LEGO DC Super-Villains has a lot of fun with its source material, and although it does indeed prove that it’s good to be bad, taking some steps away from its play-it-safe formula would have been much, much better. That said, there’s a plethora of exciting content, depth and replay value on offer here, making this a must have for fans of the series. Just don’t expect this to be LEGO’s defining moment.

A very solid and fun Lego game that tries to undo some of the more tired series trends by offering up a more interesting and varied style of humour, deeper puzzles and fighting mechanics but most importantly being less buggy. It's really a great title, and though some fans may find the gameplay still a bit stale, anyone who gives it a shot should find plenty of fun to be had and lots of value for money.

A neat continuation of the LEGO DC series, Super-Villains offers a neat twist in casting your custom character and a range of iconic faces from the comic books as the protagonists in a raucously fun story. Yes, it's the same old LEGO game that you'll have played several times before, but damn it, it's still good. And indeed, good to be bad.

LEGO DC Super-Villains doesn’t take any risk and stays true to the old formula. But it’s still well-crafted and it’s a good fit for any youngster trying to step in the gaming world.

Let me reiterate it isn’t a bad game, but it doesn’t do anything to make it stand out as particularly good, either.

Packed with jokes and DC fan service but the Lego formula is long overdue a complete revamp, because it’s starting to ruin concepts like this that are otherwise ripe with potential.

Although I’ll never claim to be the biggest fan of LEGO video games, I’ve certainly enjoyed my time with quite a few of them and was hoping the same would happen with this one. Unfortunately, LEGO DC Super-Villains doesn’t do enough with its creative licenses and freedoms, and ends up being a very cookie cutter and rather dull game. It’s a shame.

LEGO DC Super-Villains does little to distinguish itself from past LEGO games, to the point that it still features some of the franchise’s trademark technical issues and glitches.

I’ve always enjoyed the presentation side of things in each LEGO game and once again I enjoyed what both the visuals and sound design had to offer in this game.
I found the gameplay to be better than ever in this game because they’ve sorted out a few issues that have dogged some LEGO game’s in the past. The story is very well written and the added humour and little details included here and there keeps the story fun and interesting throughout. You’re given more freedom than in previous LEGO game’s and being able to fine tune your created character was an addition I thoroughly enjoyed. There’s a few technichal issues that show themselves every now and then but thankfully none of these issues harm the fun factor too much. I got stuck a few times during my time with the game which was a little frustrating. Overall I’ve always enjoyed playing LEGO game’s because it offers you fun and enjoyable moments unlike any other game. Despite this though I can’t help but feel that the series of game’s has grown a little stale over recent years, well that is until now. Don’t get me wrong LEGO DC Super-Villains hasn’t reinvented anything as such but what it has done is finely tuned certain aspects whilst also giving you a lot more freedom in the process. This freedom then comes in the form of being able to create and finely tune your own character and this without a doubt makes the already very good story stand out even more. Another thing that stands out even more than in previous LEGO game’s is its gameplay. Everything just feels much more smoother this time around and whilst it still suffers with a few technichal issues I was easily able to look past them because the fun factor never dwindled throughout my time with the game. In fact it was that fun that the frustration created by getting stuck every now and then was never a problem either. Without a doubt then LEGO DC Super-Villains gets a very big recommendation from me because in a way this game gives the series a new lease of life and if you’re a fan of these types of game’s then you will no doubt have fun with this game from start to finish.

Out of the newer Lego games this is the best (yes better than skywalker saga). It has the best customizer which is good because they also have your custom character as the main protagonist which is really fun and a new way to do a Lego game story. The map is awesome and the vehicles and characters are all great. It’s a classic Lego game that I won’t forget playing and 100%-ing. Give it a shot especially if it’s on sale Full Review »
