didn't see the ending coming either. I immediately dismiss anyone's review saying it was expected or predictable.

((SPOILER ALERT: It turns out you play the main character caught in a game between two gods which is resulting in the ruin of Rome.))

Based loosely on actual history (characters are real people, but not accurate in region or time), you end by becoming the revenge-bent Damocles taking on the royalty of Rome, whose bad decisions might lead to it's demise. The "quick-time events" aren't as bad as people say, and you actually do have to pay attention to the people attacking you, so it's not quite a button mashing hack/slash as much as it is timing and attention. It can be actually very challenging but yes, agreed it does get a little repetitive in terms of combat.

Multiplayer is pretty fun, but does get old after a few hours of playing. This has been a game I swap between COD (the only other game I have right now) periodically and usually crank through a few levels of multiplayer after having beaten the single player. It starts fairly slow I admit, but once you understand how to level up your player, you'll be hooked for good hour-long matches. If you have a friend to help that's even more fun, otherwise you get paired with someone random, which can be good/bad depending.

I really enjoyed this game as a console-release show-off because they went out of the way to put in the various new tricks: vibes in the triggers, kinect commands (which work well as long as you enunciate) and of course, those pretty amazing graphics.

Overall, I said 8/10. It's not a perfect score for two reasons: gameplay does need a little more variety and multiplayer grind is sorta outrageous (getting to level 100 will take FOREVER).

I imagine this might be a title much like Assassin's Creed, where the first one was visually stunning but the gameplay was just a bit too repetitive. If the make future Ryse games, I hope they really add more to the game in terms of interactions with your surroundings, maybe make the character do more... etc. etc.

Hope this review helps! I think it's worth a play (especially once the returns start coming in and you can get it for cheap).

Ryse is underscored. It's really short, it's true, but on gaming history there have been other titles which were short as well and could be as well pointed as repetitive. Also, after the campaign you can re-make it again in a higher dificulty level or play the arena mode, which has quite load of options (and will have more eventually), and really adds hours to the game itself.

I think it's a good game, almost a must-have except for some things which are really bad (as for example "hidden" things which aren't really "hidded" (you've got to be dumb if you don't find any of them)). But it doesn't deserves the score given by most magazines. I've played more booring games with more scores on them.

And finally, I enjoyed Ryse because of the fact that it was almost entirely focused on single player as it delivered a superb story, and a fun linear campaign. Ever since the success of games like Minecraft, Skyrim, and the recent Grand Theft Auto games, open-world games have almost become the norm, as the gaming industry is being flooded with them, and not all of them are good. Ryse is nothing ground breaking, the graphics are pretty and the voice acting is top notch and the gameplay is rather repetitive as time goes on and the story is actually quite strong, playing on the Roman mythology which is something that you don't see a lot in games.
But the reason for my high score is because it is just so damn fun, like Shadow of Mordor, you can just watch all day as you slice up your foes wave after wave (I'm not a psychopath I swear) the executions may be glorified quick time events but I don't care, it looks cool and it feels cool, I would rather have symbolic involvement in a killing blow than none at all, plus that bit at the end made me giddy as hell.
All in all a fun game that is addictive but don't expect GOTY material.

Very underrated game. Combat is pretty solid and the story is actually quite enganging. Graphics aren't as mindblowing as people say, but they're very good nonetheless. I don't want to call media bias, but if this game gets lower scores than Knack and Order 1886, something is very wrong here.
Not worth full price, but you can get the game very cheap now, and you should!

Graphics are fantastic. The gameplay is as repetitive as most third person games. Nothing special or terrible about the hack and slash aspect of the gameplay. The game may not have been worth $60 when it was a launch title but now it is totally worth it to pay $30 for all the game and all DLC it is a great value.

Ryse: Son of Rome, pertenece a esa categoría.

Ryse: Son of Rome es básicamente un hack and slash.

The graphics aspect in this game is impressive, with highly-detailed character models, environments and some breathtaking cinematics. It’s definitely a showcase of the power of Crytek’s CryEngine.

The gameplay, however, can become repetitive, as it lacks a varied, deep and unique combat system. Even when there’s a certain difference between enemies, these all feel the same and it would be difficult to tell each other apart if it wasn’t because of their different physical appearance. The multiplayer mode can be fun for some, but the gameplay overall is not as great as someone would like.

The story is good, entertaining and very interesting as well. Its character development allows the player to get attached with the characters, understand their motives and feel like wanting to help them reach their goals, even with the story’s short 7-hour duration.

While it does not have the best combat system in a videogame, Ryse: Son of Rome doesn’t stop being interesting and fun to any player that enjoys a game full of violent battles, blood, a great story or simply to anyone wanting to experience the difficult lifestyle of a Roman gladiator.

I did not have the highest hopes for this game going in, considering it didn't have the best review scores and it's developer also made the Crysis series, which I didn't like very much. Surprisingly, I did enjoy it quite a bit!

The story follows Marius, a Roman soldier rising through the ranks over the course of the game and battling against the natives of Britain. It's set up pretty early on that he is also avenging the death of his family, kind of like the Punisher.

The story is excellent! It's not too long and you really root for the deaths of the antagonists by the end. There is kind of an odd spiritual element to it that was a little confusing, but I though that the story was very well done overall.
You wouldn't expect any less from Crytek, but the graphics are fantastic all throughout. There are many epic set piece battles that become pretty memorable, especially the excursion past Hadrian's Wall.

The combat did take a little getting used to at first. It's very similar to the Batman Arkham games with a lot of countering and attacking, but they do have a QT style finisher that is not only satisfying, but it will net you more experience and bonuses based on what mode you have selected (More health, more damage, etc.) There are a few irritating enemies that have to be handled a certain way, like shield breaking or countering at the right time, but I did feel pretty skilled with the system by the end of the first chapter.

If there is one major issue it would be the camera. It is usually right up the characters backside. I felt like a proctologist. Even in combat it was very tough to see all of the enemies that might be rushing at you. I suppose it might be for realism, but it didn't work very well.

Overall, this is a great game-especially for a Game Pass rental. It's quick and entertaining and definitely worth the six hours or so that it takes to beat the story.

I had so much fun with it, the combat is fun, the story isn’t an Oscar winner but it is pretty epic at moments. It feels like a cheesy action movie that knows what it is and embraces it, and I dig that for the same reason I like (weird comparison incoming) fast and furious movies, it’s just good action and fun. The lack of objectivity and reason go out the window with a lot of people that decide to rate games. That being said, Ryse is absolutely an awesome game. It's drop-dead gorgeous, extremely cinematic, and carries an engaging storyline that definitely unfolds nicely as you progress. Combat is a bit rudimentary but it isn't overly boring. Skill progression systems are present but super linear, making you wonder why they put all the effort into developing it if there wasn't any true diversity to the system. Many levels are breathtaking, making me stop at times to just see what an achievement Crytek has on their hands. It's just unfortunate that these levels tend to be overly guided which removes from any adventuring a player might want to experience. The Co-Op is more fun than I anticipated, with a tiered system that will allow you to scale up your "gladiator" as you build up experience, gear, and expertise with the levels themselves. However I'm not certain everyone that tries it out will be in love with it as it feels a bit repetitive at times so the fun could be fairly well sapped with just a few hours of play. That will be up to you to decide should you give Ryse a go. I would easily recommend the game, but I would also say to Crytek and Microsoft Game Studios that they have a real gem on their hands one that would be served better if they had borrowed more from games that obviously inspired the final product here. Fable, Gears of War, Tomb Raider and Mass Effect 3 all show themselves in their own way throughout. If I had to offer just one piece of advice to Crytek, it would be "add depth". Adding depth to the world you play through, adding depth to your character customization and development, adding depth to the characters themselves as the grow. Making a character feel like your own is one thing that keeps games like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars afloat with dedicated fan bases. Ryse is an unfinished game of the year candidate. I for one hope this is the start of a continuing franchise. Expand

Developer Crytek of Crysis fame, the series known in part for it's incredible graphical capability that was said to test even the most elite of gaming rigs, once again show that they know how to make a gorgeous game. Even today Ryse is still one of the best looking games on the system or anywhere else for that matter. When it comes to presentation, they pulled out all of the stops.

When you're not gawking at the scenery you are engaging in bloody hack n' slash combat. Dispatching your foes with the brutal finishing "execution" moves provides visceral thrills. The game provides you with a way to juggle groups of enemies in a way reminiscent of the Batman: Arkham games, only a little more simplistic. Outside of the boss battles and higher difficulties the experience never really evolves much beyond mashing buttons until you can perform an execution. Once you've made it through your first fight you've already seen what you are going to be doing for the rest of the game. New enemy types are introduced every now and then, but there are still only a handful of them and they are basically just versions of the base enemy type that take a bit longer to kill. I do appreciate how some of them require you to use different tactics though, even if it is just to pad the game by prolonging the fights. Not that it's a very big deal in the end though. The game is only a few hours long so you'll likely have it beaten before things get too tedious. The execution system might be simplistic, but it's fun enough to carry you through.

A few other issues are noticeable though. For instance pulling off executions requires you to react to certain onscreen prompts related to buttons on the controller. Yet, even if you mess up the input the execution still plays out the same. You just get a worse performance score for it. Also, once a new enemy type is introduced you'll notice that it is identical in every fight that follows. I don't mean just in terms of how they act, but actually in terms of how they look. The same character model is used for each enemy type throughout the entire game. It's noticeably lazy and serves as the most obvious indicator of the game's biggest flaw; the content, repetition, and lack of variety make Ryse feel more like a downloadable title, as opposed to a triple-A experience.

While Ryse may really just be a glorified tech demo, it's at the very least a fun one. It's worth the afternoon it will take to complete and will make you marvel at just what your gaming console can do. The Roman Call of Duty-esque campaign with all of it's set-pieces and overblown, ultimately uninteresting (but very well acted) story sticks around just long enough to provide some brief, repetitious thrills before being placed back on the shelf. Should you want to get some more life for your dollar out of the game, there's a cooperative arena mode where you can hack n' slash with a buddy. There's a little more depth here as you can customize your gladiator's gear. It's a pretty shallow game, but it's certainly fun while it lasts.

From what I can tell from reviews here there are a lot of Sony or MS fanboys trying to fight their stupid side of the "console war," or PC fans who are unhappy about Crytek's focus on console starting with Crysis 2. This game is no The Last of Us, Bioshock, God of War, etc, but it's also not as bad as many claim either.
Obvious bit first: this game is drop dead gorgeous. I really don't think that can be overstated. The combat is not that deep, which is frustrating because it would have been nice to expand your moveset as the game progressed, but it's not endlessly mashing X to Jason either, at least not if you play on higher than recruit difficulty. The game is short at around 5-6 hours long, it's mostly a hack and slash corridor title, and the story is pretty predictable. That said it's also somewhat of an enjoyable story. Nothing mind blowing and not exactly historically accurate, but a good "dumb action flick" with Centurions, barbarians, and some impressive atmosphere and setpieces. I bought this game with the sole purpose of delighting in the visuals, and was fully expecting to be bored stiff after reading all of the reviews out there, but I was pleasantly surprised that I actually enjoyed the experience.
If you want to show off the fancy shininess of your new console, or if you just like simple straight forward hack-n-slash this is a good title for it.
Note: I haven't checked out the multiplayer, so I can't give an opinion on that facet.

Ryse is a bit of a marmite game, if you are looking for a great gaming experience that takes forever to perfect then Ryse is not for you. If you are interested in a Roman interactive movie with a solid story line then I’d say give it a shot.

Beautiful but stale, boring, shallow and lacking in variation.

Ryse: Son of Rome is a really good looking game, but at the same time incredible stupid. Thanks to the graphics and the amount of brutal combat the adventure managed to entertain, at least for a bit. If you find Ryse on sale it can be worth a closer look, but for a full price game it’s a disappointment.
