    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really enjoyed my time with Mafia. It story was very well done with good characters and entertaining environments. The levels were distinct and the collectibles were neat. However the plot twist of Sam I don't think was foreshadowed enough. It was a bit quick of a turn. The game world is absolutely worthless and mostly a setpiece for the story. You can skip every drive and not miss a thing. The driving mechanics were also not ideal. I felt the game play was good (except for the stealth section) and satisfying. Worth your time if you're a fan if the crime genre.… Expand

    Juego magnífico, de acción y que tiene una gran historia, para mí ha sido una gran sorpresa por muchos aspectos, por ese gran inicio, en la gran mafia italiana, de película y los personajes sin duda tiene gran carisma, sobre todo el nuestro y siempre será recordado Tommy.

    Gráficamente un juego increíble que se ve muy bien en todos los aspectos.     Gráficamente un juego increíble que se ve muy bien en todos los aspectos. La jugabilidad muy sencilla, fácil y quizá como único punto negativo es que es un juego parece perfecto, pero quizá muy vacío falta varias misiones secundarias porque el juego se hace muy corto , que no es que sea un gran aspecto negativo, pero quizá con más cosas este juego podría haber sido uno de esos juegos excelentes que lo es aun así.

    I couldn't ask for a better remake of a 20-year-old game. We don't need to rate the story or missions, as those are almost perfect. Developers who made the remake loved the original and did everything possible to provide a modern graphics experience. Must play.

    A worthy remake of the original game with stunning graphics and poignant stories by Tommy Angelo, which was buggy on release. But since the time the game was fixed and now I want to play it again and again

    Good game only for sale i would never buy for full price. Basic story not really interesting or something lack of weapons lack of free world, only story and that it. If you got sale on this game about 10$ so get it, i personally wont pay over 10$ for this game.

    Bardzo dobra pod względem fabuły gra, która wręcz przykuła do ekranu, jednak nie ostrzegła się błędów. Na pewno na niekorzyść wpłynęła ilość klatek, która na Xbox Series X potrafiła nie osiągać liczby 30 k/s. Do tego pojawiło się w grze nieco gliczy a dodatkowo, AI inteligencją nie grzeszyli. Tym nie mniej, dobry remake, który wciągnął od samego początku do końca rozgrywki.Bardzo dobra pod względem fabuły gra, która wręcz przykuła do ekranu, jednak nie ostrzegła się błędów. Na pewno na niekorzyść wpłynęła ilość klatek, która na Xbox Series X potrafiła nie osiągać liczby 30 k/s. Do tego pojawiło się w grze nieco gliczy a dodatkowo, AI inteligencją nie grzeszyli.     Certainly not perfect as far as gameplay goes, but pretty and a great story. Shooting mechanic gets a bit repetitive towards the end, but story definitely drives it home. A love letter to old school mob movies/books, though somewhat predictable in terms of moral/social criticism within the narrative. Worth a purchase imo

    The story is more or less expectedly cliche, but it's got great controls and some fun shooting levels. I liked the characters, as they're not one dimensional stereotypes. The gimmicks in "Free ride" mode, however, is really limited, not as entertaining as, let's say, the Grand Theft Auto series.

    It's a game with a great story, but a little short. Graphics are quite good, the character's facial expressions are really well made. The controls are somewhat clunky, driving is not that great.

    I liked this game up until the level where you have to shoot down Morello's airplane. Even on the easy setting, this level is unfathomably difficult. After trying 200 times to shoot down the plane, I had to abandon the game. I am simply not capable of shooting down the plane because it is too difficult. Хотелось бы увидеть нативную версию для PS5 и Xbox Series X, где все визуальные качества данной игры раскроются на 100%, а игровой процесс, за счёт увеличенного фреймрейта, станет еще более захватывающим.В мире опенворлдов на 100 часов, подобные игры с плотно сбитым нарративом становятся еще ценнее.     I remember playing the original version as a kid and I thought it was a really cool game but I was always stuck on the mission to burn and destroy the cars (yes, right at the beginning of the game lol) and so I never managed to finish it, but this time I did it.

    Graphics (they are very beautiful, especially the city at night)

    Immersion (I felt very immersed in the game but maybe it was something personal, I even respected the traffic rules)

    Soundtrack

    Characters (I really liked them, felt like a sibling with Paulie and Sam, Don Salieri who passed the weight of being an authority figure and Sarah who had great chemistry with Tommy)

    End of story (it's a nice plot twist, unfortunately I already knew about this plot accidentally, but it's still amazing)

    Negative points:

    Bugs (I played this game close to launch and there were bugs that bothered me, like melee combat that sometimes looked clumsy)

    Empty open world (although very beautiful, it is lifeless and I consider this a terrible mistake, it would have a lot of potential for exploration with secondary activities,side missions and maybe even an online game mode but...)

    So, for those who are a fan of mafia theme, this is a game that cannot be ignored, it is really worth it.    … Expand

    I love playing this game on Classic difficulty. It reminds me these good old days. I wish every Remaster will be made so good as this one.

    Despite all of this, the problem of poor storytelling and character development is moved into far greater focus. It just feels like so much necessary story has been lost for the sake orchestrating just another cliched mobster scene, that inevitably ends in an excessive fire-fight. Its difficult to pin-point the character shifts in the protagonist. As though, because we've seen this story so many times before, we can just accept shifts in his character whether they're highlighted or not. The romantic part of the plot seems to just happen. You walk a girl home once and your married, if only it was that easy.

    In terms of gameplay, there is a nice variety locations, the guns feel satisfying and the driving feels predictably awkward (as its intended). However, the intentions of the developers was to ramp up realism when it comes to gameplay, bullets being left in the chamber and lost when reloading and the driving mechanics as stated, but this feels somewhat counterintuitive when the rest of the game feels just like any other, over-the-top shooter. I feel even greater focus on realism could have differentiated the game further into being some far more noteworthy. Also, the AI is very cunning, especially on Classic difficulty, but i felt a bit cheated when i literally saw enemies teleporting; but i'm hoping this is a bug.

    Given the cheaper price-tag, i do think its really good value, because although i didn't think the narrative is very well established, it hits all the notes you'd expect from a game titled Mafia.    … Expand

    C’est un remaster ou plutôt… presque un remake (!) du Mafia original de 2002 et on voit la différence…! très beau et très soigné, tout a été refait de la cave au grenier, à tel point qu’il n’a certainement pas à rougir de ses concurrents contemporains. La VF est excellente et reprise intégralement bien entendu du jeu d’origine, excepté la voix du protagoniste principal et c’est bienC’est un remaster ou plutôt… presque un remake (!) du Mafia original de 2002 et on voit la différence…! très beau et très soigné, tout a été refait de la cave au grenier, à tel point qu’il n’a certainement pas à rougir de ses concurrents contemporains. La VF est excellente et reprise intégralement bien entendu du jeu d’origine, excepté la voix du protagoniste principal et c’est bien dommage… sans doute un problème de droits (et de gros sous) avec l’excellent doubleur José Luccioni (la voix d’Al Pacino entre autres !).

    Le plus étonnant dans ce ‘Mafia’, c’est qu’ils se sont tout de même cassé le cul à modéliser une ville entière (assez grande) mais que ça ne se joue pas comme un monde ouvert normal, excepté quelques rares fuites ou poursuites où la ville et la police sont vraiment mises à contribution. Tout le reste n’est que missions très scénarisées (bien mises en scène certes mais qui s’enchaînent un peu trop à la chaîne) avec un paquet de cinématiques.

    Bien que cela fasse penser souvent aux Affranchis (le chef-d’oeuvre de Scorsese), le jeu reste vissé tout au premier dégré et sérieux comme un pape. L’action et les affrontements restent (un peu trop) prédominants, bien que de parfois, de l’infiltration soit nécessaire, laquelle se révèle un brin médiocre… mais pas catastrophique heureusement.

    Le principal souci -et de taille- reste la jouabilité très rigide de ce TPS qui multiplie d’ailleurs des séquences sur rails et/ou très scriptées tout à fait horripilantes. Le maniement reste lent et hasardeux, rendant les fusillades d’une rare imprécision… et difficulté. On ne se soigne pas ici… sauf à des points prévus d’avance ici ou là, des postes de premiers soins.

    Les munitions manquent très souvent, ce qui oblige à changer et/ou ramasser les flingues sur les macabés… très souvent. A moins de tirer dans la tête (quand on y arrive…) les ennemis sont des éponges à balles… En vérité, c’est si mauvais à manier, si pataud, si lourdingue qu’on se croirait dans une saloperie de jeu Rocktarte ! sans parler bien sûr de la conduite un peu flottante… mais de côté-là, ce n’est pas si critiquable et cela rajoute un réalisme bienvenu aux poursuites.

    Enfin, la fin ou plutôt l’épilogue n’est pas satisfaisant du tout… et de ce fait, et des griefs (nombreux) formulés plus avant, ce Mafia Definitive Edition s’avère finalement beaucoup trop casse-burnes pour convaincre.    … Expand

    I did not play the original but I played Mafia 2 to death and loved it. I was very excited about Mafia 3 but hated it. This game is awesome!! You can change the weather and time of day and explore the beautifully rendered world to your hearts content. Hat's off to those who can play on classic difficulty and win the infamous race but for those of us content to complete the game andI did not play the original but I played Mafia 2 to death and loved it. I had no issues with performance on my xbox one and none of the bizzare facial deformities that I have seen in videos. Highly recommend and congratulations to the developers on a job well done!!! Forgot to mention for those who say the world is empty in free ride I don't agree, the people you pass respond to you, there are air ships in the air and planes flying by pulling banners. Имеем по сути дело с игрой, сделанной с нуля, а не с подтянутой графикой 2002 года. Действительно выглядит новоявленная Мафия великолепно, всё как завещал великий и могучий Рэйтрэйсинг. Сюжет Мафии старой я помню с трудом, обе ее части чем-то схожи и из них в голове сложился у меня порядочный винегрет. Так что в 2021 году история Томми Анджело простого таксиста, ставшего волею судьбы правой рукой Дона Сальери — второго крупнейшего мафиозного босса в вымышленном городе Лост-Хэвен для меня воспринималась как нечто уже новое. Не особо я люблю все эти напыщенные так называемые произведения о бандитских разборках шумных итальянцев, они как-то разнообразием сильно не балуют. Как бы-то ни было сюжеточка и главные действующие персонажи в Mafia Definitive Edition заходят весьма неплохо. Наблюдать за происходящим было мне лично в меру интересно. Знаменитую локацию с гонкой пофиксили и в новом виде ее мы прошли со второй буквально попытки на нормальном уровне сложности. В далеком прошлом эта миссия сожгла в пепел не один пукан. Правда американцы из Hangar 13 решили смастерить новую игру на нервах в миссии погони с броневиком. Из n-ого количества попыток за второй десяток осилить эту чертову башню удалось только один раз практически на полностью всратом здоровье, но когда выяснилось что там еще две стадии раздевания бронемашины, не подкрепленных промежуточными сохранениями, принято было решение тупо пройти на изи и не испытывать на прочность вторую элиточку от майков. В общем и целом миссии в игре относительно разнообразные и в меру интригующие, до вау эффекта конечно далековато, но увлекательно спорить не стану. Из того что не понравилось в игре — это прежде всего стрельба. Не понимаю почему было не сделать аналогичную метку как в The Division, когда ты точно знаешь в какое место будешь стрелять, когда вылезешь из укрытия. В Мафии же ты примерно вроде бы наводишь камеру на потенциальный выстрел, по факту же вылазки получается что тебе всё равно нужно доводить прицел до цели, а за это время вражеская непись не стоит по стойке смирно, а весьма прицельно шпигует нашего Томми свинцом. К этой кривожопой стрельбе со временем привыкаешь конечно, но это не есть хорошо. Также не могу сказать за управление персонажем, что шибко оно отзывчивое, косяки незначительные имеются.… Expand

The story is pretty interesting and was really one of the only reasons I kept playing but the gameplay is a wear point for this game as the driving in the game is awful as turning and braking are extremely difficult. The gun play also is poor as sometimes shooting someone in the head will immediately kill them or do no damage at all. I wish the game would be more like GTAIt’s a good game.     It's not flawless, and it actually has a couple of issues, but it makes up with a fantastic story, even better acting and the feeling you're in a proper Hollywood mafia movie.

    -Controls can be slightly clunky. You do get used to them and the game is perfectly playable and enjoyable, although it might not be the best experience of your life regarding this matter.

    The good:

    -Atmosphere is ace
    -If you played the original one when it came out, you will love the way everything has been remade in a more modern way but keeping that essence that made the first game awesome.
    -Acting - out of this world. I genuinely don't understand that some people have criticisedthe acting and/or the story. They are impeccable, period. Characters are even better than in the original game. Absolutely awesome.
    -Most of the basic features that the first game was missing are here, like being able to cover or a better melee combat.

    Overall, fantastic game. I might not pay £35 for it, but if you find it on offer don't hesitate. Is it perfect? No it isn't, but how many games are?

    Now, is it a very enjoyable experience (specially if you have nostalgia on your side) and potentially one of the best games I've ever played regarding directing and acting? Absolutely!    … Expand

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a must-play for any fan of the franchise. Although it doesn't quite have the narrative cohesion of Mafia II, it still offers a memorable and gripping story that's set in a gorgeous virtual adaptation of 1930s America.

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is how a remake should be done. By taking and meticulously remoulding the original game, Mafia: Definitive Edition sings with a deliciously authentic 1930’s gangster shooter experience that’s enriched to no end by a chapter-based story that keeps the focus on the story and its characters. The aiming and target reticule aren’t ideal, and the Free Ride mode is a missed opportunity, but when the smoke clears and all you want is a classy hard-boiled gangster shooter there are few better options available.

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is the perfect game for those who loved the original work of Illusion Softworks back in 2002. A travel back to Lost Heaven that should be mandatory to meet Tommy, Paulie, Don Salieri and many others from a current and much fresher perspective. With more polished gameplay, a spectacular city perfectly set in those thirties and an identical plot, but with slight modifications that make the script grow in quality. The graphics element is just spectacular.
