Obra Maestra de Rockstar, un mundo muy vivo e imersivo, y como en el primer RDR, muchas actividades para realizar, misiones secundarias, la historia es grandiosa, llegas a sentirte muy encariñado con el personaje

ok overall, buggy, no improvement from GTAV which is disappointing, story is just ok, cut scenes are rough and editing was done poorly. Game is very linear in play style. finish the game before exploring a ton.

So... if I give popular game bad score it means I'm a hater who loves to hate popular games? If I give it good score I'm just a piece of sh't fanboy!? Apparently facts are something people don't understand. Well I don't give a flying f'ck so I'm gonna lay down some facts.

In about 40 hours in to the game I woke up to a realization, that everything I've done so far wasn't very interesting. Rockstar tried to go with more realism with this one and implemented some survival elements but the problem is that if you don't sleep or eat or clean yourself it doesn't really matter. You can't die of hunger. I didn't eat anything during 67 hours of gameplay just to see if something happens. So the "survival" elements are there just to annoy you. If you shoot an opponent in the chest three times the bastard still keeps running around. In my books, that's not realism.

Gameplay is where rdr 2 doesn't shine. Arthur, your main character controls like a sack of snot. You move very slowly. You can't sprint in the main camp that works as a hub area that you can use to upgrade and restock your ammo and supplies, It's not tiny, the camp is actually quite a big area. This was a thing that almost made me quit. It's really that annoying so I tried to stay out of the camp as much as possible but you have to visit often to pick up missions. Shooting is allover the place. I can't hit anything. Had to turn on auto lock for aiming. Fast travel is very limited. You are forced to ride your horse almost everywhere. Horse controls aren't bad actually. It's fun to a certain point. After a while it just becomes a chore. Taking care of your horse is a big thing. You have to feed it and clean it so it stays healthy. Bounty system is a complete joke. Somebody attacks you out of nowhere and you can't defend yourself at all or you get a bounty. If you bump to somebody in a street, you get a bounty. If you kill somebody out in the wilderness there's always somebody to witness the crime. Doesn't matter if you shoot that one, another will pop out of nowhere so you have to kill that one too and it becomes an infinite loop. No matter what, you're going to get a bounty even in middle of nowhere.

    Very minor spoiler ahead!!!

Story and characters aren't very interesting. Basic western story that has been told many times before. I must admit tho. Certain saloon scene where Arthur is drunk as a skunk and constantly looses his friend Lenny, is the funniest thing I've seen in games for years. I was laughing so hard I almost shat my pants.

Graphics these days are a matter of taste. Everybody seems to like different things. This one looks very realistic. I can almost smell the horse sh't It's that good. The attention to details is uncanny. One thing that I don't like about this generation games is the color palette. Every game looks the same and colors are very dim or light or what ever. There seems to be very little of contrast and blacks are not blacks. Dark areas seem bright but they aren't?? Weird but I don't know how to quite describe it. Maybe it's a thing with hdr, I sure as hell don't know.

This game was in development for 8 years. It really shows in the detail and graphics department but what's usually missing in games today is also missing here which is good controls. Some game play aspects like aiming and the bounty system do need a lot of tweaking. I have no idea why people are calling this game groundbreaking and saying that it has changed gaming forever. Everything that's in this game has already been done better elsewhere. Don't get too hang up on my score. I actually don't know if I should give it 3 or 9. It's a weird mix of awesome in few things and a lot of.. meh.. in everywhere else. So if you like slow paced game play in a bad third person shooter where you have survival elements that don't matter and you hate fast travel and like western theme and wanna watch horses balls shrink in snow storm, then this game is right up your alley.

Totalmente realista tanto los gráficos como la interaccion con cualquier tipo de cosa personajes, apuntado del arma, cabalgar, etc. Las misiones son fantásticas tanto secundaras como principales. Game is phenomenal hands down best game of 2018...

This game is better than god of war

    Controls are easy to remember

    Extremely realistic (especially in 4kUHD)

Cons: When i'm in St.Denis with a horse people walk right in front of me and report me for "assault"

But who cares always nice for a shootout

May be one of the best games ever. Why give it only a 9 then? Here I list the reasons. A non-haters view of why this game isn't perfect. May be one of the best games ever. Why give it only a 9 then? Here I list the reasons. A non-haters view of why this game isn't perfect. In fact there are very many negatives, enough to give any other game a much lower score. But what this game does right is so amazing it almost completely negates the negatives, but not quite. Here is what I didn't like:

    1) Controls are very clunky. Clunky controls are to Rockstar games what bugs are to Bethesda games. Every game you hope they improve but they never do

    2) Inventory is very unwieldy. Don't get me wrong I love how they try to make it a bit more realistic by tying some of it to your horse (only for weapons though). But it never seems to remember my preferences of what guns to carry and there is no way to see a list of your inventory. You must cycle through one item at a time and the organization is very poor. Also, it lets you carry way too much for realism. I had an entire store full of items in my satchel most of the time.

    3) Combat difficulty was way too easy. Default auto-aim makes shooting trivial (and turning it off makes horseback shooting nearly impossible so that really isn't an option either). The near infinite supplies of instant-heal tonics/provisions while in battle makes it even more trivial

    4) Money was way too easy to accumulate. Made the "struggling to survive" vibe and dialogue pretty laughable when I had thousands of dollars on me by early mid-game (even after fully upgrading the camp)

    5) No real endgame after you beat the missions. Sure hunting and collecting exists but it would have really benefited from a ranch-building/upgrading mechanic (I think they are planning on adding this in online mode) to give purpose to keep going and earning more money. Despite the amazingness of the world I kind of need a purpose to play on other than creating chaos or goofing around. The money I had at the end was basically infinite so no need to earn more

    6) They don't really let you play an evil character. Sure you can kill innocent randoms but in terms of the missions and story characters you essentially are always this noble good guy. I guess because the SJW's would complain too much if it let you, for instance, not side with the Indians or suffragettes or ex-slaves. It would be refreshing to have the option to side with the army against the Indians for instance. In classic fantasy games you can side with evil factions but, again, the historical context I guess makes it too hard in this SJW world now. Rockstar used to have more balls but even they have cowed to the pressure these days and made being a true jerk impossible

Problems 2, 3, and 4 above could probably be solved with some kind of hardcore mode, where inventory is limited, money is way tighter, heals are limited, and there is an actual death penalty. But there is no hardcore mode. My guess is they are saving that for online (where they hope to make more money with microtransactions probably).

But anyway, these are a lot of problems. But I still highly recommend playing this the world is so realistic it kind of boggles the mind, and the story was very well done as well. The struggling bandit vibe was awesome but would have been better if they made money harder to obtain. And the graphics are the best I've ever seen (on XboxOne X)

The world is so alive in this game. This is truly an open world game worthy of the title. You have agency in this game. You can interact with someone, leave, show up a week or so later and see observable changes in the town because of your interference.

The dialogue is fantastic, the voice acting is fantastic. The shooting is sub par and the inclusion of the bullet time mechanic

The dialogue is fantastic, the voice acting is fantastic. The shooting is sub par and the inclusion of the bullet time mechanic alleviates this somewhat.

It can be slow at times. Very slow. Even as someone who enjoys dialogue and horse riding and beautiful scenery it gets a little old. There's a reason most games skip travel sequences - because they're often not memorable or meaningful.

There's something for everybody in this game. I'd definitely pick it up but I wouldn't trust the 10/10 reviews. It's far from a perfect game.

This is possibly the end of great games. With so many developers going mobile with P2W and buying in to the hype around multiplayer, RD2 takes you on a journey perhaps only the Witcher 2 can take you on XB1. Set aside your incessant need for what other games have. This is Rockstar and once again, they show its good to be King. For those willing to go full on method gamers and immerse themselves in what Rockstar is wanting, the end result is nothing short of amazing. You will find yourself staring out your window while driving imagining stars on a squirrel pelts. You will laugh internally at the banter between characters while waiting in the Subway line. The fact that John Marston was so loved in the initial RD only to be trumped by Arthur Morgan is nothing short of miraculous. The level of detail in one square inch of the map is more than some games can muster in their whole package. Should you desire to race through the story, fine. Even that will have you searching 2019 western Halloween costumes. The substance of gaming has been immersion. It’s marveling at being James Bond in Goldeneye. It’s being ok as a male imagining the fear Lara Croft felt inside the tombs. This has been the secret to success in the gaming world and Rockstar takes that 88 mile an hour fastball and delivers squarely into the seats. This is however a game of patience and perspective. If you operate at the speed of light, this isn’t for you. If you have a collapsed A button because you RESPAWN RESPAWN RESPAWN, don’t do it. But if you ever wondered what it might be like living in the Wild West then there is absolutely nothing out there that will get you closer. Assassins Creed Odyssey was a marvel to look at sailing acoss the sea watching the sun rise. Red Dead makes ACO look last gen in some aspects. In today’s age with gamers getting younger and younger and the progression of gaming steering further and further from immersion, Red Dead 2 cures what ails you. Slick gunplay, astonishing visuals, a moral meter that not only changes gameplay but rewards your efforts for it. Customization beyond any expectations that do more than cosmetically change your character scratch the itch for those needing to change it up depending on the situation. Gun customization that again, does more than just create shine. But deeper than all of that lies a story etched in stone. Yet another cast of characters forever etched in video game lore. And yet another GOTY title lurking on the horizon. Whether this game appeals to your needs or not you owe it to yourself to play a 10/10 title. Don’t be the guy that read reviews about its pace and stayed away. I promise you one thing, spend some time with this game and allow it to consume you. Let it flow through your gaming cortex like you would a COD cash grab and marvel at what Rockstar has done. If not for Rockstar alone, then for the industry itself. You would pay to go see Michael Jordan play for the Bulls if they came to town. You would pay to see Lebron James play front and center near you. Then why would you not pay witness to this years greatest game? There are titles scattered all across the gaming universe that went seemingly untouched but by a few (looking at you Dragons Dogma). Don’t let this be one. The world is full of sheep. Reviewers that put down Fortnite and expect to be chugging Mountain Dew while guns are blazing are not going to be happy. But again, and I mean no disrespect in saying so; comparing something like Fortnite to RD2 would be like comparing a Cadillac to a Kia. This is something more. This is something great. How many times does greatness show itself in today’s age. How many times can you afford to let it pass. You owe it to yourself to be part of something happening now. Stop following the scalp in front of you and take the pass to the left. Sit down, saddle up and blaze hell, or slightly less hell if you choose to do so. I promise you this, if you do not, you will stumble across a review months from now and that feeling? Yeah that’s the one. THAT feeling you get when you know you should have played it but Bobby and Suzy and Mark were too busy building ramps while shooting fireworks at 10 year olds and you just couldn’t pull away because......

Anti Nike that. Don’t do it.

Don’t be the one to miss this game.

Nothing like a Rockstar,. Game, that is.

The side activities are too numerous to list and doing novel activities can take up as much time as the main story . To conclude R* have created in my opinion a masterpiece . Expand

This game was a perfect 10. And then it got twice as good when started playing with headphones. All of those conversations... hunting by sound... map is superb. Scenery is damn pretty. Missions interesting. Animation... Justifies every one of those 70 euros. Cant wait pc release with higher framerate tho.

This is the pinnacle of video game development. Compare the detail, passion, talent, skill, and effort poured into Red Dead Redemption 2 and compare it to other open world AAA games like Fallout 76 and you can see Rockstar is the top dog of open world game developent. A must own title.

Best looking game I have ever played and the most boring game i have ever played. I feel asleep in my chair two times playing this game but after the first 5 hours it takes off. you get used to the controls and find the rhythm of the game. Most games are like playing a movie but this game is like playing a book.

R* has sold over a billion dollars worth of copies and made something truly special here. They made a game that they wanted to play and made design choices that not every gamer will agree with and even the most seasoned will question. Its just refreshing to see a large AAA company not pander to the lowest denominator (because marketing told them to) but instead made a game they want to play with the quality most expect from a R* title.

There is a lot of detail in this game. The NPC schedules for example are fascinating. You can literally follow an NPC around for an entire day cycle and they actually have a life instead of just roaming aimlessly tricking you into thinking they are busy doing stuff only to find out they only go from A to B and then B to A.

At first I felt some frustrations of many as well but it was sort of a fault to my own. The first chapter was amazing but extremely slow with very poor checkpoint placement. Also, getting used to the controls and tweaking them in settings takes time (i play the game with free aim only so its tough). I was excited after the tutorial chapter and got into this habit of rushing early on and it ruined the game for me until I took a step back and allowed myself to get lost in the details.

The amazing view distances and visuals are captivating and you start to get really enveloped. The story is subjectively interesting and the characters are deep. The voice acting and mocap are some of the best in the game industry if not the best.

The clunkiness has always existed in R* titles but since they went for more realism like they did in GTA IV, it definitely has its moments of frustration but you really start to feel that being careless has its consequences like it does in real life. I love it.

If you're more of a casual gamer. Read Dead Online is a free second portion of the game that might be better suited for you. I sure will be playing it with friends and family and can't wait.

    Cheers!

Rockstar has also never been exceptional with fluid believable animations before, and they aren't perfect here either, but they are way way way better than I expected, and totally on par with other AAA games. I never hit any bugs. The story and character progression are thought provoking and heart wrenching at times. The music and sound design are second to none. While there are great big moments, like train heists, that's exactly what I'd expect of a modern video game. They are fun, but what really demonstrates the quality to me is the numerous subtler things: doing realistic chores in camp, surprisingly realistic conversation while playing poker, and careful consideration of what aspects of the game to turn into limited resources (e.g., cargo on your horse, time limit on fresh kills going rotten). Everything sums up to the most immersive game I've played to date. Expand

    Pros:
    Beautiful world
    Great main story
    Good Immersion

    Cons:
You spend a ridiculous amount of time riding your horse from point A to point B.
The horse has no intelligence and will run headfirst into a tree or jump off a cliff to its death.
Game-play mechanics are clunky, especially in gunfights.
Animations for looting, skinning an animal etc take too long.
More often than not there is not enough time to loot enemies without failing your mission.
Weapon load-outs get reset every time you ride your horse.
Your active weapon gets reset every time you interact with an object.
Overly scripted and offers very little choice.
Situational restrictions on character actions break immersion.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Red dead redemption 2 is a great game, being a prequel to the first Red Dead Redemption it had a lot to live up to, which it did. Red Dead Redemption 2 has one of the best story modes I have played in a long time, it introduces the new main character Arthur Morgan who is a member of the Dutch van der lin gang who wants to be an outlaw in a world growing more with civilization. This game introduces features that are great like cleaning your gun and being able to upgrade and customize your horses saddle. There are some features that feel like their there just be there, like how you have to shave every other day if you want to keep a clean face, and how you have to eat to keep your cores replenished. But that’s what rockstar wanted they wanted this game to feel as real as it could be, they make you feel like you are living in 1899, that’s why you have to eat, shave and pull down the hammer or the lever on the gun to shoot again and you have to wait for the your to get center mass again. Another great thing about this game is the acting, the voice acting and physical acting is life like and realistic. They characters have conversations ranging from their personal life’s how they are feeling about other characters and their distrust of Dutch and Micah. This game also in its cutscene uses elements that directors of films use. It uses a lot of non diegetic sound which sound the audience can hear but not the characters in the game. It also uses light in a perfect way, in the end of the game when Arthur sends John away to be with his family Arthur gets in a fight with Micah, Arthur loses this fight and as he is sitting on the ground as he dies he looks off into the distance, and sees the sun rise, it kinda acts of symbol of Arthur hopes for John raises as he dies, this let’s Arthur die happy because he feels like in all of his life he has done bad, he thinks this time he has done something good. The closing statement I have about this game is that is amazing but not perfect it offers new and fun features but also some ones that feel like they could’ve been left out. The game suffers from repetitive missions which usually end up in a shoot out, riding your horse long distances just to start missions that end up making you leave on your horse. I still think that this game has a potential to be one of the best games of 2018 if not the best. Expand

I don't understand these low ratings these days, the internet became very toxic. A lot of reviews are put down here on purpose to lower the user score. That is really sad. The game is not overrated, because.... let's be serious... it doesn't get any better than this. The graphics, the music, the characters, all the things you can do... it's almost unlimited in possibilities! THIS is what gaming is about. Rockstar raised the bar... it's simpel as that.

And to be honest, RDR2's locations never give you that awe. And before you say it's a game it's not the same, well many games have accomplished it, so this is not an excuse.

Luckily, the writing is simply excellent. But even then, the quests never feel like a big deal, but that's not such a problem. I wish I had a bit more guidance in what i am supposed to do next but then, the writing more than makes up for that particular problem.

As much as i hate saying this, I must admit RDR2 is way too overrated. it's clearly an excellent game but a new Witcher 3 this isn't.

The creation of Red Dead Redemption 2 is a marvel of physical beauty, astonishingly true humanistic creativity and technical prowess I don't think we've EVER seen in a video game before...

And I hope we never do again.

There will be no doubt others that are going to do justice to graphical fidelity or how well the framerate works (or doesn't), or how well unique things like combat mechanics work, I want to focus on the one thing that makes this game unplayable: The purpose.

This is a game about playing a human life, and it has no place in Video Games ever.

Rockstar is one of the most intuitive minded developers on the planet creating full worlds filled to the brim with things to do or places to see, even relationships to build (or destroy). RDR2 takes this so close to actual human life here that they quite literally flew too close to the sun and fell to the earth. And that is something not necessary in games, where the illusion of 'not-reality' takes precedent.

There is just an absurd amount of interdependent mechanics to be found here that if you were to utilize them all, you might never leave. It becomes unnerving when personal hygiene can ruin a hunt (because you smell, bad) that eating (well or poorly) will affect your overall ability to survive, things like washing your horse can play a factor. And these are but a handful of things that ultimately make this game something akin to the Uncanny Valley and it's uncomfortable.

As I wrote above, ever since CD Projekt Red's Witcher 3, there's been this unspoken charge to one-up it. Sometimes it misses the mark (Oh Hai AC Oddesy), other times they get damn close, but end up making something of their own (Horizon: Zero Dawn), RDR2 took it beyond that and is what ruined the game. It took it to "Ludicrous Speed" and lost itself because of it. It's a true marvel of video game development, and if you can get yourself past this you'll mine it for perhaps a life-changing experience, but I think because of how far Rocksteady took it, most will bypass it and never want to see it's ilk ever again.

Still, if you DO want to play it on a console and want the absolute best experience (both in game and graphics), the Xbox One X is the best experience followed by the PS4 Pro and then both the original ps4 and finally the base Xbox One. I think though; this is a bridge too far.

By that, I don't mean that you should review the game based on your first impressions. If so, then you don't know how to review a game. Period. Second of all, the majority did not know that one can customize their controls based on their play-style: It could include adjustments in sensibility, button mapping, camera angle, first-person mode adjustments, etc. Always go to the settings before starting the actual game and adjust your controls. Experiment what's best, thus, making the game more fluid, and less bad reviews would appear because they actually read this comment. What I'm trying to say is that one has to solve their own issue with the game, or something that it might throw off their desire of continuing playing Red Dead Redemption 2. If it's something that's based on controls, which is what most of the bad reviews were concerned about, then solve it first in-game before criticizing stuff that doesn't make sense. That goes for the people who doesn't know how to actually play a game. It's disappointing seeing the majority like that.

Now, I'm my opinion, this game has solid graphics, fixed cinematics, enjoyable gameplay and can't wait for the online beta. That's all. Simple.

All of this doesn't matter however when the controls are equally horrible. The character actions are not smooth like pretty much any game out there and definitely not as smooth as AC odyssey. This ruins the immersion of this beautiful game. Much of the time you will feel frustrated because of the clunkyness of the controls especially during action scenes. It's almost like you feel disconnected from the avatar. The Avatar is also slow as in it's like playing a 70 year old man. Because Rockstar can't seem to get it together with controls and clunkyness of their game's characters so this will not be fixed anytime soon if ever. What's worse is they don't allow the player to fully customize the controls themselves and reassign the buttons. Deadeye requires to push both sticks in but the problem is you could find yourself crouching as well because the left stick pushed in is also the crouch... The movement stick is good for walking forward but not running because you have to push a button for that... the LB is used for taking out your gun but it's also used for inventory wheel so you can accidentally pull out your gun on people.. the whole scheme is just horrible and I quit playing after 40 hours. Also your Avatar grows hair faster than Big Foot and it seems the overall time in the game could be slowed down by double of what it is. I tried fishing, hunting, robbing some of the wonderful story line and is great but I just got tired of the BS controls ripping me out of the immersion and went back to AC odyssey that is actually fun to play. I think rock star really messed this up and it's sad. It would have rated this a 9 but the controls are what we use to interact with the game and should be considered the foundation of the user end experience not an after thought. It would be like getting a Lamborghini and finding out the brake peddle is for the dome light, the steering wheel controls the mirrors and so on... still an amazing car but... Expand

This game is visually amazing. I love how you can feel the change in environment as you travel the large open world of Red Dead. It focuses a lot on attention to detail, this may make things take a little longer to do but that just makes things feel more immersive and realistic. I’ve really enjoyed this game so far and can’t wait for the online.

I love a good story and Red Dead Redemption 2 delivers in all areas here keeping things interesting and exciting at all times. There’s a ton of content for you to get to grips with and you will definitely not be getting bored anytime soon because the content has tons of variety as well. I really enjoyed the world in which the game takes place in because the detail is off the charts and traversing around the nooks and crannies always feels rewarding. Each different mechanic that’s present in the game has been done to perfection and the best thing is that they all feel important and combine together extremely well. There’s plenty of progression to be made in a number of key areas and the way you’re able to interact with NPC’s is very clever and creative to say the least. It does take a while for the game to get going at the start. Overall Red Dead Redemption was a masterpiece in my opinion and without a doubt it was my favorite game that Rockstar had ever done. The reason I say was is because Red Dead Redemption 2 is now my favourite Rockstar game of all time and to say it reached my huge expectations and then some would be a massive understatement. My excitement levels for this game were simply off the charts and after only a few hours with this game it became quite clear that a lot of love and effort has gone into all areas. Visually the game looks superb and when you combine that with the stunning and very immersive sound design you end up experiencing an adventure and story like no other. If that wasn’t enough then you also get mechanics and gameplay that are compelling at all times and you won’t be getting bored anytime soon either because there’s more than enough varied content here to keep you satisfied for a while. In terms of problems the game basically doesn’t have any and apart from a slow start you won’t find any issues within the fantastic world in which the game takes place in. At the end of the day then I can’t recommend Red Dead Redemption 2 enough because it’s took what was good from the first game and improved it while also adding its own unique features, and when it’s all said and done I can definitely see this game ending up being game of the year for 2018, with Tomb Raider coming in 2nd. Sit down and expect to immerse yourself in a world that's not a battle royale or team deathmatch (although I'm sure they're coming). The detail in this game is beyond impressive, and the landscape itself is absolutely breathtaking. I will agree it takes a bit to get going, but it's mostly just the intro tutorial, which I'd still prefer over most any other tutorial I've played through. The story is amazing as well. Arthur is a very compelling character, who I would put on a pedestal in the gaming world next to characters such as Master Chief and Lara Croft. I loved playing as him, more than I enjoyed playing as John in the first RDR. Overall, I had a blast playing through this game. I can't wait for online to release. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Most people would talk about the performance, sounds, gameplay, graphics. Those are all very well done and the world is beautiful and lively. But I want to talk about the story the narrative. The thing made me feel in love, but also broke my heart. You play Arthur Morgan, a 36 year old outlaw, member or the Van Der Linde gang. The story draws you in quickly with the emotions, the connections everyone has. You feel like they are a real family. Arthur, Dutch, Hosea, Sadie, Lenny, Hosea, Javier, Ms.Grimshaw, Karen, Pearson, Abigail, Jack, John, Swanson, and Micah. They all are a big part of the gang what one doesn't do another can. But I want to talk about Micah, the secret antagonist, from the start and to the end he is a jerk to Arthur. By the end you find out Micah is a rat and has been telling agent Milton everything. You also find out around chapter four or five that Author has tuberculous a disease that back then was most certainty a death sentence. So after hours upon hours you find out all you have been trying to do will be for nothing. Micah feeding Dutch lies driving him insane even more than he already is, You dying quickly and painfully, members of the gang dying, Late in the story Dutch leaves you to die. You manage to escape by Eagle Flies a character you meet saving you barley, but also losing his own life in the process. By the end John and Author have fixed their friendship, as it was rocky the whole game. But you are given a choice at one point to help John escape or go for the money. I helped John escape but after he gets away and you kill groups of Pinkertons that are after you Micah the rat, piece of garbage, filth, jumps on you from above and you get into a fist fight that ends with you being on the verge of death from being beat and the TB you were diagnosed with. You crawl towards one of Micah's guns that was thrown in the fight, but as you grab it Dutch shows and stops you. This is where you choices and how you played come in. If you played like an outlaw after some words, and pleading Dutch lets Micah shoot you in the head and kill you. The ending I got though was the honorable ending. Almost all the same happens except that Dutch ends up leaving and Micah does too because you are about to die anyway. You crawl with the last bit of energy you have and watch the sunrise as you begin to breath you last breaths and a sad song plays. Author passes away sadly. It broke my heart. A character I came to love like my own brother dies in front of me. I feel like I just lost a member of my family. Then the epilogue starts, The very long epilogue. You play as John a few years later trying to live a normal life. it sets up and lets you know how he got his ranch while tying up some lose ends left. By the end of it John marries Abigail, as built the ranch up with the help of Uncle, Sadie, and Charles (Another member of the gang I didn't list). But their was one last thing. Micah is still alive, you spend the very last mission with John, Charles, and Sadie going into the mountains to kill Micah and end everything. When you get there Charles gets shot, Sadie stabbed, and you as John the last one able to really keep going. You reach Micah, have a small shootout, but Sadie ends up stopping that but as you and Sadie both have guns pointed at Micah, Dutch comes out of the building, you have a small standoff where Dutch surprisingly shoots Micah in the stomach and you go into dead eye and get to shoot him as well, I personally put all 6 of my bullets into is head, one for Author, one of Mary, one for Lenny, one for Sean, one for Kirrean, and one of Hosea. With that their is a little more cutscene. Then you go home and the credits role then everything that has happened sets in and if you have any sort of emotion it feels good but hurts at the same time. As the credits role little scenes play letting you know were everyone who is still alive is, and also sets up the story for the first game. After putting well over 60 hours into this masterpiece of a game I want to thank Rockstar and everyone there for making it. I has quickly became my favorite game ever. 10 out of 10. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay, so this game is just fantastic. I came in almost completely blind as I had barely seen any content within the game, along with the fact that I never played the first RDR. From what I had seen, however, I felt as if this would be a sort of "Western-style GTA." Once I got into it I realized that I was partly right, but there was so much more than just a different theme. The beginning wasn't too much of a bother as I am used to being patient with a game. On the other hand, I did enjoy being in the snow and navigating through the blizzard. I also liked the first train robbery a lot because, in GTA V, the trains were sort of just there, and I enjoy being able to do something with them now, especially with a good old-fashioned steam locomotive. I would talk more about the story, but I think I've said enough about that.

I think one of the next best things would be the map and the scenery. The map is great. There's so much space for exploring and riding around with your horse, and standing on a tall hill, viewing the vast, detailed landscape all around is breathtaking, even on an Xbox One S. I love seeing the huge lightning bolts striking the ground with the huge roar of the thunder, especially when using headphones with Dolby Atmos.

Overall, I think this is a great example of what a AAA title with years of work should look like. Even the overall ratings of this game show that it's worth the $60. I do agree with some users that they should make a PC-version as many people invest a good amount of money in a high-performance gaming computer (I even have an Alienware Aurora R7), but I think that they shouldn't rush it so the PC community can get the same great experience as the one on consoles. I'm extremely excited to see how Red Dead Online works out and how Rockstar will handle it with future updates and gameplay content. I can actually say that this turned out very well compared to other games stuck in development for around 8 years gaining a lot of hype near the release.

Definitely a 10, Great Job Rockstar!

Red Dead Redemption 2 is possibly one of the best games of this generation. From the captivating story line and intriguing characters to endless extras such as random encounters, mini games etc. This game has so much to offer and looks incredibly stunning.

The game can be quite slow at some parts, but in a game that's all about story and character development, it doesn't hinder the experience in any way. From my time playing, the only thing that does get a little tedious and repetitive is the sheer amount of collectable strands, and the time you have to commit to complete said strands. Whilst the collectables are quite varied, it's still not exactly fun the longer you're doing it but that's the only negative thing I have to say, and that alone isn't worth dropping a point over.

Even though the game world is significantly smaller than Rockstar's latest release, GTA V, it doesn't feel like it because you're not driving around in 200mph hyper cars. However, this does mean that the world is incredibly detailed and you can find yourself just exploring for hours finding all kinds of interesting and strange things. This could be discovering houses containing interesting secrets, the skeletal remains of some creatures that lived long ago or simply just running into other NPC's out in the country with some of the hilarious random encounters. There are also, as with any Rockstar game, a ton of Easter Eggs for you to discover.

Overall, I'd absolutely recommend this game to anyone, even if you haven't played the first Red Dead Redemption. This 2nd instalment is a prequel after all, so I'd recommend you play the first game after this one. That is of course if you are interested in the story. It is a true masterpiece of this generation and with the introduction of Red Dead Online soon, it can only get better.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an exceptional example of modern video game design, but it is also far from the infallible masterpiece many claim it to be. Several nagging issues detract from what is otherwise a great game.

To start, I want to say that this game has a target audience. Rockstar has not tried to "cast the widest net" with RDR2. If you find much of your gaming time filled with fast-paced, hectic, reflex-based games like CoD, Battlefield, PUBG, Fortnite, Assassin's Creed, Fallout, Spider-Man, God of War, or Overwatch, then it is unlikely that you will find much enjoyment in RDR2. Likewise, if you think the game will be "GTA V, But Cowboys" then you are in for a quite disappointing revelation. The gameplay is slow, weighty, and methodical. It will take you a *minimum* of 10 minutes to cross from one side of the map to the other. There is no easily accessible fast-travel mechanic. If your preferred gameplay is "press A to attack, press B to block" simplicity and zero-gravity, weightless characters that walk faster than Usain Bolt sprints, you are better off spending your money elsewhere.

With that out of the way, I'll do my best to dig into what RDR2 is at its core. You can't merely categorize this game as a third-person shooter, an adventure, an RPG, or even simply an action game. It's not even necessarily a mix of those genres, but a unique beast. Personally, I consider the game to be a "Narrative Driven Sandbox" of sorts. The story is undoubtedly paramount and always present, but it isn't something that bars your path to content. While story progress does unlock new items and weapons, you can also find these same items in the world through side-quests and exploration. The majority of the map is entirely open for you to explore as soon as you finish the scripted intro sequence, minus a few areas (more on that later).

The gameplay itself is, for the most part, satisfying and enjoyable. Gunplay is heavy and punchy, with a focus on realism (Pull RT once to fire, Pull RT again to cock the hammer, repeat) that blends into the action fairly seamlessly. Arthur feels like he has some weight to him as he moves, like a human being walking across a room rather than a figure skater gliding on ice.

Visually, the game is stunning, even on my OG launch Xbox One. Every aspect from the wind blowing through the grass on the prairie to snow drifts being broken up as a horse passes through is well designed and executed. Facial animations are some of the best I've seen in recent years. And all of this graphical beauty has little effect on performance. Aside from a few cutscenes and more "urban" areas, my framerate held constant with only minor dips in the aforementioned circumstances.

Unfortunately, the game struggles in most other departments. For me, the pacing was the biggest issue. The game's opening is *agonizingly* slow paced. It feels like a chore to get through the first quarter of the game. From there, things pick up nicely, and the pace is almost on the verge of being "good" through the midgame. Unfortunately, as the game reaches its final few acts, the story's pace slows to a dragging crawl once again. By the last few missions, I found myself simply rushing through, asking myself "So, this is the last one right? It feels like the last one." only to be surprised (dismayed?) at the new yellow quest marker appearing on my map. The Epilogue was no better, equally slow and poorly paced. While the writing itself was quite good, it was irreparably hurt by the weak story direction and drag-on chapters.

The game's AI is also severely lackluster. While it is better than GTA V's to a degree, you will always have the upper hand in any conflict. Enemies rarely seek cover, rifle-wielding bandits/lawmen charge into close range instead of taking distance shots, and they will often shoot at your cover until their weapons run dry, giving you ample time to peek out and dispatch them at your leisure. Pedestrian AI is equally poor, mainly the AI responsible for wagons and horsemen. I can't count the times I've been thrown from my hose due to an NPC veering in front of me as I was about to pass by.

And lastly, the endgame is very disappointing as well. Without spoiling too much, after the story you are still permitted to roam the map and do side quests, with a few changes. I don't care for these changes, but that's just preference. The problem is that the previously inaccessible portion of the map is now "unlocked" to explore. Unfortunately, it's pretty much empty. There is quite literally nothing to do. Perhaps this will be fleshed out with Red Dead Online, but right now it's simply a waste of map and Hard Drive space.

And that's RDR2 for you. Despite these flaws, it is still worth a playthrough if it sounds like your cup of tea. A good game, and one I certainly recommend, but far from a perfect game and indeed no masterpiece. My rating would be 7.6/10 (rounded to 8 due to site limitations)

I agree with a lot of people who say this game is clunky because it does use Rockstar's typical clunky control scheme, something I was personally hoping they wouldn't have. But I have to say that the game itself more than makes up for this. I'm constantly in awe of the game in terms of visuals and opportunities. Rockstar did such an utterly fantastic job on making this game feel truly alive and deep

I see a lot of complaints about the slow pace of this game and I feel obligated to say if you only like straightforward shallow games with little complexity and a fast pace, this game isn't for you. RDR2 is a game that is enjoyed best by fans of open world games with a plethora of interesting activities to occupy your time with. In my opinion its the little things that count and really get you immersed. The pace is slow but realistically so, its more immersive and realistic than most games and means that there isn't as much action.

To set the stage, I am not a fan of Rockstar Games. What I mean by this is that my impression of the game is not influenced unfairly positively because of my view of the company as a whole. They have made games that I enjoy (RDR1, GTAV, Bully) as well as games I did not enjoy so much (GTAIV, Rockstar Table Tennis.) With that being said, I'd like to jump into my review of RDR2.
The first presentation of the game is stunning, wasting no time in immersing you in a detailed setting of the year 1889. This world feels almost tangible with its level of detail in it's sky-box, weather, and the characters within. The game is not without graphical glitches, but nothing I found as game breaking. The story does well to explain Arthur Morgan's (your player character) and gang's current situation without feeling unnecessarily expository. Once you have had the opportunity to watch the opening cinematic and finally jump into controlling the game, the immersion is not broken. In controlling Arthur, you can feel his surroundings in the way he moves through them and interacts.

This, then, brings us to the controls of the game. The controls seem quite responsive though a bit sluggish and clunky at times. I had thought that this might be due the weather and environment of the prologue mission. However, even well after leaving this area, I occasionally would still experience this same issue. It is not overwhelming when it occurs but it can leave you frustrated as you choke an innocent bystander rather than mounting your horse right next to said bystander.

I'd like to use this as a chance to segue into the next major topic, the honor system and fine details of your player character. While Arthur has an established history, the game gives you ample choice in what kind of man "your" Arthur Morgan is. I can tell that a ton of TLC went into this character and his systems. You can be a man of high honor and upstanding morals or the dirtiest of outlaw scum. This will, of course, also determine the ending you receive upon the completion of the game. Even during the duration of the game, NPC's will treat you differently based on your honor or even recent events. Arthur also has a plethora of customization and stats to help make him your own. He can gain or lose weight, both of which have certain benefits and detriments. Visual customization such as hair and beard style add a visual touch further differentiating one player from another, though, you will have to grow your hair and beard out for certain styles. Hats and clothing can be bought and worn as well.

In terms of sound, musically, this game does well to sink you into the ambient feel of the "wild west." More of the music seems to be ambiance aiming to immerse you further into the game, but there are certainly some stand out, dramatic, tracks to be enjoyed. The ambient noise seems to match you surroundings from the noises of nature while out in the wilderness to the idle chat of NPCs while riding through town. The voice acting of the NPCs are great and the conversations can range from somber and serious, to outlandish and ridiculous. Your posse's voice actors are splendid. The conversation seldom feels forced and never feels out of place. The detail is exquisite. If you are speaking to a character as they walk away, Arthur will begin to raise his voice to ensure they can still hear. The same is true for characters walking closer. They will go from shouting to a normal volume for conversation. If you have an event interrupt your conversation with someone, after the interruption has passed, the character's will apologize for the disturbance and get the conversation back on track.

This game is beautiful and does well on improving the original RDR formulas. In many areas. The "dead eye" aiming system is back as well as fun features such as the lasso. Horse riding has been improved to offer a more versatile system. Horses are all different. Some are large and slow, others are fast and small. Some are balanced. Taking care of the horse also effects it's performance. There is an area that I do not believe to be so improved though, the weapon menus. When opening the menu, a wheel comes up and time slows (but does not stop). One space may have multiple items which can be navigated by pulling RT or LT. I often found myself having to cycle though multiple slots to find the one item I needed.

In summary, while this game is not perfect, it's darn close. I believe this game to be on par with other such masterpieces as GTAV and The Witcher 3. It has it's flaws but I think buyers will certainly be getting there money's worth as it is now for all edition's of this game. Even more so when the online beta hits later in November of 2018. If you are a fan of open worlds, good characters, great stories, and solid game play, this game should not escape your radar!

Rockstar still stands as a developer who you always want to get games from as they will always release high quality games at every turn. The game looks great but after 20 hours of gameplay I'm done. Everything about this game feels tedious with the same RS clunky controls they've been using since GTA3. This game is great if you were looking for a solid hunting simulator but it's incredibly low on fun and action.

I would like to appeal to all tochechnym PC players have a buyout so bombed that they are trying to degrade the scores of the game: I want to say that all of you are a bunch of idiots after all, if the game was released on your pathetic platform you'd all put her 10/10

Played around 30 hours really enjoying the game I wanted to give it a 9.5 out of 10 but it doesn't allow you to do that and only due to it's clunky controls but other than that this game looks brilliant especially at 4K can't wait to put another 30 hours into it.......

This game is beautiful, organized, and offers amazing storytelling. It’s also boring, clunky and overrated.

Unquestionably 2018's best game, and an all-time open-world masterpiece. [Christmas 2018, p.89]

It doesn’t matter if you are gamer, a human being, or an alien from another planet; Red Dead Redemption 2 is a title that you just can’t miss. The bar set by RDR2 is so high that even Rockstar itself will probably have a hard time raising it. One of the best releases in the history of digital entertainment.

While it has some notable but minor flaws, it's hard to argue that Red Dead Redemption 2 is not a masterpiece. The end result of the meticulous detail, wonderful writing and stunning looks is an open world that sets a new bar for believability, and a time and place I can't stop thinking about or wanting to be a part of.
