Starting over never felt like an issue. It was pure fun growing in skill and developing your knowledge of the monsters. The combat system worked near flawlessly, and even though you were doing the same thing every dungeon it didn’t feel tedious. It was a challenge you wanted to complete. There could be some added bosses and traps, or even some kind of challenge mode. The lack of story didn’t prove an issue, as it didn’t even feel needed. If you’re into roguelite games or hate them, I suggest giving this a try.

Rift Keeper throws its hat in the Rogue-like genre but unfortunately comes up a little short. There are some solid ideas buried in there and it’s clear to see the team ambitions. but some technical hiccups held the experience back.

Rift Keeper on Xbox One is entertaining for a short period of time, however due to dodgy controls and simple visuals it provides little incentive to carry on playing.

You begin in a small town with three shops to get armor, weapons, and spells. You enter a church, where a ritual takes places with a rift for you telleport to Hell. All levels start off in a similar manner, and you are able to walk to a rift in Hell after eliminating 70% of all enemies on the current level. You aquire gold from getting kills and use it at the shops. No Micro Transactions to be seen here thankfully. You may find chests shop items for free too. The game is simple in concept and was not overly exciting for me. I've definitely played worse games but it isn't going to win GOTY either. Not overly priced, so it may be worth a look for some into the genre, it just didn't tickle my fancy the way I was expecting it to. Expand
