    I don't play it in 2013 'cause i was stupid and sometimes i hear the critic. So I lost my without knowing how GREAT this Game is. Is short but it worths every second you play it. The narrative and gameplay have conquered me. I LOVE IT!

    One of the best games I've played on the Xbox, literally everything in this game is great the story. gameplay. the soundtrack, and more the game is kinda overrated but I'm a fan of this.
    and highly recommend everyone have Xbox to play it!

    Increible que este juegazo sea del 2013, tiene mejores graficos que el 90% de los juegos actuales, la historia es increible, me lo he pasado 10+ veces desde que ha salido y nunca cansa.. Juegazo, no puedo creer que tenga un 6,4, realmente la gente no valora los buenos videojuegos! ojala salga una secuela porque sin duda alguna se lo merece!!!

    It’s a great game, I played it originally on gamepass then I played god of war 2018 and I was just wondering how this game was so much more fun. It made me like it even more when I found out it was an Xbox exclusive. If you like good combat games give it a shot, it also has a story I really liked.

    Way better than the anti-hype run up the internet boards would have you believe. I honestly bought it thinking it was going to be kinda crappy but figured it was launch and graphically it looked awesome so I'd get over it. I was pleasantly surprised that not only was the game not crappy but I ended up having a lot of fun with it.

    A very strong game, and on top of that insanely hard if you will dare to venture into the centurion/legendary difficulty. The combat is very interesting and quite demanding, while you possibly could just repeat one sequence of actions and eventual (after many reloads) win, if you want to trully excel and score a lot you will need to get busy and creative with your button mashing.

    A gorgeous hack and slash that is a blast to play. This game is simply heaps of fun and to me that is the biggest and most often overlooked aspect of gaming nowadays. The combat is vicious and fluid and delivers those "OMG!" moments as you hack off limbs and impale enemies with your sword. You have 4 categories each chosen with a direction on the D-Pad that activate different attributesA gorgeous hack and slash that is a blast to play. This game is simply heaps of fun and to me that is the biggest and most often overlooked aspect of gaming nowadays. The combat is vicious and fluid and delivers those "OMG!" moments as you hack off limbs and impale enemies with your sword. You have 4 categories each chosen with a direction on the D-Pad that activate different attributes and different sets of death animations in each category so mixing the combat and animations up is really up to you and not that repetitive at all. The online component is even more entertaining than the single player! Wrecking havoc in the coliseum with a friend against waves of enemies and traps is very cool and again lots of fun. You can unlock sets of weapons and armor that affect your skills online differently depending on how you suit up for battle. This game is a perfect launch title IMO as it does a great job of keeping you coming back for more and it's overall fun factor...make no mistake though, it is easy to pick up and play but can be tough to master, especially on higher difficulties.     I picked this up on launch night and am really enjoying it. It looks amazing, I have had my breath taken away many times. Its the sort of game that reminds me of playing in the arcades 20 years ago, you dont want to sit down for hours on end with it, just dip in for 1/2 hour sessions, play it on a high difficulty setting and you'll have fun hacking and slashing your way across Britain!

    I really enjoyed this game. The graphics are amazingly rich, the gameplay is varied and takes mastery and the whole thing makes you feel like Russell Crowe in Gladiator. I had a lot of fun.

    The story is amazing, every character has its own personality, there is work behind that. A lot. And the universe is completely credible, and though it is fiction, I had no problem believing in every happening story event.

    Gameplay side, the experience and character evolution is okay. Very classic, but still, you'll enjoy unlocking everything for your character, specially executions. And the game takes all its sense on Legendary difficulty. It is truly challenging. The AI is nothing like what any developer ever did before, since you'll feel like she's learning from your way of playing.

    Graphically, I won't even bother explain how perfect it is. I've never seen such a realistic render. Shaders are just impressive.

    Voice acting and all the soundtrack is of great quality.

    And here's the conclusion, this game is a masterpiece of art. It is going to draw you all the way in a Roman second century drama. Its realization, and story will keep you from stop playing it.

    I'll give it a ten, because I believe there will be a sequel, if it pushes further in character evolution.    … Expand

    Gorgeous game, would have been a 10 had it been longer. The combat is very fun in my opinion. To each their own i suppose, it is definitely worth a buy in my book.

    Love the game!! Haters gonna hate!! But the game is solid, its different then anything I have played. You must play it on harder modes to understand the depth of the gameplay.

    Ryse Son of rome was my absolute favorite game to release on the next generation of systems. The Graphics were absolutely breath taking, The story was incredible and even-though the game wasn't very long i absolutely enjoyed every minute of it. I really don't understand the hate the game has been getting because i have none to give.     Personally I don't understand the hate being generated towards this amazing game. The game play is challenging and is not repetitive. I can't understand why a game that has the same combat mechanics of the Batman Arkham series and Assasins Creed would score so low. Great great game don't believe the misinformation being spread to the contrary.

    The gameplay is repetitive. There's no getting around that. That aspect makes the game really fun for short stints, but not ideal for extremely long playthroughs. I really enjoyed the ability to choose what I'd receive for my executions though. Concentrating on this aspect allowed me to ignore the repetition and become more strategic. Overall, I'd easily recommend the game if you can get it for $50 or less. It's extremely impressive, and for short to moderate stints, it's a lot of fun. Its not trying to be perfect, and it would be a shame if people skipped over it for that reason. The story alone is quite impressive. Definitely worth your time!    … Expand

    game is too short to get boring like everyone says. the online is great fun competition. best looking game of next gen. combat is smooth. in game menu's are smooth. good story telling. the campaign is short so it you are just going for that and no multiplayer then rent this game.

So just ignore that noise! The reality is you get what you see with Ryse and if you realize exactly what this game is before you play you will not be disappointed! I have had an absolute blast so far with its uncomplicated, beautiful and brutal combat. I am generally a hardcore RPG player but this game really is hard to ignore! The gameplay is amazing watching the executions never gets old, the story is good as well maybe not the best, but you tell its trying to be something different.     For a start the graphics are the best I have ever seen, everything looks so smooth, consistent and realistic. The controls are very responsive and smooth. The storyline is actually very well done, a few twists and turns which keep you guessing and very good overall really. There is a co-operative multiplayer mode laced with different arenas, and modes fun for a little while.     The graphic is amazing. Cinematic story is sick. And the multiplayer is surprisingly fun. Wish there were more varieties of enemies though. i would definitely buy a sequel

    This might be one of my favorite games to play! It was the first game that I popped in to play when I got my xbox one. The graphics look spectacular! The storyline is great. The graphic kills my favorite part! I would have given it a higher score but the campaign is short.. but after the first three hours of the game you know exactly what to do and I like that! This game is simply beautiful and a game-changer. I definitely think this will be a visual benchmark for many futures games to come. Every aspect was crafted with the utmost detail in mind. The sound is exquisite and although short, it should be treated as a movie rather than a game. Consider this is a launch title and strict deadlines are always in place. New hardware, and new mechanics need to be mapped. You don't come out with the best possible creation you can possibly make right out of the gate. That just doesn't happen and should not be expected. For what it is and when it was released. It is a masterpiece. As far as other games in this genre, this one takes the cake in almost all aspects.

    Gameplay: all comes down to the user. If you find it repetitive, it is simply down to the fact you are not creative enough to make your own fun and change it up. Go play a Nintendo game if all you care about is gameplay. I had a blast trying to run up my combo, and finding creative ways to land kills; getting my timing just right. The executions were impeccable, and movements almost seemed borderline lifelike.

    Graphics: This speaks for itself. I don't think I need to beat around talking about this. People should really consider this in their scores. Rome comes to life.

    Environment: Linear, but with all the visuals to keep you immersed. My jaw dropped when I entered the arena and I had a rush of excitement. They pulled off this atmosphere perfectly.

    Story: Very movie-like. Entertainment value for me held up throughout the entire game. I was gripped almost the entire time. There aren't many games in this genre (good games) and I'm pretty tired of all the Greek Myth, etc. So going Roman and having an ode to Spartacus got it just right for me. Marius isn't a super hero, but just another character. I appreciated this.

    Ryse is short, it looks to have spawned from a tech demo. The incredible graphics aren't consistent and some things are barely 'next gen'. BUT.. it's great fun. In 6 to 12 months when it's cheap... have a go. Multiplayer is solid fun.

    This game is Gorgeous. whether you are fighting in ancient Rome or in the Swamps the detail to this game is out of this world. It is also really fun game to play. I recommend playing on legendary that way the AI doesn't stand around and wait for you to finish slaying their buddies. the combat style while simple has to have perfect timing on the harder modes which makes the perks helpfulThis game is Gorgeous. whether you are fighting in ancient Rome or in the Swamps the detail to this game is out of this world.     If you love games with gore and dismemberment you will love this game!
    the game confused me at first but by the end they did a really nice job piecing the story together. the combat reminds me of assassins creed with having to time blocking and attacks, but with much more gore ).

    -beautiful exicutions
    -solid combat system
    -keeps a steady framerate for almost all the time
    - facial features and graphics are insane
    -very graphic ending

    cons:
    -i found the boss fights kind of easy (but has awesome cutscenes)
    -war elephants could've been cooler
    -i could see it being repetitive after multiple playthroughs
    -shortish campaign (took me about 10 hours)

    the game is definitely worth playing and beating. i havent tried the multiplayer yet but now i beat the game im gonna try it. i dont understand the low ratings when this game doesnt get any glitches and feels underated it feels polished and finished but i hope for some type of sequel!    … Expand

    Really enjoyed my time and the game. Sure it might be repetitive this is a beat them all, but learn how to play it and you'll spend definitely a good time. Next time a little bit longer story mode will make it 9.

The combat, while simplistic and repetitive, is brutal and brings a huge grin to my face, even after hours of play and late into the game. Story line is sufficient. There's strong attacks which causes you to lung at opponents to strike with sword or shield, there's normal shield bash and sword strikes, rolling, blocking, etc. Each attack can be cancelled at any time to escape into a roll like as if you were faking your opponent out; you must learn to finesse. You can lure enemies into traps in the gladiator arena. The scenery in the gladiator arena is constantly shifting and adding new options for entertaining the crowd with combat. You can time the quick time events or skip them all together, you can time them to get double kill finishers or even to kick someone into a fire pit. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS GAME GOT LOW REVIEWS. I Absolutely disagree. I suppose some people just don't know the beauty of this game because they didn't try it long enough to figure out how deep the fighting system is. Once you learn how to really fight and use your environments, it gets so fun and has a ton of replay value. This game also serves as an incredible foundation for what's to come. Imagine a sequel! 9.0 all the way. 1 point off for things like no offline multiplayer.    … Expand

    There are a lot of really bipolar reviews for this game, and having played it, I have to say it's getting trashed unfairly. Ryse is a lot of fun. You have to be into the Hack-n-Slash sort of game, but if you are, it's a blast. Freakin' beautiful to look at; decent revenge story; B:A-style combat. All in all, a worthwhile investment for Xbox One owners.

    Visuals alone give it at least a 6. but I really enjoyed playing Ryse: Son of Rome, come on how do you not enjoy slicing peoples arms and legs off. I thought the story so really good, could of given you more of whats going on but a good start.
    The reason I only give it a 9 is the harder AI's really only do one more over and over and it get annoying and repetitive. I thought the story so really good, could of given you more of whats going on but a good start.
    The reason I only give it a 9 is the harder AI's really only do one more over and over and it get annoying and repetitive. But, i never got tired of finishing moves they were pretty sweet

    Dead Rising 3 is insane fun. Building crazy weapons and wiping out the zombie hordes is extremely addicting. Tons of side missions and good boss fights keep you playing. Just starting my 2nd play through so I can get the Megaman Suit. Yes, I said Megaman. The thought of getting the suit and Megablaster and wiping out zombies as Megaman puts a smile on my face.

    Just finished the campaign, and I had a lot of fun. Interesting story, beautiful graphics, and fun (if repetitive) combat carried me through the story. Absolutely recommended for any new xbox one owner.

    Exceptional game! The way the intensity of the story, acting, sound design and visuals plunges you into ancient Rome is beyond description. The gameplay is fun, but takes some time to master. A second play through is essential and in truth, finishing the game left me wanting more. Sequel PLEASE!

Beautiful graphics, very good story excellent voice acting and motion capture and a super solid combat system (even if basic) make his game a must play.     Graphics are amazing. Probably the best of all the next-gen games so far (across all the platforms). Story is good, not great. Action is a lot of fun. Could use more variety in terms of enemies. Some leaps in story logic. Needs multiple playthroughs to fully build your character.

    A great and beatiful game. Really next-gen. Very good to play. Very nice scenarios. Very good action. The campain is a little bit short, but no so short as some people are saying. Multiplayer mode is not so good. It's cool, but get tired quickly. Worth the money. Very pleasant.

    There is a light RPG-ish system that allows you to unlock abilities and executions and you'll unlock most on the first play through. It has a co-op multiplayer component (2 players) where you fight in the coliseum and keep the crowd entertained. I always enjoyed fighting alongside someone and keeping the crowd cheering through some crazy scenarios. Understand that, when I rate this, I rate it as an adult with a life, not a "hardcore gamer". I have maybe an hour a day to play games and for me, this game is perfect. This is a casual game, it's easy to pick up and play, you can play offline or online, it looks great and has enough depth and variation in the combat to keep things interesting.

    Buy it on PC if you are able. I was was surprised re-installing it on X1X to see it still locked to 720p. Oof. Looks great on PC though :)    … Expand

    It is surprisingly a great game regardless of most of reviews out there. Incredible movie-like graphics that come with a decent story.

    Gameplay is unfortunately a bit linear but the entire package surprises.

    I would give it a 10/10 but I believe it's a bit pricey for only about 10 hours of gameplay.

    First let me just say I love ancient Rome. Ok that aside I was so stoked when this game was announced and shown. I went and I bought it, I was not disappointed. It was beautiful, fast fluid (somewhat repetitive) combat, excellent story, excellent acting, and of course ancient Rome. The game is not flawless though. It does have repetitive combat and executions also but I still enjoy cutting some's leg off and giving me a break from somewhat overwhelming enemies at times. The multiplayer is there and you can see the hard work that went into it, but after a little bit it became kind of lack luster, but I do appreciate the fact that it is there. All and all, it was almost a perfect game for me and I hope others enjoy it as much as I did.… Expand

    This is a brutal and addictive game which is a positive for me. Great graphics and a very interesting game play .This game is all about combat and blood with a roman named Marius. The finishers are are almost perfect and the combat is fun. The only flaw is the length which is not sort but not to long either. It left me wanting more because the story was remarkable!

    This is to date, THE most ACCURATE and VISCERAL game putting a gameplayer into feeling EXACTLY what it was like to be a soldier or centurion in the Roman Empire late in the Empire.

    I'm MOST impressed with the graphics, and also some of the historical accuracy. Not so much with relation to Commodus (yeah, he was a nucking futcase, but so were so many other emperors, but for some reason he gets the "bad guy" label every time), but with relation to Bodicea (Boodica), and her role in the uprising in Brittania, which proved to be such a thorn in the Roman sides late in their empire.

    Also the portrayal of the "Goths" (in the "North land") was suitably terrifying, and really went a long way to putting you in the mindset of an average Roman Soldier at the time - you knew you were fighting with the world's most technologically advanced and tactically superior armies in the world, and yet, in this place in the North, you encountered warriors who were so fierce and terrifying that it basically undermined all your training and everything you knew about fighting.

    Ok, so the Combat mechanics (a lot of people have already said this) was a bit simple, and a bit boring...

    BUT.. I don't mind.. Because the STORY, the ACTING, is of such a high caliber that it really doesn't matter. YES, this does become a "Slash and Dash" game as a result.

    So is it as engaging as another game like "Mirror's Edge", or "Mass Effect"?

    No, it's not. But let's be honest, even THOSE games, the only reason they're "More complex" is because there's more controller buttons involved before an action happens.

    Is this game "Slash and Dash"? Definitely.

    Does it matter?

    Not in the SLIGHTEST.

    It's an INCREDIBLY detailed and accurate portrayal of the late Roman empire, with EXCEPTIONAL performances and scriptwriting, with a bit of slashing and dashing here and there..

The gameplay isn't anything to write home about, and the game is also quite short. On the other hand, the visuals are excellent, and still hold up even until today. Very fun, and enjoyable game.

    Good, fun, linear action game. Good story, good action, simple mechanics. Available on Gamepass "RYSE Son of Rome" is a title worth trying.

    I don't know if Gaystation fanboys are okay or they just hate XBOX games for nothing. This game is PERFECT. Graphics and gameplay wise but the problem is the fighting scenes are abit repetitive and the story is short. If Microsoft and Crytech added more fighting scenes awith different skills and long gameplay the game would have been a huge hype

    Interesting thing I would like to point out ; In the every other game I've played, whenever an action cutscene plays your character performs killing moves that you can not do in the actual gameplay. But in this one you can actually execute most of Marius' cutscene moves and this greatly increases the immersive feeling for me, makes watching the cutscenes even more enjoyable.

    I also understand why some compare it to gow. Only thing missing is more variety of gameplay. In many other ways I found it more successful than the new gow games.
    There are rumors that the sequel is in development, I hope it's true.

    It also looks very good even without oneX improvement. It is admirable that they were able to give these visuals even on Xbox One, which is weaker than the PS4. I thought these images were only possible in racing games on this device.

    When I look at it, One's launch games are really solid games. Way better than ps4's launch titles.
    But unfortunately, these games did not get the attention they deserve due to the kinect-loving managers and terrible pr.

    Gets lots of bad reviews but I actually enjoyed going through it. Game is basic but reminded of games like Dante's inferno. I think Kinect was just too far ahead of the time and this game just was hit by the xone release too hard. Look now at Alexa and people wanting to control their tv with voice and hand motions

    Amazing game. How can people give this 6. Beautiful, brutal action. Its a Roman soldier action/fighter. Very story driven and feeling like the gladiator movie.

    Honestly, it's no game of the year, but it's an absolutely beautiful and an all round great launch title for the Xbox One. The story is engaging and although the fighting mechanics may feel repetitive at times, I always felt challenged throughout the game; which isn't that often these days. It's definitely worth a play, I didn't regret it one bit.

    I really enjoyed this game more than I thought I would. The graphics are incredible, but the single-player story is what really drew me in. The multilayer is also surprisingly fun. My only issue with the game is some of the enemies can be repetitive at times. Looking forward to a squeal!

    Is this the best game made? No. However, it also is not the worst game made. I love how people complain it is repetitive. EVERY game made is repetitive, including MMOs. The fights feel like they were going for a Batman: Arkham (et al) feel to them and they were able to get the fluid part down.

    This game was made with eye candy in mind. The scenery and environments were incredible.    Is this the best game made? No. However, it also is not the worst game made.     This game was made with eye candy in mind. The scenery and environments were incredible. The people's expressions and body movements were really good as well. The details that you can see make you want to stop and just look around. It is a really good launch title that shows off what next gen is going to be like (and from here it will only get better). The atmosphere from the sounds were incredible as well. They also had top notch voice acting (when there was actually speaking).

    Do I wish there was more to the game? A little. I wish they would have fleshed the story out a little more, it was pretty good but it seems to be a little short.

    I really enjoyed Ryse. The melee combat reminded me of the Batman franchise which I really like. The single player game isn't very long, unfortunately for some, but I don't have the attention span to play marathon experiences anymore so I personally prefer shorter games, though maybe you would wait a bit for a more accessible price for such a short game. I like hack n' slash games so I understood what I was getting and found it enjoyable. The only thing I wish they would have had more variety in was the executions. I'm okay with QTE's now and again, but they did get repetitive towards the middle and end. Repetitiveness aside, they still looked amazing when it would down time, speed it up, hack off an arm and then face smash them with your shield.

    For anyone who is on here saying it looks great and amazing but then gives it a 1-4 because of the game play it's sad. Scores for a game like this don't deserve to be dragged down by those who don't understand what they are getting.

    Ryse is a bit of a marmite game, if you are looking for a great gaming experience that takes forever to perfect then Ryse is not for you. If you are interested in a Roman interactive movie with a solid story line then I’d say give it a shot.

    Ryse: Son of Rome is a really good looking game, but at the same time incredible stupid. Thanks to the graphics and the amount of brutal combat the adventure managed to entertain, at least for a bit. If you find Ryse on sale it can be worth a closer look, but for a full price game it’s a disappointment.
