Dec 17, 2015With King's Quest: Rubble Without a Cause, characters are growing right before our eyes with a subtle and effective tonal shift. The Odd Gentlemen also nailed the script, as it feels like a standalone episode that's also connected to the episodic format as a whole. We still have three tales to go, but for now, I'm feeling pretty good about King's Quest.

Jan 10, 2016Although King’s Quest Chapter 2 – Rubble Without A Cause is lacking the wonder of the first episode, it did have some nice moments such as old King Graham and his grandchildren plus some very nice graphics as he explores the labyrinth of the Goblins.
-
Jan 4, 2016Rubble Without a Cause is both a solid entry in this new game series and a unique gameplay experience in its own right.
-
Jan 4, 2016Kings Quest chapter 2 delivers a wonderful and exciting story. Unfortunately the puzzles aren't as exciting as they used to be and it still contains a lot of backtracking. Nonetheless Kings Quest remains a cool adventure game.
-
Dec 22, 2015Rubble Without A Cause is a small step backwards for this new vision for King’s Quest, but the series has enough momentum and potential that I’m not scared off yet. King Graham’s endearing self-doubt mixed with the collection of oddball puzzles helps carry this episode, despite some early stumbling blocks.
-
Dec 18, 2015The locations and the puzzles of Rubble Without a Cause also feel a little uninspired and fail to match the exuberance of the previous modern adventures of Graham.
-
Dec 17, 2015The second chapter of King's Quest is still as charming as it’s ever been, the writing is sublime, the art-style is still magnificent and its orchestral soundtrack is wonderful - but it's hard not to feel a bit disappointed given the lengthy wait.
-
Dec 20, 2015The quality of King's Quest is top-notch, and despite some drawbacks in this chapter, we continue to look forward to what Graham has in store next.
-
Jan 5, 2016I completed Kings Quest Chapter 2 and I muttered to myself “That’s it?” It’s not a horrible chapter, but it’s a far cry from the way the game started out.
-
Official Xbox Magazine UKMar 5, 2016It still has charm and invention - but in shorter supply than the preceding episode. It's also stymied by a claustrophobic, repetitive environment that leans on to-and-fro busywork. [March 2016, p.84]
-
Jan 15, 2016The optimist in me wants to think this is a misstep, but even if we see a big improvement in the next episode, I’m not sure it'll be enough to keep me invested in this series. "A Knight to Remember" was flawed but showed a lot of promise — promise that is almost entirely squandered by "Rubble Without A Cause."
