Lots of modes and courses missing compared to the traditional PGA Tour game.

Still, overall it's a great game if you can look past what is not finished or not included due to time

This game is awesome. I'v had it since the launch date on the 14th and uv played about 5 hours. Don't listen to the haters!!! I love this game and look forward to spending the better part of my free time playing it. Expand

Although the game right now lacks some of the most basic features of previous titles, I can see the potential in this game.

Simply put, if you were a fan of Mario Golf for its precise 3-button gameplay and loved Tiger Woods games, this game is a great mix of the two.

Yes, features are missing. But a solid gameplay experience is there, especially if you are a traditional fan of 3-click golf. And you can mix 3-click with "in air spin" if you want. Awesome!

As far as golf gameplay goes, this is a great value if you can pick it up cheap.

Again, if you loved the way Mario Golf played, this is a no brainer.

After a two year break, EA Sports makes it's way back on the green with the release of McIlroy PGA Tour. If you are a big fan of golfing games like myself, this is welcome news. My very first golfing game was simply titled Golf, which was released in 1984 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

This game was built completely new from the ground up for the Xbox One and PS4 systems using the Frostbite Engine. This engine has been used in making games like Mass Effect and Battlefield, but it is the first time it has been used in making a sports title. You can really tell the difference the Frostbite Engine made in this me. If you do a side by side comparison with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, which was released two years ago, the difference is night and day. Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR looks absolutely amazing. Little things you may have never noticed before in a golf game will now stand out and catch you eye like never before.

I'm guessing that all of the negative reviews are from people who don't understand what "settings" are. Most of the complaints can be addressed if you venture into that area...smh. That said, the game is decent but it feels a little flat compared to other offerings from EA. The graphics are pretty and all of that but it makes you miss the TW PGA games. The game play is similar and I like what they have done with the putting and such but there is something missing that keeps this game from being "WOW" worthy. I am disappointed with the lack of customization options for your golfer as well. Overall the game is decent with a hint of meh, not worth $60 off the bat but if DLC's will indeed be free, then $60 isn't too bad. Expand

I've played and finished to 100% at least one version of every EA golf game ever created, and this game gets an 8 only because of its potential. Here are the pros:

    (1) The courses selected and/or created by EA are excellent. I LOVE that you get to play Chambers Bay for the US Open, St Andrew for The Open, and Whistling Straits for the PGA, just like the 2015 season. The lack of The Masters is a HUGE letdown though.
    (2) The game was made more challenging than in previous years. For example, the Quick Rounds feature makes sure your Birdies or Eagles on every hole make for an exciting tournament--as the other players will all play 18 holes, you can't zoom over-top your shot, which is something you couldn't do in real life, there is not a power boost other that the joystick being moved by the user, you cannot control the spin while in the air, among other things.
    (3) The graphics meet the console standard

    Here are the cons:
    (1) Hitting out of bunkers or deep impressions is nearly impossible because of the height and rate at which the ball reaches it's apex on a flop or chip shot. This is adjustable but there are simply shots that cannot be hit. Also, there is a cosmetic detail with attempting this--the golfer simply looks ridiculous and makes a stance a pro or moderately decent amateur would never make.
    (2) The lack of golf courses is depressing. I've always dreamed of a golf game where one can play an entire season and play a different golf course every week--just like the tour pros do. The 14 edition allowed users roughly 20 courses plus the option to purchase courses for the store. EA NEEDS TO DO WHATEVER THEY NEED TO DO TO ALLOW PURCHASERS TO BUY COURSES FOR THIS GAME!!!! So far, I have noticed on the game's bulletin that TPC Scottsdale will become available at a later date.
    (3) The commentary is on point to what is actually happening about 75% of the time, which makes having the volume on extremely annoying. The commentators are excellent in real-life golf events, and it makes me feel like EA got lazy with the sound bites. However, I do have to give them credit because they give excellent course expertise, and if anyone knows who Frank Nobilo is, he has competed on most of the game's courses in real-life, which is actually a neat feature.
    (4) To whoever said double-bogey is the max score...double PAR is the max score. On a par 3 you max at 6, par 4 you max at 8, and par 5 you max at 10. That was at least the impression I got because I got a 6 on the downhill par 3 at the new Grand Canyon course--now I get a 2 every time after figuring out what club to hit.
    (5) You cannot max your specific skills do to good performance--you merely select a blanket attribute that is imperfect.

All in all, these are possibly glitches updates could fix for this game. I sunk about $64.00 into this game after tax, so I'd hate to wait for a new edition. It's the only game I play so I'd like it fixed ASAP.

Did tiger woods write half these reviews? As someone who couldn't give a crap about featured golfers or extra modes, i find this to tick all my boxes.

Half the features people are saying are missing can be changed via options..... sure you can put the effort into making an account to whinge about how much it sucks, but you can't press start and look around for a minute? Did anyone

Did anyone actually play the game for more than an hour? I don't think so otherwise over 30 people wouldnt be spreading false and misleading reviews.

In June 2021, Rory Mcilroy golf looks amazing on xbox series s.

The game now has nineteen courses including my favorite, Sawgrass. You can choose lots of different types of shots and use fade, draw, and hit the ball lower for more height or higher for more depth. Graphics are clean and clear, probably an eight in todays terms. Sounds and music are good, another eight. But

But it's the gameplay that shines along with lots of different modes like skins. You can even play at night.

Personally I'll be playing this for years to come, I love the arcade swing to the shots.

Excellent game that has clearly improved as time has gone on.

I'm a hardcore Tiger Woods player and only play computer golf games on the hardest settings in as close to sim like environment as possible. So at first I wasn't sure about the change of direction this game took because it meant learning a new control system that felt different which meant I had to change the way I approached each shot (generally I don't like change); so I put the game down until recently when I got the golf bug again. Once I accepted the new design I almost couldn't fault the game. The quality is there, the courses are there, the physics are spot on, it's graphically the best golf game on the marked in my opinion. Really the more I allowed myself to accept the game the better it got.

I scored it a 9 instead of a 10 because the customisation of the golfer isn't good, actually it's pathetic. But if you can accept new control principles and can ignore the customisation options this game is great and a absolutely recommend. Better than The Golf Club and Perfect Golf.

The tight mechanics and gameplay cannot be overlooked and EA certainly has made good on that ground. Is it as enjoyable as the previous titles? No. It lacks the depth which its predecessors possessed and as a result, you’re left with little will to return. Regardless, this is the first half-decent golfing game on the current gen consoles, and aside from the gimmicky Night Club Challenges and inclusion of Star Wars Battlefront-themed courses, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour offers a level of realism that you’re unlikely to find anywhere else right now.

This should have been a glorious comeback for EA's golf series, but it is a let-down. Especially because it takes everything away that made the last games with Tiger Woods so much fun.
