    I paused this game and made an account just to come give a TLDR version of a lot of the other reviews. This game sucks. No other way around it. Plays like garbage. Makes The Last of Us combat look intricate. Hangar 13 seems to have put all their time and effort into the presentation and absolutely ZERO in the gameplay. I absolutely love this time period, and so far, the story is intriguing, but it’s nothing ground breaking. I’ll finish the game just because I bought it, but I will never (and I mean **** never) play this garbage again. *side note- the driving is the worst I’ve ever experienced. If you plan to try and get the classic difficulty trophy, I’ll tell you right now you’re gonna need a prescription for Xanax.… Expand

    I so hoped that this game would be really fantastic and incredible. But hopes has been broken when I just started playing. I should to say that picture in the game looking great, but phisics - sucks. I was shoked from Hand-to-hand fighting omg what did you done with it in 2020. It's looking very bad. Phisics in the game it's another history I'm keeping in mind moment with fire, when youI so hoped that this game would be really fantastic and incredible.     Back in the days I've played this gem on PC and I remember that I really enjoyed it. Now I've played it on the series X and for me the DE stands for 'disappointing edition'.

    So yeah the new graphics are nice but I've seen so many glitches or textures that won't load correctly the game is clearly buggy and not finished. The melee combat was really simple and fun in the original, now it's stupid with bad transitions of the animation with finishing moves... it really looks bad. The cover system is okay but not really needed in my opinion. They've redone the voice-acting and the main character now sounds dull to me and the guy that stutters isn't that convincing anymore... the original story/plot was simpler and I prefer that one.

    It also annoys me that the game doesn't continue exactly at the place where the cutscene ended. The original did this and driving back from a mission is now missing too...

    Sadly they broke a good game. Stay away from this one, my advice: play the original on PC.    … Expand

    the gameplay seems like mafia 3 and i don't like it. they don't have a large part of the original songs of the first game, and i really think it was an important part of the original title. i also think the game doesn't look good on any platform, with annoying rendering glitches.

    unplayable...i'm in the beginning of the game where im on a foot chase and as i go to hop over a fence (you have to hop over this exact fence) my character falls through the screen. this isnt just a bug the character keeps falling so i now can see the entire city above me. after 5 seconds i fall far enough where it says "you abandoned the mission". i have retried several times and get theunplayable...i'm in the beginning of the game where im on a foot chase and as i go to hop over a fence (you have to hop over this exact fence) my character falls through the screen. this isnt just a bug the character keeps falling so i now can see the entire city above me. after 5 seconds i fall far enough where it says "you abandoned the mission". i have retried several times and get the same thing. this is literally 15 minutes into the game. the game has been out for several months ho is there not a patch for this? oh also, i watched the video 2k launched as they were making it. saying "this is not a reversed compatible game, we are redoing the entire game. the graphics sure as hell do not look like an xbox one error game. it looks like a reversed compatible xbox 360 game. first it was watchdogs legion that sucked, then cyberpunk and now mafia DE. what a major upset 2020 was for gaming.… Expand

    I liked this game up until the level where you have to shoot down Morello's airplane. Even on the easy setting, this level is unfathomably difficult. After trying 200 times to shoot down the plane, I had to abandon the game. I am simply not capable of shooting down the plane because it is too difficult. The problems are that it's extremely difficult to aim, reloading the gun takes a longI liked this game up until the level where you have to shoot down Morello's airplane.     C’est un remaster ou plutôt… presque un remake (!) du Mafia original de 2002 et on voit la différence…! très beau et très soigné, tout a été refait de la cave au grenier, à tel point qu’il n’a certainement pas à rougir de ses concurrents contemporains. La VF est excellente et reprise intégralement bien entendu du jeu d’origine, excepté la voix du protagoniste principal et c’est bienC’est un remaster ou plutôt… presque un remake (!) du Mafia original de 2002 et on voit la différence…! très beau et très soigné, tout a été refait de la cave au grenier, à tel point qu’il n’a certainement pas à rougir de ses concurrents contemporains. La VF est excellente et reprise intégralement bien entendu du jeu d’origine, excepté la voix du protagoniste principal et c’est bien dommage… sans doute un problème de droits (et de gros sous) avec l’excellent doubleur José Luccioni (la voix d’Al Pacino entre autres !).

    Le plus étonnant dans ce ‘Mafia’, c’est qu’ils se sont tout de même cassé le cul à modéliser une ville entière (assez grande) mais que ça ne se joue pas comme un monde ouvert normal, excepté quelques rares fuites ou poursuites où la ville et la police sont vraiment mises à contribution. Tout le reste n’est que missions très scénarisées (bien mises en scène certes mais qui s’enchaînent un peu trop à la chaîne) avec un paquet de cinématiques.

    Bien que cela fasse penser souvent aux Affranchis (le chef-d’oeuvre de Scorsese), le jeu reste vissé tout au premier dégré et sérieux comme un pape. L’action et les affrontements restent (un peu trop) prédominants, bien que de parfois, de l’infiltration soit nécessaire, laquelle se révèle un brin médiocre… mais pas catastrophique heureusement.

    Le principal souci -et de taille- reste la jouabilité très rigide de ce TPS qui multiplie d’ailleurs des séquences sur rails et/ou très scriptées tout à fait horripilantes. Le maniement reste lent et hasardeux, rendant les fusillades d’une rare imprécision… et difficulté. On ne se soigne pas ici… sauf à des points prévus d’avance ici ou là, des postes de premiers soins.

    Les munitions manquent très souvent, ce qui oblige à changer et/ou ramasser les flingues sur les macabés… très souvent. A moins de tirer dans la tête (quand on y arrive…) les ennemis sont des éponges à balles… En vérité, c’est si mauvais à manier, si pataud, si lourdingue qu’on se croirait dans une saloperie de jeu Rocktarte ! sans parler bien sûr de la conduite un peu flottante… mais de côté-là, ce n’est pas si critiquable et cela rajoute un réalisme bienvenu aux poursuites.

    Enfin, la fin ou plutôt l’épilogue n’est pas satisfaisant du tout… et de ce fait, et des griefs (nombreux) formulés plus avant, ce Mafia Definitive Edition s’avère finalement beaucoup trop casse-burnes pour convaincre.    … Expand

    Уничтожили все за что любили оригинальную игу. Жаль потраченных денег. Ни души, ни интереса, простой упор на картинку. Изуродовали классику. Закройте ангар 13, 2 провал из 2.

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a must-play for any fan of the franchise. Although it doesn't quite have the narrative cohesion of Mafia II, it still offers a memorable and gripping story that's set in a gorgeous virtual adaptation of 1930s America.

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is how a remake should be done. By taking and meticulously remoulding the original game, Mafia: Definitive Edition sings with a deliciously authentic 1930’s gangster shooter experience that’s enriched to no end by a chapter-based story that keeps the focus on the story and its characters. The aiming and target reticule aren’t ideal, and the Free Ride mode is a missed opportunity, but when the smoke clears and all you want is a classy hard-boiled gangster shooter there are few better options available.

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is the perfect game for those who loved the original work of Illusion Softworks back in 2002. A travel back to Lost Heaven that should be mandatory to meet Tommy, Paulie, Don Salieri and many others from a current and much fresher perspective. With more polished gameplay, a spectacular city perfectly set in those thirties and an identical plot, but with slight modifications that make the script grow in quality. The graphics element is just spectacular.
