I dont understand the hate this game is getting . It's like people just wanted this game to do bad and are focusing on the bad animation on launch day . I do agree that this is 2017 and issues like that should not happen in any game regardless of the budget . It's like people just wanted this game to do bad and are focusing on the bad animation on launch day . I do agree that this is 2017 and issues like that should not happen in any game regardless of the budget . The dialog choise for some characters (Addisons tired face) is questionable but it's not all bad , infact there are a few instances where I would say that was n stupid thing to say or that makes no sense . The side quests are not the best but sort of make sense . The characters are all still new and even though they develop well and almost feel real It will take time to love them . You cant replace Garrus ,Tali , Liara or any of those guys in a single game , but this is a better attempt at getting to know and love your crew than ME1 .

Now that we have the negatives out the way the positives , exploration i would say is a solid 8/10 meaning the worlds you explore I found them beautiful and uniqe (Havarl and Aya) .
The choises you make does have an effect and offers alot of replayability solid 8/10 again . Chosing between meeting aliens with or without Jaal does have a difference . The new dialog wheel allows you to choose a more emotional answer rather than having to decide if you are going to be pure good , nuetral or pure dick . Even though ryder does not always say what i mean the tone is carried over and the conversation feels good .
Combat was the stand out solid 9/10 . That jump jet you get just makes a whole lot a difference , jumping from cover and then just shooting from mid air give a bit more of freedom. Guns are pretty standard but with unique and interesting designs . The powers/abilitys are great with you having to choose 3 but does not matter the class .
The story and tone a solid 8.5/10 you would start the game and you might feel that there is not a lot of urgency , which suits the tone and story , there is no great evil coming to end all life with ease(reapers) , you are explorers finding your own way in andromeda which I loved , the story it self might not stand on the same pedastill as the trilogy but it would never . You are comparing 1 game to 3 which is unfair . Andromeda has a few twists and turns in the story and it left me wanting more , needing more of that story .

My final verdict is that even though it has a lot of problems its a really good game . For 5 years I waited for a game with the same feeling I got from the trilogy and I have searched for a substitute for ME but could not find it untilll MEA . Now naturally all this is my opinion and alot of you wont agree and call me blind or delutional , which may be true , but giving MEA 1/10 or 4/10 is just absurd and that is what I call blind . The hate for this game must stop especialy if you read the report on what the Devs went through to give us this game . It is not a GOTY contender but hell it's the most fun and wanting more experiance I have had in a very long time .
From my side I hope Bioware and EA learns from this as not to kill a great franchise .
I am hooked for all DLC that may come.
I have made the one way trip to Andromeda and I hope the Devs doesn't desert all of us that made the trip

I realize that this is a very polarizing game in the community but I am sticking with my score. I got this game as a gift from my brother because he knew I loved the previous three games. I was extremely excited when I got it. But that brings me to my one nitpick. The loading times for this game is absolute гавно it took me a solid hour and a half to load up the game. Then when you finally get to play the game it takes forever for everything to load. Other than that this game is outstanding. This brings me to the end. The visuals. They are absolutely stunning. Going into the first vault on Eos is breathtaking. It still awes me to this day. The scale and magnitude of the worlds are amazing and they all feel plausible. Overall this is a great game that I still enjoy almost a year after first playing it. Expand

Finished Mass Effect Andromeda today, my thoughts:

    1. The main story felt a bit short (a bit) but the side quests kept the game going 2. The side quests are amazing in the game, sometimes better than the main story with each character offering something new and entertaining 3. The music can sometimes get repetitive but does play excellent selections during intense fire fights.

    1. The main story felt a bit short (a bit) but the side quests kept the game going

    2. The side quests are amazing in the game, sometimes better than the main story with each character offering something new and entertaining

    3. The music can sometimes get repetitive but does play excellent selections during intense fire fights.

    4. Flying through space is annoying, being forced to jump to every planet and sit through non-skip able cut scenes

    5. The skills and weapons provide a wide variety of choices ranging from melee to shotguns and the skill tree's does provide a small selection but improves with mix and match functions

    6. The remnant vault glyph puzzles feels tacked on and takes time and effort, which should be spent on other areas of the game. In certain cases I stopped playing the game all together because it stopped progression as it was too difficult to solve (Recommend using online guides)

    7. With each character you're getting a wide range of personalities, all worth investigating and I felt the need to talk to each and every one of them after a mission as their thoughts were so unique and quite entertaining.

    8. Each new planet provided expanding vistas to explore with little missions sprinkled in between, though some did feel a bit repetitive in mission structure and a hassle to travel to, this is made much easier after fast travel is unlocked in specific locations

    9. Throughout the story you will be asked to make game changing choices and these are quite amazing, but is asked too little, the ones they do ask I have seen change my game in some aspects.

    10. The conclusion was worth the wait, with everything trying up in a neat knot and the feeling of we did it, its over (in an accomplished way), with the exception of one enemy character (which the game uses to set up the next game perhaps)

Overall it is definitely a game I would consider replaying if I had no other games to finish and would enjoy it again because of the characters and maybe the gameplay

First of all, everyone who gave this game less than 6 points are neckbearded crybabies who imagine that games are made according to just their expectations/imagination. I can't stand this kind of fanboyism. You should play it as a new game, not a sequel!
The game has room for improvement here and there, but nothing that affects the game itself or gameplay. All familiar ME the elements are there.

Technically superb. Great graphics, fluid controls, joyful gameplay, great audio und good speakers.

This game was fun, a bit too long. I played about 55 hours to see the end, not to see all of it.

I read all the hatred of the game for years, and because of it I couldn’t bring myself to play it after the love I had for the original trilogy. However in 2022 I decided to finally sit down and do a full play through. Here’s some pros and cons from the game as I saw them.

    Pros.
Level system. No longer are you set to a limited style of play. You wanna be that infiltration sniper with biotics? Go ahead, wanna summon drones while sniping to keep enemies at range, you got it, wanna teleport into a group and unleash massive damage with biotics and shotguns boom done. Profile system. Now you can switch profiles on the fly so you can do more damage depending on the situation.

Story. The story, while not as good as mass effect 1 and 3, is by far better than 2. With more romance options and quests.

Larger open world’s. Plenty of exploring and side quests to do.

Crafting. You craft almost everything, from melee weapons to armor. Graphics. Now this is a pro and a con. Some of the terrains, etc are amazing, however it’s like they spent the effort on those and skipped character models. Cons
The world’s get tedious. Go hear summon forward beacon continue… activate pillars, open vault and terraform the planet.

The number of side quests. I’m about 30 hours in and haven’t really moved the story forward since hour 12. Some of the side missions/loyalty missions literally involve going to a location for a brief cutscene then leaving. The NPCs.. most of them aren’t likeable. There’s no one like Liara, or Garrus. And maybe these are just unable to live up to the standard set by the previous crew. Races. You see the milky way races represented totaling 4 (except aquarian). But this new galaxy beyond dark space only have two sentient species? Finally the Mako is back…. This one is a pro and con too. The vehicle handles a ton better than in ME1, and travel paths are better marked, However travel in it still feels slow, and there’s no cannon on this one.

Also, we get a way better Family dynamic than the rest of their games. Not to mention it's also one hell off a looker.

I’m not a fan of the Mass Effect series. The running back and forth for scanning. Endless looting, customization of weapons and gear. Crammed space stations with numerous dialogues and sterile environments. Clunky battle controls. Non engaging story.

When I saw the new Andromeda being added to Gamepass, I pondered if it was worth check it out. Not because I like Mass Effect, but because space’s always fascinated me.

The intro with a colonization ship traveling through space seemed promising. Maybe not the best graphics. Actually far from it. And the same clunkyness in controls. Animations are far from the best there is, especially since the game now has three years on it’s back. And yet, I plowed 12 hours in one day. Why? Usually, when a game is boring, I can manage a couple of hours. Leave it. Maybe come back and play some more. And finally get bored, leave and never come back.

Very few games have that “it” factor. For me, it’s Oblivion, RDR 1-2, some GTAs, The Witcher III & the first Fall Outs that qualify. They just suck you into the world, making you crave to explore it. That is what Mass Effect did to me. Just a couple of hours in I had one Game of Throne like experience. By then the game had me, hook and sink.

The social interaction with your team and others, the politics going on behind the curtains and solving the mystery of what brought down this once blooming part of the andromeda galaxy. What are the alien invaders after? Who can I really trust in our colony? All top ingrediences.

Sure, the graphics are a bit outdated and the face animations are a tiny bit clunky sometimes. But mostly, they work good. And the voice acting is top notch. Listening to my team mates squabble amongst themselves are pure gold. But this makes the game a 9 and not a 10.

The fighting is really funny, engaging, quick and variable in terms of how you defeat your enemies. Also, the AI works good in not just making your enemies stay in one place or go log stupid. Those of you who recently played Cyberpunk know what I mean.

Maybe this game suit people who’s not played the previous MEs (or played but disliked). I don’t know. All I know is that I’m counting the hours until I can dive into space again, going about exploring it with my awesome space ship.

Ryder is serviceable as a protagonist but is no Commander Shepard, there's a part of me that wishes we got to play as Alec Ryder (father) as he held a stoic and "cool" presence for the limited time he was present for. The gameplay and exploration however is where this game really shines. There are loads of planets to explore with their own side quests to complete, littered with stunning vistas to admire. The combat flows really well and there's a substantial level of player skill customisation and weapon customisation. Overall, despite its shortcomings Mass Effect: Andromeda was an enjoyable experience for me. The first few hours feel like a grind, but you will be rewarded for sticking with it. The game is dragged down a bit by all of the reading that must be done and some overly long conversations, but this is rather typical for the genre. The game really shines when you're exploring an alien world and battling the local fauna, and when you get down to it that's what you really want out of a space-based RPG.
