The DLC model takes more than one sentence to explain, but in the end, with everything obtainable for $0, if desired, it is difficult to imagine a more fair system which would also allow for ongoing development. With the development team staying on board to continue producing more features, content, and general improvements, it is fair to say that the launch is just the beginning, and not the end, of Project Spark. Love it. Love IT. I don't care if there are micro-transactions, because I don't plan on buying any so I'm not going to get my you know what in a knot over them. Is the game perfect? I think Project Spark has goergous visuals, nice interface, lots of cool options, and is really a great platform to make games in no time at all. I just did a 2D Sidescroller level by simply using the world wizard ( now simply called create) and playing with different options. That was highly demanded as an option since some time ago. In this latest release, Team Dakota crammed up some niceties and requested features like draw distance granular setting on both XB1 and PC platform.

I can also confirm that Project Spark can be installed and played perfectly well on Windows 10 Technical Preview, so we might not worry at all for future compatibility of Project Spark
Project Spark just released as official as today 10/07/2014.

As Spark grows, so do we. I think in years to come better and better creations will come of this. The best is yet to come, but if the past few days of the release are any indication, we've only seen the beginning. Yes, this is coming from someone with a level 50 and tons of achievements, but I've earned them all with over 800 hours of play during the beta, and I don't plan on ever slowing down. The first thing I do when I get home from work is look at my downloads, see who played my games, and then begin working on leveling up my characters, doing challenges, and finally improving on and creating new games. It's a lot of work, but well worth it in the end. Keep up the great work Team Dakota!

The Game has too many options, has many, that can scare people to play it. I recommend giving it a look and judge for themselves, not a bad game and the community has done great things with.

amazing game. I have no idea why this is scoring so low. if you like creating thing you will like this, if you don't see any games out there you like then make your own why don't you. this is what you do in project spark simply an awesome game and the programming side isn't even that hard I mean if I can do it anyone can. best game on xbox one ATM hands down.

This is not a game!!!!! Note that. Project Spark is not for everyone, that's for sure. There's a steep learning curve here that can be overwhelming. Checking out other creators work can be eye opening and help you to figure out how to get certain results eg how to make a lightsaber, how to make checkpoints, how to make a working teleport. There are micro transactions however if you play and create you can earn you're way through as well. If it has been mentioned, yes its f2p. Project Spark is a long term community based project that is cross platform between Xbox One and PC and eventually 360. It really isn't something you can score and so a 10 is justified. I guess the same would apply to LBP and other creators, they lie in a grey zone imo. If you read this and decide to download it, then check out the following creations and games: Little big plan it, Little big adventure, Eye of Sauron, Ultimate Frisbee and Team Dakota's own creations. As a player from the Beta, I have to say that the game has seriously improved since the start. Many additions has been added, such as all the content packs, from desert to the alien planet.

Starting of from the start, the game is a free to play at it's core which has scared some people off, saying that it's nothing more than a money grab. Locking objects behind a pay wall and behind levels. While in the beginning of the Beta, this was true, a single object could be purchased for 3000 credits and be locked behind level 20 while the normal way of gaining credits grants you maybe 90 credits. An unnecessary addition to the game. However, in the first hours of the game you can easily earn up to 6000 credits quickly since everything gives you credits.

Adding content packs was a better idea for this model. With costs of around 10.000-20.000 credits you get more than 50 (varying) object, sounds, characters and paint. The game rewards dedication by giving you credits through every day Challenges and weekly Challenges. It gives you credits for each level up and for the levels you publish/play.

The game offer you thin tutorials to show the basics of the "koding" and sculpting. While not great, they get the job done.

Another mode is Crossroads where you choose what is happening and where it's happening based on your content. While playing, you make choices which changes the world around you, all of which can be done by yourself but the game makes it for you in this mode. You chooses what path you should take and what might lie in your path. After you're finished with a session of Crossroads, you can publish it if you want, although I' wouldn't recommend you filling the servers with them seeing how similar most of them might turn out. Crossroads has been changed to the better since the launch of Beta and has given you more of a sense of progression. You have your Champions (made by Team Dakota) that you can level up in Crossroads and use in Champions Quest, a sort of Story Mode to give you lore behind Project Spark.

The game is released with a new Theme Pack, Sci fi. To differ yourself from all the current Fantasy games out right now with more Themes coming in the future. More straightened out looks and more symmetry for those who aren't a fan of the squigly Fantasy look.

The UGC right now are diverse but not diverse enough. There are gems out there such as a very charming Frisbee game but most are WIP (work in progress) and copys of others games. IT might have taken time due to the lack of Level-linking (a feature recently inserted which allows you to link one level to another) and bigger worlds (also recently inserted). Then there's definetly the factor of the games learning curve which becomes quite steep.

Last but not least, there's the Spark Premium and Tokens. Premium is bought with Tokens that is bought with real money. This is where people go "Pay 2 Win, f****ng Bulls**t". Spark Premium gives you 2x the amount of XP and Credits while in possesion of it. It also grants you more puplishing spots where you can put your levels. Some things in the Marketplace can only be bought with Tokens the month that item is released. However, you can always just not buy it, If you don't want to spend money, just play the game and earn Credits that way, There were people reaching Max level 50 before Spark Premium. Premium gives you perks but no crucial perks.

With a pretty steep learning curves and dumb pricing on single objects prevents it from being a 9 but to me it's slightly above 8. Pick it up for free if you want to check it out but you can buy the starter pack for $40, including $85 worth of content.

I hope this was informing in some way, Happy Gaming!

Buy this game. Because when people tell you playing games aren't productive, this should come in handy ;) Also, if people can make penalty shootouts on Trials Fusion, and spend tens of hours recreating uber accurate race liveries in Forza, just imagine what people would produce in this game.

Impressive 'tool box' for gaming fun. As I'm not a programmer, my skills are limited but Spark allows me to exceed my skill by a substantial distance.

Project Spark won't have you churning out incredible games like a development powerhouse. It will, however, provide you an accessible set of tools and assets to begin the process of bringing your dream games to life. This won't happen overnight, so plan on spending a lot of time here if you are ever going to make something memorable.
