In some hugely important ways, like music, visuals, and its ability to not just engage players as gamers but teach them as students, Mulaka is worth playing for most everyone, rather ironically. It's not a game designed with mass appeal, and yet because it's ultimately so authentic, so intimate, and so beautifully personal, it's easy to appreciate. For most players, Mulaka will be a familiar gameplay experience structured around something wholly new and enriching in every other way.

If Mulaka is proof of anything, it's that there is a definitive impact when games are made by more diverse voices. Mulaka feels deeply personal.

Mulaka is a great Zelda type game that is certainly decent value for money. The gameplay is good fun with an excellent mixture of puzzle, exploration, and combat. You should be aware of the bugs, and the fights sometimes do go on a bit too long, but overall it’s a great game.

Mulaka is not a perfect game, but it makes sure to show the uniqueness of the Tarahumara culture and demonstrate that Mexican culture can be interesting. Mulaka follows an entertaining story, with a good formula for its controls and mechanics, and while it may have some flaws, it isn’t anything that should spoil the overall experience. The sound and visuals match each other, letting the player become hypnotized in Mulaka‘s world until the game ends, which takes around 6-8 hours (depending if you want all the collectibles or not). Mulaka is a fun little game that I say is worth your time for anyone into action/adventure games.

An interesting and fresh approach to the semi-open world adventure genre, that sadly lacks a bit of synergy in its mechanics.

Mulaka is stunning in its design and detail, but lacking in its gameplay execution, more specifically its combat mechanics. The problem with delayed control feedback certainly doesn’t help. However, if you can overlook these faults, Mulaka offers up a remarkable journey that boasts distinction, meaning, and ambiguity.

It is a shame that Mulaka fails gameplay, cause it's an impressive cultural vehicle that tells us about the fascinating Tarahumara culture. Bypassing its playable mechanics, give it a chance. You will enjoy it very much.

Mulaka continues to show the prowess of developer Lienzo. They are slowly honing their craft and I expect it to continue. I look forward to their next game, but for now anyone who enjoys games such as Zelda or Okami would do well to check this title out. It is available on virtually everything and worth the investment even with its shortcomings.

Mulaka is a good game which stands out more for its setting than gameplay. Had the combat and movement been more precise, it would've been a truly exceptional title.

A fascinating voyage in the Tarahumara culture and Chihuahua environments, partially offset by a bit tedious fights and too-restricted exploration.

If you honestly feel you must play Mulaka, you may want to wait for a sale, but I can’t fathom recommending the idea of doing so at all. Mulaka is a game with a beautiful and rich lore based environment plagued by not only the enemies but also by the core failures of the game.

Mulaka does get this right at times and if it didn’t suffer with the shortcomings it has then it would be an even better game. The world in which the game takes place in is absolutely fantastic in my opinion. Exploring the world never seemed tedious and it has a decent size to it, so you can enjoy yourself somewhat. You will notice however that the more you explore the more technichal issues the game suffers with, and whilst none of these are major issues they can still be a nuisance at times. The gameplay that’s on offer in Mulaka has a decent variety to it and when all the mechanics click together you end up having some enjoyable combat and puzzles to sink your teeth into. Unfortunately though the controls can be a little awkward at times and the movement can also feel a little awkward and that can take away from the fun factor every now and then. Without a doubt my favourite thing about this game were the boss battles. The boss battles were absolutely awesome and the thought and effort that has gone into them is evident from the get go, and by doing this they’ve made each different boss stand out. The same can also be said about the other enemies you face and the amount of variety is excellent when it comes to the enemy design. The game unfortunately isn’t blessed when it comes to the amount of content it has and in my opinion it was a little on the short side, and I definitely would have liked to have been able to do a little more. The lack of content means the game doesn’t have much in terms of replayability so once completed your highly unlikely to return back to it. The presentation side of the game is something that ticked a lot of boxes for me. Visually the game has a lot of unique charm and the art style can look beautiful at times. The sound design has also been done well and it does a very good job of drawing you into the game. At the end of the day I appreciate the effort that has gone into Mulaka and if it didn’t have the niggling problems it has it would have definitely gotten a higher score from me. That being said despite its problems it does provide you with a very enjoyable experience and for that reason it does enough to get a thumbs up from me. Full Review »

You just do your best and try to not get too frustrated at the randomness of things.
Such a beautiful and interesting game, it could have been a masterpiece if only the gameplay had been licked a little.

It is a very nice game, it has a very charming artstyle, and the setting and culture is just straight up beautiful. Short but very pretty.
