The gameplay is bad and horribly unbalanced. Enemies swarm your character and use a variety of moves that are almost impossible to avoid. Gameplay was problematic until the 2nd half when I unlocked overpowered abilities for my robots that turned the game into faceroll. Just badly designed. A lot of the dungeons are based on frustrating platforming sections that are also timed. Not my personal idea of fun. Mission structure is also haphazardly implemented. You go to maybe half a dozen main story dungeons and then go through a 5 level platforming exercise for the last dungeon. The game is pretty short overall.
The world is quite bland. It's just more desert with giant mechanical ruins sticking out of it. Part of the joy of the Metroid Prime games was the various alien settings filled with different flora and fauna. There's none of that here. Story is fairly awful. Think the most mediocre and trite science fiction of the year storylines. Game also crashed more frequently as it went on, including one time when it completely crashed my Xbox X forcing a reboot.
A personal peeve of mine is that they have these portals that return you to the start of the dungeon that look like fast travel points. So after completing a difficult platforming section, I clicked on one thinking it would save my position, and it returned me back to the beginning. I almost quit the game right there. Looking back, quitting would have been the right move. After finishing the game, I'm disappointed that I could have been playing something much better. I recommend avoiding. There's not a single thing here that you really need to see.… Expand
