They’ve done wonderful work when it comes to the presentation side of the game with both the visuals and sound design delivering a very immersive and exciting experience. I enjoy the amount of customization options that are available, because being allowed to chop and change certain things meant I could put my own personal feel on things. Technically the game holds up really well throughout and this meant racing around on my bike always felt fun and most important of all realistic. The riding and physics of the bikes feel improved over the original game and winning a race now feels a lot more rewarding because of this. I found the load times to be a little too long and waiting around can test your patience. Last year’s Monster Energy Supercross is definitely up there with the best bike racing games ever. I went into Monster Energy Supercross 2 with excitement and a touch of expectations as well. Thankfully it delivered, because this game has took what was so good from the first game and in some ways improved further which in turn made this game absolutely brilliant. One of the improvements then came in the form of the riding itself because the physics feel more realistic this time around. You can also chop and change more things this time around as well and this added touch was nice because the freedom allowed me to make things more personal. In terms of content the game has a myriad of modes for you to get to grips with and racing in each of these modes never became dull or boring. The long load times in Monster Energy Supercross 2 aside, gets little else wrong and with the added bonus of an exciting, hyped, presentation and a technical essence that doesn’t throw many problems your way. You get another offering that’s stands up there with the very best motor bike racing games of all time. Two massive thumbs up!

As someone who enjoys this genre, and always has, I wish that Milestone could strike gold and usher in a new heyday of off-road racing games. They have some building blocks in place, but need to try to take more time with their games and polish them more before release. Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Video Game 2 is hurt by this lack of polish, as well as some dated mechanics and middling gameplay, leaving it a mediocre racer overall.

Maybe sometimes it can be mostly frustrating, but not most of the time. It's a fun game.

Considering that it’s a sequel, and despite its efforts, Monster Energy Supercross 2 doesn’t feel wholly refined overall. The game suffers considerably due to its loose handling, its steep difficulty curve, and its excessive loading times. That said, there’s enough diverse content on offer to keep die-hard fans entertained until next time. Just don’t expect the quality to have come on in leaps and bounds in comparison to its predecessor.
