Maximum Football 2018 is a game you’ll want to avoid for many reasons. Take your pick; extremely dated visuals, daft character animations, puddle-deep gameplay mechanics, graphical faults, technical problems and a complete and utter lack of polish across the board. Sure, the game’s main performance may be passable and it controls well for the most part, but that’s the max limit of the game’s pros.

I really wish I could say anything positive about Maximum Football 2018. After all, it’s clearly a labour of love, and you hate to say something bad about a game that people have so clearly put their hearts and souls into. But when the end result is something as bad in every conceivable way as this game is, your options for positive words are pretty limited. Maybe one day down the road this franchise may evolve into a worthy Madden alternative, but right now, it’s not even close to being a passable stopgap solution.

I quite enjoyed Canadian Football 17 I can definitely see that there’s been some improvements made, which is great. Whilst the presentationI quite enjoyed Canadian Football 17 I can definitely see that there’s been some improvements made, which is great. Whilst the presentation side of the game leaves a lot to be desired I actually quite enjoyed both the visuals and sound design because it does in a way give the game a bit of charm.
There is a decent amount of content for you to sink your teeth into and if you like the style you’ll definitely be satisfied for quite a few hours. There are still a few issues and glitches that remain I must admit that the gameplay feels more fluid this time around and I didn’t get as frustrated this time around because of this. The technical issues the game has can be a little bit of a nuisance every now and then and I hope a patch is brought out soon to tackle these issues.
Sometimes the AI doesn’t move as they should move and they lack in terms of realism from time to time.Still a long way to go to try and put up some realistic opposition against the behemoth that is Madden. Does Maximum Football 2018 do enough to get a recommendation from me? Despite it suffering with a few teething problems I actually enjoyed Canadian Football 2017 so I definitely had some interest when it came to Maximum Football 2018. Thankfully I’m pleased to say that this year’s game has improved certain areas and even though it still suffers with a few shortcomings it’s not a bad alternative to Madden. Don’t get me wrong though it still can’t compete with the massive Madden but if the developers continue to put work into the game then I can definitely see it bringing more fans to the table, which is of course a very good thing for all us gamers who love football.
