I think Resident Evil 6 is one of the most under appreciated and underated game of the past years. It's true that, not unlike RE 5 (and maybe 4), we are far from the gameplay the original fans loved so much.

But it's important to highlight the qualities of said-gameplay. The dynamics of the controls have been refined since RE4 or 5. You could say that Capcom embrassed it's new
I think Resident Evil 6 is one of the most under appreciated and underated game of the past years. It's true that, not unlike RE 5 (and maybe 4), we are far from the gameplay the original fans loved so much.

But it's important to highlight the qualities of said-gameplay.

The dynamics of the controls have been refined since RE4 or 5. You could say that Capcom embrassed it's new approach to this amazing series. It's much more reflex orientated and allows us to perform stylistic actions, which I appreciate. Most of all, the controls and timing is very precise and fine-tuned and this creates a tight gameplay that can create fun challenges in high difficulty modes but remains accessible in the lower ones. You will find that for every situation and every enemies there is always the brute force strategy but there is also the subtle and often easier one that can beat the hardest enemies if you learn to time and chain your actions the right way.

The game also offers 4 campaigns with 2 playable characters, each one offering it's own abilities. Each campaign is linked to a particular setting/mood and a type of gameplay/action too. So, depending on your feelings that day, you can choose to play one or the other. The Leon campaign is the closest to the originals RE (racoon city / manor environments), the Chris - punch the boulder - Redfield campaign is more a call of duty style of game with lots of gunfights and covers, and the Jake campaign is more experimental with more hand to hand combats and a Nemesis tracking you. Ada Wong was originally intended as a full solo campaign (which is probably the way to experience it), and is kind of a mix of the 3 other campaigns with a stealth approach to some situations.

To make things more interesting, Capcom has included lots of challenges and modes to play solo or even drop in a player's campaign to fight alongside her/him or against! Like RE5, it's best to play the campaign in coop but the AI is smart enough that it will not be a burden to experience all this in solo. Like all Resident, the replay value is immense with abilities to unlock and modes and challenges to complete.

I can't stress enough how Resident Evil 6 is an amazing game. It might not be what lots of people expect from a Resident Evil (I personnaly appreciate the evolution, but I know lots of people don't feel this way), but if you want a well crafted, rich and well polished game that takes you all over the world in various environments like deadly cemeteries, zombie infested campus, BOWs (Bio Organic Weapon) with machine guns in corporate headquarters in japan, submarines, american cities overwhelmed by the dead, churches, founderies, and more, look no further.

Played this on the Xbox 360 and whilst a game that is not without its flaws it's still a fantastic game with lots of very different missions and characters to play. I will pick this up soon so I can go back into multiplayer and kick some ***!

My 1st RE game was 5, which I had so much fun playing. I was told I should try 4 if I liked 5, so I did. 4 was as amazing as 5. So I was very excited when I started hearing about 6. I pre-paid for it, picked it up at midnight on the release date and proceeded to play the heck out of it since that day (today being 8/10/2018). So I was very excited when I started hearing about 6. I pre-paid for it, picked it up at midnight on the release date and proceeded to play the heck out of it since that day (today being 8/10/2018). For RE 6, I initially played the 4 campaigns, put it away for 5 months, played them all again, put it away for 10 months, put it away for a year and now I get in the RE mood once a year and actually play 4, 5 and 6 almost back to back, usually in the fall. I’ll be playing them again soon I’m sure. Since this is a review for 6 then here goes: The keyword is FUN! I have FUN with all of them (4-6 – never played 1-3). To me, they all have spooky atmospheres, but none are really scary. I’m ok with that, I’ll take spooky atmosphere. The only game level that ever scared me was the 1st Condemned game, at the start of Bart’s Department store. It was late night when I entered Bart’s level, and I had to turn it off and try during the day. Cool spooky atmosphere is a fun environment to play in, which RE: 4-6 have a lot of. 6 was the least “cluncky” of them all, it was very smooth compared to the other games. I thought “cool” when I could shoot and move at the same time. If you don’t like RE: 6, then ok, but it’s because of that hate that I had to be disappointed with RE: 7’s 1st person perspective. I liked RE: 7, it was also fun, but I miss the gameplay of 4, 5 and 6. 6 was fun and no one can take that from me. It’s a shame I’ll probably never get another 3rd person RE numbered game. Having said that, RE: Revelations 2 has been fun to play as well, it’s as close as I’ll get to RE: 4-6, though Evil Within is filling that void as well. RE: 6 gets a 9 from me. None of them are quite 10’s, but darn near close. Just little things lower the score a bit, but I won’t focus on the negative, these are great games and I hope we see more of these types of games in the future. The style of 7 is fine, I’ll buy them in the future and play them I'm sure, but I’d love to see more of the 4-6 classic formula revisited from time to time, even if it’s between the main RE numbered titles, like the Revelation series. BUT… 6 is a darn good game… to me… Expand

In 2012, I forgave most of Resident Evil 6‘s failings, and I’m ashamed at my behaviour in doing so. I couldn’t, in good conscience, do that any longer. It’s an already dated game, worse now due to its chaos than ever before.

If you are hell bent on grabbing RE6, wait for a price drop. $20 is even too steep in my opinion.

I don't think that there is really any new content here for fans who played the game comprehensively the first time around, so it is those returning players who should consider their purchase most carefully.
