Surprising and versatile, Project Spark is a very nice videogame editor, with some issues due to its young age and a potentially bright future ahead.
  2. There’s just something about its robust creation modules that makes sense to me in a way most other game-making games don’t.

Project Spark allows you to unleash the gaming creator inside you.

Project Spark won't have you churning out incredible games like a development powerhouse. It will, however, provide you an accessible set of tools and assets to begin the process of bringing your dream games to life. This won't happen overnight, so plan on spending a lot of time here if you are ever going to make something memorable.

This free-to-play 'build-your-own-game'-game is pretty straight forward. The public beta is almost identical to the end product. There are already some amazing home build games to play, but if you want to build your own levels, you will probably be spending some money.

Project Spark surely delivers a new creative experience in the game-makers genre, offering the opportunity to quick play or edit levels and worlds from thousands of users. But when it comes to being a proper game, Team Dakota's title suffers the modern inception as a free-to-play experience and the expensiveness of the physical Starter Pack.

As soon as you invest the requisite time and a bit of cash in Project Spark, you'll find it to be a wonderful tool that leaves little to be desired.

A fascinating and powerful editor, that gives a lot of freedom to its users. Right now the number of user created levels and games is still mediocre at best, but the quality is rapidly growing, and the future for Project Spark looks bright.

Learning the obtuse and complicated systems is surprisingly enjoyable, because you’ll see satisfying results instantly when you conquer a problem.

If you just want to play, this is a great choice, since you can access all the community levels for free. If you want to create, you've got a very accessible and powerful tool, but keep in mind you'll need a lot of time or some real money to unlock content.

Despite some rough edges and weak audio, Project Spark is a must-buy for anyone interested in game design.

A creative and inventive bag of tricks with plenty to keep you occupied despite its limitations. [Christmas 2014, p.70]

Project Spark is a very good game, certainly worth your time, and since it’s free-to-play it’s also worth your money. However, it’s also a frustrating game, requiring hours of devotion in order to make something worthwhile, and even MORE hours of devotion to grind out the items you need for your Magnum Opus.

For the creators out there, check out the free version to see if you can come to grips with the system, but dive in to the Starter pack if you want a wider range of elements to jumpstart your creative endeavors.

Project Spark feels more like a tool to make your own videogames than a videogame on its own. We are not too fond of the in game transactions, but other than that Project Spark is free to play and gives you the opportunity to make in depth levels.

Project Spark offers an impressive collection of tools for tinkerers, or even someone who might want to try prototyping an idea, but the experience is what you’re willing to make of it. It won’t make a designer out of everyone, but if you’re eager to invest and study, it can be a versatile and enjoyable tool.

Plenty of options and easy to use creation tools, Project Spark is a very deep free to play game creator - simulator.

After playing Project Spark for an extended period of time, I must say I was disappointed. A game built around creation makes it frustratingly difficult to do so.

Project Spark makes it fun to create games, but those games are not that much fun to play.

The most powerful game creation tool ever released for a console, but it’s less accessible than it could be and the endless microtransactions leave a predictably sour taste.

Project Spark is upbeat, fun and creative. But, the only way to really enjoy making your own levels is to spend money or put hours and hours in the game to get some in-game money. We were not very amused by the framerate and the lack of community content.

A rich and complex tool. This is not necessarily a quality if you just want to have fun without spending hours on scripts. The interest now depends on your involvement and on the talent of the community, which is too weak for the moment.

With an economic model which is not very user friendly to the point that we suspect the game was designed with micro-transactions in mind, Project Spark won't be saved by its bugged content or its complicated UI.

I've been playing since the betaThis is my favorite Xbox One game, and actually beats out several other games I've played over the years. I've been playing since the beta version and haven't stopped. Few games fuel my interest and drive to create, while providing.

As Spark grows, so do we. I think in years to come better and better creations will come of this. The best is yet to come, but if the past few days of the release are any indication, we've only seen the beginning. Yes, this is coming from someone with a level 50 and tons of achievements, but I've earned them all with over 800 hours of play during the beta, and I don't plan on ever slowing down. The first thing I do when I get home from work is look at my downloads, see who played my games, and then begin working on leveling up my characters, doing challenges, and finally improving on and creating new games. It's a lot of work, but well worth it in the end. Keep up the great work Team Dakota!

That is the most fantastic game desing platform for anyone who wants to give a go at game creation. Everything is in there, like terrain sculpting, prop placement, scripting (Project Spark uses a very easy to learn visual approach to scripting/programming called Kode), now with day/night cycles, level linking between worlds, many Downloadable Content that could interest most people.

I think Project Spark has goergous visuals, nice interface, lots of cool options, and is really a great platform to make games in no time at all. I just did a 2D Sidescroller level by simply using the world wizard ( now simply called create) and playing with different options. That was highly demanded as an option since some time ago. In this latest release, Team Dakota crammed up some niceties and requested features like draw distance granular setting on both XB1 and PC platform.

I can also confirm that Project Spark can be installed and played perfectly well on Windows 10 Technical Preview, so we might not worry at all for future compatibility of Project Spark
Project Spark just released as official as today 10/07/2014.
