Quantum Break is a letdown in too many areas. Though the gun-play is solid and the Time powers are fun to mess around with, everything else falls flat on its face. The story is boring, the characters are boring, and none of your choices affect the story in a meaningful way. Don't buy this pile of sh*t, buy Halo MCC or Sunset Overdrive, but not this.

The game is very good, but for a specific audience, ie not please everyone. Overall it's a good game with an interesting story, but nothing groundbreaking.

The easiest way to describe this game is to just it's basically one giant gimmick. Nothing particularly memorable. Quantum Break is the latest game to fall victim to the hype train surrounding new releases. It also has almost no replay value which is sad considering how much time they had to create this game.

Disappointed that they gave so much importance to time gimmicks and lengthy live action episodes. The characters and plot are forgettable for the most part. The gunplay and cover system can be quite cumbersome at some points.

Summarising this game I'd use the word mediocre. You spend about a third of the time doing the standard console actiongame slow walk looking at things and talking, a third watching live action cutscenes and a third using some powers and shooting the same 5 or so different enemies the entire game. The Powers you have are cool but are pretty similar to eachother and the action turns bland pretty fast. You do have some choices to make but none of them matter in the end. Add to that the bland and boring gameplay and the ridiculous amount of time wasting walking slowly and rewatch unskippable cutscenes if you die, a replay is out of the question.
If you really want to see the cutscenes from the other choice you are better off watching it on youtube than playing through this game again.
The story is not bad but it's pretty "meh".
As for any good words about this game all I can say is the game does have some nice lighting and it looks pretty good despite an upscaled 720p, it lacks some of the nicer reflections and shadowquality of the pc version but otherwise a pretty good looking game. The motionblur is less prevalent compared to pc because you sit further away from the screen. The acting/voice acting is top notch.
I gave this version 1 point more than the pc version as it is running as expected on console. It is optimised for the console and you can't fault it for not running at higher frames and resolution considering the crappy hardware in the console.
Still it's definately not a buy imo at full price, wait for a sale, used copy or "free" with games with gold.

So much that I sort of felt like I was forcing myself to play it just because I had this glimmer of hope that it might unleash the big guns and make me say "Damn Remedy, good job!" Disappointing.......I thought this would be, maybe unfairly, the successor to max Payne.......... nope, not even close.....

    -controls feel loose and disjointed...
-guns lack impact and just are no fun to use
-slow Mo mechanic is not as fun as I thought........ max Payne series.... even 3.....are way better

Buyer beware....... do not think its next-generation max Payne.....

So what is left of Quantum Break if you take away all the cool visual effects, and the player's ability to control time ? a bad third person shooter? a wast of production money? no , it's a big sign of disappointment from all the players who bought this overhyped game. I like the innovation between it being a video game and TV show, but that's practically the only thing I like about it.

The acting is okay, but it seem's like they're trying to hard. The gameplay is nothing special, more generic than unique. Very repetitive mission's structure, and only two outcomes at the end of those missions.

Its the worst Remedy game ever. I`m hudge Remedy fan , but this game has killed me. From the positive side :
    - Insanely beautifull grafics. Emotions , face animation , lipsync - top notch.

    - Music is very stylish and to the point. I especially respect Remedy for very creative sound effect and music choice.
    From negative side :
    - Plot is overcomplex and you need to read gazillions of emails and other narrative stuff to stay up to date.
    - Fight scenes are chaotic and always go by the same scenario : you are running like a blind scared horse, randomly around the room, throwing left and right force fields and shoot them , hoping they will kill somebody. Everything happens very quickly and most of the time you have no time to plan the fight.
    - Abilities are strange and sometimes redundant. I was not able to figure out why you need the shield , if you have the force field that does the same , plus concentrate bullets and explodes with killing effect.
    - Controls are glitchy: time jump only works when you directly press forward and left shoulder button. If your analogue stick does not point DIRECTLY forward, ability does not trigger. This produces hudge amount of fails and you stop to use this ability unless you have to.
    - Pretty strange and not clear system of RPG-like skill improvement. You have to search for some "mist"-like clouds that are called quant-something and are randomly located over random sections of the game, and they are currency to buy upgrades.
    - You have to spam Y to be in your Time Vision all the time , in order to have the idea what is where . It is even worse then Assassins Creed or Tomb Raider.
    - To reveal the plot completely, you need to watch like 2 hours of video that you have to stream additionally form Internet. Holy God, this is over limits ! These movies are supposed to be you reward for completing the chapter, but they are very amature directed , even more amature shot and actors are kinda "yet another random man on the bus stop i see every day"-type.
    - Being on chapter 2 and talking with NPC taxi guy , i realised , that i forgot why and where we are going and what we want to achieve... Thats how bad the immersion is.
I just cant rate Remedy red , cause they are one of my favourite game making companies, thats why i give five.
But honestly, this game deserves no more than 2 and has to be re-done from combat controls , narrative pace , presentation layer perspectives.

Replay-ability is missing, which for a short game is disappointing, unless you fancy making different choices that is.

Its an average game combined with a less than average TV show. The casting did result in some decent enough performances in the live actions sections. However, i couldn't tell whether the writing was just too poor to work with, or Aiden Gillen is far from the actor I had been led to believe.

All of those great exaggerated physics seen in Max Payne 2 were replaced with scripted death animations. You're forced to use a sloppy auto-cover mechanics. The time manipulation mechanics (Briefly freeze time in a small an area, bubble shield, dash, and Assassin's Creed esque vision mode) are less satisfying than Max Payne's bullet time in 2001. When doing a story driven narrative you have to mix up the story with something to keep players hooked. I found the story to be basic. I found I couldn’t connect with any of the characters. I found the switching from game play to basically a TV show to drag the game down to a crawl. The action sequences were great, but when they throw more story at you than these sequences the gameplay becomes like trying to wade through frozen molasses. A story driven narrative that tries to have action for its game play NEEDS to balance the story and action. This game falls flat of any semblance of that balance. I've been a gamer for 30 of my 39 years, and starting with Chrono Trigger on SNES I've leaned highly towards a game with a story even if the gameplay suffers, IE the turn based RPG style. But even those keep you on your toes with random encounters. This game would have made a great movie, or even a decent visual novel style game. Quantum Break is an incredible game that will hook you for its ten hour duration and stay with you long after that. The story is packed with mystery, suspense, and engaging characters caught in a high stakes situation where every decision is significant. While adding TV show may not have revolutionized storytelling, Quantum Break is a must play game for those looking to sink their teeth into a meaningful adventure.
