Reverie Knights Tactics is a distillation - and slight simplification - of everything that makes turn-based strategy games great. It doesn’t push the boundaries of the genre like your average X-COM, but sometimes a comfy bit of armchair warfare is exactly the cup of tea you need. As a bonus, you get a likeable fantasy romp as a side-biscuit.

It’s been a while since I’ve had a great tactics style game that I couldn’t put down, but Reverie Knights Tactics did just that, having me wanting to play ‘just one more battle’. While not the most unique SRPG out there, it’s a solid experience overall and even leaves itself up for a hopeful sequel down the road even if its ending happens abruptly.

Reverie Knights Tactics is an excellent tactical RPG. Its well-oiled combat system offers some real sensations and will make our brains go into hyperdrive. Going half-cocked will follow with an unprecedented demise. To move forward, you must take advantage of the confrontations’ richness, and this will be done with a large grin on your face thanks to an interesting and well-told narrative, and most importantly, thanks to choices that will have a measurable impact. All of this within an enticing visual environment on which great studios have contributed. Yes, what we have here is a very good game, although a little short if done straightforwardly.

I loved turn based tactics titles but this is one you should definitely give a miss. The battles are so slow and lethargic, it feels like you're stuck in mud. This wouldnt be a problem if the animations were so poor, its look like they are missing several frames. The cutscene stills arent so bad but the characters you play with make no sense and are badly written. A teenage girl lead character with glasses in a medieval world of elves and goblins. This really takes you out of the game. The engine also runs poorly with several bugs. Give this a try if you must but rather get it at a bargain bin discount. Full Review »
