I simply found this to be a boring game designed around a character that I could not relate to in any way. In fact the characters and writing in general just seemed to be too far removed from reality to really get into, which is a bad thing as the game seems to be entirely centered around it's story and character development in what is supposed to be a humble and realistic setting. In fact I think the lack of any real genuine humble mountain town feel is what works against it the most. It's just kind of a ridiculous story with ridiculous characters, but in the most boring way possible. Expand

A relaxing game where you deliver mail and experience some mild drama of the after-school special variety.

It reminded me of a more boring Life is Strange, and even that game often put me to sleep. I fully accept that I'm just not the target audience for this, as I feel like the developers created exactly the game they intended to. I do appreciate the original concept, and that it

I fully accept that I'm just not the target audience for this, as I feel like the developers created exactly the game they intended to. I do appreciate the original concept, and that it does something different, but the banality of the dialogue and encounters in this game negate all that. It's like 5 hours of Mr. Rogers delivering mail in his neighborhood.

This game does have a horrible save system, with save files that take up an absurd amount of space and cannot be deleted.

    Almost an complete game

With an all around good visual, above average storyline, linear choice making and a terrible programmed gameplay, this indie game screams low budget all over, an light-hearted story awaits those who can endure the dull and repetitive gameplay.

Lake is a narrative-driven postal simulator quite unlike any other. With a rich story, wonderful characters a beautiful town to explore, if you’re looking for something to ease your mind, you can’t go wrong.

Lake is a short and enjoyable story-driven game with interesting mail delivery gameplay that drives you to get to know the townsfolk. The story and interactions provide much lighthearted fun so if you can get past the graphical issues and bugs, there's plenty to make you play Lake over and over so you can see how your decisions influence the people of Providence Oaks.

Overall, Lake is a lovely addition to the narrative adventure genre — even if it doesn’t go so far as to push the boundaries of that genre — and offers a relaxed adventure which could serve as a welcome counterpoint to some of the chaos going on in today’s world. You can almost feel the stresses of Meredith’s city life melting away, although Lake does a good job of not pushing you towards one decision or another. It’s entirely up to you, after exploring Providence Oaks and working your way back into the lives of its people, to decide what Meredith should do next. I had fun in my time as Providence Oaks' mail carrier, and even though that job can feel a little stale at times, Lake's charming inhabitants and its gentle story make it more than worth a visit.
