Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - Episode 2: Under Pressure

All in all, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: A Telltale Series – Episode 2: Under Pressure does little, if anything, to disappoint. Some may feel that it ends rather abruptly, but it leaves you wanting more, which can only be a good thing. We’re now two episodes in, and it’s exciting to speculate as to where the story might go. If you’re a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and yet still on the fence with regards to the Telltale series, I’d consider getting down and making a purchase, pronto.

Episode two is a bloody good continuation of the Guardians of the Galaxy adventures, with genuine laughter, plenty of happiness and occasional sadness to be had.

Under Pressure is moving Telltale’s Guardians series in a positive direction. The central conflict is more defined at this point, and the character setup work attempted in the first episode is already paying off. A few technical problems, including a couple of non-repeatable hard crashes during my playthroughs, dampened my enjoyment of this outing. However, this second installment left me interested to see where the writers go next, and in episodic video game storytelling, that’s what it’s all about.

We're off and running with Episode 2 of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series. What we're running toward isn't quite certain yet, but Telltale seems to want to take us on a ride to get to know each of the members of the team better. The dialogue in Under Pressure is much better than Tangled Up In Blue, but other aspects of the game are struggling, such as the unfitting implementation of the Telltale formula. All in all it's a solid episode that feels decidedly rushed in the end — Rocket Raccoon's story is compelling, but it seems like the developer forgot they need to carry the main plot forward too, and left us on a massive cliffhanger to make up for it.
