Significantly improves on the issues that were wrong with the original.
The game before definitive edition felt like an early access gamecube / playstaion 2 game.
Now that the definitive edition is out. It feels and plays like a game from that era without the early access feel.
Good for people who liked games like Megaman legends.

I just tried out the demo and loved it. I like this games concept. Graphics are also very good. Love the robots. Nice special effects as well. Very well done and I fully recommend ReCore

I have never tried the non definitive version of this game, But have been playing this on my xbox one X, and i must say this game deserves a bit more praise. it looks and plays amazing, dont know what some of the poor reviews on going on about, but then again i am playing it on a one X. Love the concept of the game, It has a bit of a metroid prime feel, which is awesome.

Jogo muito bom, quando começa a jogar fica viciante! O sistema de combate é muito gratificante e a dificuldade é no ponto certo!

It's hard not compare this game to Horizon Zero Dawn, given the superficial resemblances between each game's personable protagonists and their foes, the engrossing storylines and affecting soundtracks, and the manner of exploration employed. Although quite different if you scratch a bit deeper, ReCore is just as enjoyable and rewarding as HZD. All it lacks is bit of spit and polish to match HZD's outstanding quality. For example:

    • sometimes, when extracting a core, you can see beneath the ground
    • here and there, there are straight white lines in the environment where the polygons don't quite meet
    • at one point, my gun stopped working altogether and needed a restart to fix it (although I managed to defeat the enemy Corebots by dodging and dashing and commanding my companion Corebots, which was gratifying)
    • autosave, though mainly excellent, can occasionally be a bit arbitrary, meaning you respawn either in the midst of a bunch of invulnerable skull Corebots or absolutely miles away from where you want to be.

It does surpass HZD in one department, however: where HZD is crazily easy even on its hardest setting (except the Frozen Wilds training ground), ReCore offers a decent (but by no means impossible) challenge, especially in the Dark Tower, which gives you a better sense of achievement when you meet it.

ReCore also has a wide variety of dungeon challenges and having to return to them to complete them after upgrading your equipment or crew is never a chore. Being able to swap cores between frames is really neat and helps a lot in levelling up your companions. Its inventory management is ok – somewhere nearer to Nier: Automata's chipset experimentation than HZD's rudimentary crafting. It's fun when you have the items you need and disappointing (in a good way, because you're invested) when you don't and the focus shifts from extracting cores to needing to go out and get more stuff by killing Corebots. The grind is actually pretty enjoyable, as it is with HZD and N:A.

Both of those games offer great value for money, even at full price (and they're often on offer) but the payback from ReCore is just stupendous. I don't understand why it's so cheap but I guess it has something to do with Sony's dominance over Microsoft in the exclusive titles battle. There's so much to do in ReCore, and so much in it that is sheer joy, that, despite comparing very favourably with HZD and N:A, I think it's just a cracking game in its own right.

All robot companions (corebots) are varied and fun to use, especially because of their unique abilities. The difficulty shouldn't be a challenge for the expert players, but it can become quite hard in a few occasions. The simplistic combat system is fun, but ultimately becomes repetitive for its lack of depth.

ReCore: Definitive Edition is an ambitious game with elements worthy of a great platforming game, with these being its strongest attributes. It is definitely a game that should be played by a lot more players.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Nothing spectacular, but has a very interesting idea and is well executed. Character is interesting, the robots are each unique, the score is good, and I really had fun exploring and learning about this universe.

There could be more to do though. It acts like an open world game but there is very little reward for actually exploring. Some cool stuff to

If the definitive version of this game dropped as a Switch exclusive it would have gotten 9s and 10s from reviewers. It has all the elements of a highly reviewed Nintendo game: a great platformer, imaginative world, fun cast, and a lackluster story. Yes I said that, Breath of the Wild is one of the highest rated games of all time and it has a mostly empty world and a story told through a photo challenge. Nintendo games are beloved for their gameplay and fun factor not graphically fidelity and story. Recore is a game made by the makers of metroid prime and it has both solid gameplay and the fun factor, it just dropped on the wrong console.

No one expected a Nintendo game to drop as an Xbox exclusive and yet here we are. Honestly I love that this game exists it is so different for the Xbox ecosystem, I wish we had gotten a proper sequel, because the world really interested me.

    My positives:
    - fun story
    - excellent world and world building
    - hard and rewarding platforming
    - super fun combat system that is deceptively deep and occasionally punishing - great art style
    - tons of cool party customization My negatives
    - a few unfair dungeons
    - only being able to take two robots out at a time limits exploration in an attempt to create artificial replay ability. This mechanic sets the game back for me pretty far (from a 9 to a 8)
    - item drop rng feels grindy.

Overall an amazing game that would have reviewed better on a Nintendo console not claiming media bias, just the consoles create different expectations, this would have become a classic on the switch or wii. Give it a try on gamepass!

What I really like about this game is story, and the way its is moulded into this remote, open world that has been over run with robots. You play a a young lady called Joule, who wakes from cryosleep, only to find not only her father missing, but almost every human in the vicinity. All she have is her HQ, her doggy corebot, an exoskeletal armour and a trusty gun. As you head out into the vast desert landscape, you discover dungeons and caves, and lots of loot. Plus there are a whole host of enemies and bosses to contend with, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. You also come across a variety of corebots who aid you in the fighting and discovery of new locations and items. The upgrade system is easy and straightforward, The graphics do seem a little on the side of Xbox 360 territory sometimes, but are mostly nice (especially on some of the dungeon and sand dune areas). The onyl thing that was kind of cheesy was Joules facial animations/textures, and the recurring music that plays when you are battling enemies. Otherwise, this Metroid-inspired adventure is fun to play, and awesome to look at, and has a story that is worthy of a film. Expand

Half the price it originally was, but now twice as good – this third person take on Metroid Prime has been remastered into the game it always should have been.
