For those who like to build stories of their own, want to work with interesting and unique structures, and are ready to use their mind to create new creative ideas, Memories of Mars certainly works. But on the flipside, it really could do with a few more markers and a ton more help for potential newbies struggling through the early stages.

There’s nothing novel with this release; much like the droning ten-note melody that punctuates the menus and all too much of the gameplay, it’s repetitious and bland. Memories of Mars asks for too much player commitment and offers too little in return. Whatever this game does well is done better elsewhere.

Progession is slow,Memories of Mars - This open world survival game, as the title suggests is set on Mars, in an abandoned mining town. Progession is slow, although not tedious and is enjoyable, after all, survival should be a marathon and not a 100m sprint. This will be achieved gradually by continious gathering of resources to ear. FLOPS, that will allow you to unlock new equipment for yourself or your base in the skill tree, with many different sub trees that focus on various aspects. From a visual standpoint the game looks really nice and with plenty of detail that will satisfy anyone. Menu navigation is pretty straight forward given most of your building is done from there that is a relief. I experienced a couple of minor bugs but nothing that will cause too much frustration just slight annoyances though I expect those to be addressed fairly quickly after release day (when we experienced them) The price of this game is also great, given you feel you get a lot for your money and for any survival fans this is a MUST have for fans of the genre on Xbox One. This game seemed promising. The ideas are there.
But when the devs change their in game rules and only post it to a discord with absolutely no information in game, and the proceed to ban players for things that are 100% not specified in the in game terms and conditions, you have problems.
The game itself is a lag fest with disconnects, server instability, clunky and unintuiative controls. Poor explanation to the game mechanics. Spoke to several new players that were unsure how the bases worked, if there was open pvp, if their base can be destroyed. There is little to no explanation in game in these regards hence the mass confusion of new players. The devs try and enforce pick and choose enforcement of hidden rules instead of implementing in game systems. Then will ban you without warning. They get to decide that some walls are okay and some are not with absolutely no clarification in game. This is power abuse, poor communication and corrupt.
The game is competitive in every sense with the entire end game locked behind pvp open zones and offline base raiding. You will be murdered and robbed. But if you lock some one in a box you get banned. I would 100% reccomend avoiding this game.
Its clunky, laggy, unintuiative, has hidden rules that are enforced by ban happy devs that pick and choose as they wish, the end game is quick and easy to reach and the only real enjoyment can be found through the pvp and raiding which is heavily nurtured and often unplayable.
The game has potential, but in it's current state it is a waste of money.
