I am reviewing the new version of the game. Not much changed. still BORING BORING BORING BORING! Still feels like Sea of Thieves in space to me, minus the online player BS! I just dont see the appeal of this game. There isnt much to do and it is repetitive which leads to major major major boredom!

What a boring game. Trillions of planets but all the same...empty! NO civilizations, no point in exploring the same thing over and over and mining the same resources over and over...this game is crazy overpriced and boring. Also the storage limitations is a nightmare, finally unlock storage containers after HOURS of playing only to find it only holds 5 resources and you can only build 1 per base! what troll limitations...avoid these crappy developers at all costs..they only like to troll paying customers with the stupidest game mechanics I've ever seen. You're telling me that all these star systems and planets have advanced star bases and protector drones on/in them yet there aren't any advanced civilizations/cities on the planets themselves...ya OK..that makes 0 sense. How you going to build a starbase before a planet city? Like I said, stupid/lame game design and mechanics....AVOID. Expand

This game could be a masterpiece, but Hello Games shows their incompetence in video game design yet again with an even more violently buggy version than the launch PS4 and PC version. The worst and most unforgivable bug of all being the OFTEN corruption of save files. I recommended this game to 3 people hoping they would buy it and jump in the game with me.....ALL THREE OF THEM had their save file corrupted. One lost 40+ hours, another 20, and my one friend 10. So I jump in game with the three of them in three separate instances, feeding them resources and supplies to help them get going again, and the friend who only had 20 hours had ANOTHER GOD DAMN SAVE CORRUPTION 10 hours into his second save. For **** sake guys I've been trying to be supportive of this game and telling people to stick with it for months...even years fully expecting the Next update to do something special, and the sad thing is....its actually pretty good. But with the plethora of bugs I could never recommend this game in its current state. I felt compelled to write this review because I've seen nothing but praise for the game by every major media outlet and on the reddit there's plenty of people who have experienced this issue. I can only support a lying incompetent studio for so long before they've destroyed every ounce of good will they could have possibly redeemed with the update. I'm done holding my breath waiting for No Man's Sky to be "good". Expand

Lost hours work of progress as s newbie because I keep being attacked any time I fly anywhere?
Games ridiculous, then it auto saves after you die deliberately overwriting your previous saves so you can’t even go back

Still boring as. Don't understand the sudden praise, it's still a large, empty game with nothing to do.

Do Not Buy! This game was a blatant lie and after many year of trying to deliver on that lie this game is still absolute rubbish. The fact that the developer lied and went on all the talk shows saying how great the game was and said all these lies that wasn't in the game at release. It took over two years to start to fix this. the core game is just rubbish Expand

People who bought the highly hyped, very soon useless pre-launch goodies were crippled with bugs and many couldn't progress at all --- there was no refunds on that.

I might give it a try (I played at a friend's house originally) if it was a 1$ mobile app, or a free web game. Because the FPS rate is similar to what you'd expect from these when it's not written very well... also, I wouldn't bother until 2 more YEARS of patches, because it's still a mostly static theme park where you have to mine a lot.....

I only had about 50 hours in the game but already had it beat, played through the main story, collected all the runes, had an S class squid ship and could craft unlimited resources meaning unlimited cash. Then the developer changed the inventory system and I lost a bunch of tech upgrade slots significantly nerfing my ship, multitool and jet pack. Thanks a lot!

No exploration. Just do what the Mission Text tells you what to do, even when you deplete some energy, your prioritized mission is to craft the fuel. Its just grind and fulfill the next predefined task. Not like Ark, where you set your own goals and where you find handcraftet caves, here all is the same and predictable.

Bad GUI, had to google a few times just to know how to craft, obtain, or find a bought item in the inventory.
Too many scripted events, feels too constructed (forced encounters on space, flying-by NPCs exactly where i am on the planet), its not sandboxy.
Had a small high while building a base, lost all motivation again when picked up the missions. Even the main missions are the identical takeoff-jump-land-run-activate-grind-repeat gameplay loop over and over, just to get the next little piece of story.
Helping a fleet being attacked by pirates will punish you, as soon you hit the fleet ship accidentally, you loose standing, standing with is annoyingly grinded with the annoying faction missions. Then after killing 5 waves of annoying enemies, with a bullet sponge miniboss at the end, you get nothing for this. Just wasted time and standing.
Fuel draining is just getting annoying, forces you to do more dull meteor grind between your tasks, while you are often being attacked from pirates where you almost can't escape.

The Bad: The most deceptive marketing campaign in recent memory. Developers are proven to be as dishonest as they come. Game launched nothing like marketing showed.

The Good: The developers stood by the product and eventually after ~3 years brought it close to where it wanted to be at launch. They probably only started development after taking the pre-orders to the bank though. also

also fun fact this game is the reason why Sony hasn't had any early access games for years and Sean Murray tried to weasel and say that Sony was responsible for not giving him enough funding. VP of Sony of America denied this and called it false.

No Man’s Sky NEXT was a meditative experience for me. The simple loop of landing, scanning flora and fauna, scrounging for minerals, and finally walking up a hill to experience a breathtaking vista never got old. Others may struggle with the game’s openness, and others will likely feel intimidated by such a non-guided experience. But for those craving an experience full of addictive play loops and the ability to go anywhere? This game is for them.

A fun laid-back exploration experience and it has the unique honour of featuring the largest open world in all of gaming. However, don't go in expecting an exciting or challenging campaign because it's simply not either of those things.
