As someone who's been playing games since the early 80s, I've seen my score of poorly made games. In recent years I've been through the the Bethesda, Assassin Creed and WCW games of the last 2 generations to name but a few and I think we've all pretty muck come to respect them for their charming rubbishness....but this is different.

In recent years I've been through the the Bethesda, Assassin Creed and WCW games of the last 2 generations to name but a few and I think we've all pretty muck come to respect them for their charming rubbishness....but this is different.
T list all the individual issues I've experienced since installing this game a week ago would take me over the 5000 word limit so I will list my favourites here.
    1. Attacks not working: 25% of attacks randomly fail to occur when selected yet count as your action having been taken. In effect, you lose your turn.
    2. Charge not working: You can Charge in combat, doubling your move rate and ending with a strike while accepting a deduction in defence. Again 25% of the time the character stops half-way to the target and your turn is over.
    3. Abilities and Spells not conveying effects: As a fantasy game, there are hundreds of spells and abilities to choose from but often the enemy has a chance to save against some of the effects. Unfortunately, in PF:LM, if they save against one part they're immune to all of the effects!
    4. Keyboard issue: This was the first issue I found. When creating your initial character you get to name them. Sadly this is the only thing that has ever failed to pop the onscreen keyboard on any text entry screen unless you restart (several times).
    5. Save issues: 50% of saves crash the game back to Dashboard when selected or, even better, at 75% thus corrupting the save file. Also, you can have more than 1 gave on the go and the saves are conveniently saved under the character's name to keep them separate from one another; unfortunately the quicksave slots are not so when I played for a few hours and used Quicksave (to avoid crashes) I inadvertently deleted my wife's 20 hour save.
    6. Areas of the map inaccessible: So far 2 areas of the map refuse to allow entry. Visiting them on the main map should present an Enter or Leave option, these do neither. Sadly one has 2 recruitable characters inside which are inaccessible to me.
    7. Respec Characters: There is an NPC who you can pay to downgrade to level 1 then respect the levels to make all your character growth choices anew. Unfortunately, while you can spend the cash and go through all the levels, clicking Done takes you out of the process still at level 1 with no way to respend the points.
    8. Kingdom Management issue: I've sunk 30+ hours (ignoring the 15 or so replay due to corrupt saves and crashes) into the game up until today and this is where my journey ends. Part of the game is managing a kingdom and building property, making decisions, sending staff on quests etc to improve certain ranking to unlock new features and story-required milestones. Today I was hit by a crash when I left my castle for the town square and was spawned under the map so couldn't do anything and had to leave the area. This led to a dashboard crash and, upon reloading I was elsewhere on the worldmap having been moved out of my Kingdom. I travelled back to the Kingdom and was taken into the tutorial again upon which I found 20 hours of management had been deleted and all quests unavailable literally making the game unwinnable without a restart from the beginning again.

As it stands today with Owlcat Games, PC has continued support and updates. PS4 had a day 1 patch that fixed many issues (but hundreds more have come to light since) and Xbox have had no updates with the official word being "The update 1.0.0.9.* for Xbox One is currently in submission and awaiting approval" and they admit they have no idea how long this will take. Also, considering all many new issues being raised on their forum daily it's clear this phantom patch will solve none of these issues.
So my final words are these. Pathfinder is a brilliant idea made extremely poorly but a developer rushing for a cashgrab to find their new project which is the sequel due out on PC mid-2021.
Avoid, they don't deserve your money.

Really good game love the storyline, but crashes every five mins, really busy and have to do each area at least twice due to constantly getting thrown out of game

While not without its list of issues, the length of Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Definitive Edition is deceptively long, the voice acting is quite well done, the dialogue is written well and the world has more than enough lore to get lost in. While its console port could have used a little more care and work, it’s still a great gaming experience if you crave those classic cRPG’s from the late 90’s – early 2000’s and want a classic D&D-like experience.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker is a very detailed and immersive RPG and there is much to get involved within the game and enjoy. Fans of the old Baldurs Gate-style games will find a lot of comfort in this game as there is a lot of familiarities and it has been brought to a decent modern standard. Causal players might find the game like wading through treacle in its pacing, but with the great story line and bags of content, there is a lot of enjoyment to be had if you can commit the time to it.

Behind all of the technical trouble of Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Definitive Edition is a really great CRPG that honors its heritage and feels like a 90's CRPG release - the kind of thing that could stand right next to the classic greats. While it's certainly not as good as some of those seminal titles, it does come close and is a great time to anyone who wants to party up and venture into a wild and dynamic fantasy world. It’s just a shame that technical aspects stop that from happening.
